Let's try this again. Hopefully if anything happens the thread will survive. Third time's a charm and all that.

Last year one of our MLs, Merrihart (who is now back in Philly) started an off-NaNo group called the 100 Words Club. The basic premise was that you write, at minimum, one hundred words a day and then get together with the rest of the group to share. These can be one hundred words of fresh prose, poetry, play or screenwriting or it could be done during an edit of any of the above. I'm sure there's stuff I'm leaving out but the point is it was pretty loose with the rules and we treated it as more of a fiction enthusiasts' gathering. We held these once a month, usually in Monroeville but occasionally in the city proper (Squirrel Hill), though there's always the possibility of moving it elsewhere. After Merrihart left Barbiq, her daughters (whose usernames are escaping me momentarily) and I got together for a midnight book release party but that was about it. We didn't have a September meeting. These generally took place in the early afternoon or in the evening on Saturdays.

Is anyone from last year still interested? New people? Considering how dead these forums go after December 1st, if we have enough participants I'm thinking about moving things onto a private site or a free forum somewhere. We can do these during November as well if anyone wants, as it doesn't look like much is planned in Pittsburgh as of yet.

I'd be down. Also I've got a car for any city dwellers who'd want to car pool.

Sorry I forgot your names, guys. One of you has the same name as me, too. I'm kind of slow.

Has anyone ever been to Zombiefest? Last year there were lectures from horror writers, including Gary Braunbeck (who read his Stoker-winning short "We Now Pause for Station Identification"), Kim Paffenroth (author of Gospel of the Living Dead) and Edward Holsclaw (author of Tiburon). There was a Q&A session afterwards that I really enjoyed, especially meeting the writers and getting their opinions on things.

If that's not your cup of tea, there's tons of vendors, small press publishers, actors from several movies and last year there was a stand that did zombie facepainting. All in all it was a lot of fun. Last year it was at the ExpoMart, but this year it's being held "at the Monroeville Mall," which makes me wonder exactly how it's going to be set up.

I'll be there at least on Saturday, if not Friday as well.

Zombiefest, huh. Yes, I shall be there on either Saturday or Sunday. The mall's not that far from my house, anyway. 15 minutes? I was planning to go, at least.

And count me in the 100 words club. I need motivation, anyway....

I'm interested too! (newbie)

So... lemme clairify something here... is it one hundred words while there, or before hand that's brought there? Or one hundred a day until we meet or...? *tends to overthink things*

I don't know, really. It was Merrihart's idea, but my interpretation of it was "create or edit a hundred words a day and then bring whatever you want, if you want to bring anything at all." I'm fairly certain the idea was to encourage a habit of writing, if even just a small amount at a time, though I'll be honest and admit I don't write every day. I write more like every two or three days, but it's a thousand words or more at a time most days.

As far as Zombiefest goes, I'm fairly sure it's free this year, seeing it's at the Mall instead of the ExpoMart this time around, and I'll be there on Saturday.

I have both of them but haven't read them yet. I got caught up in short story collections a while ago and haven't gotten back to novels yet.

I'm having a friend over during Zombiefest weekend, so it'll be up to her if we go or not ^^
But oh I want to! I've got this dress from a horror photoshoot based on A Tale of Two Sisters that's all bloody and wonderful <3

(if you wanna look at it our photographer posted pics on her dA, you do need an account to view though since they're marked as mature. www.rennarevelin.deviantart.com <--in her gallery I'm the longer haird sister in the pictures, though now have short hair...)

I love that movie so much. I wrote a review of it once for a Korean film website but I don't think it ever went live. Shame. :(
