We are going to need to get word out to the Perth North people who dont read the forum to tell them about our little southern group.. boost our numbers a bit :)

Good to be back - hopefully, my laptop won't get stolen half way through NaNo again (I'm glad I carry insurance)
As for notifying people of the North vs South divide? Well, I'd like to think that, as the longest standing and most extensive rivalry in our fair city, people will notice pretty quickly and declare their proper allegiance. But can't the ML send a group email to inform people of this split?

Howdy,
I signed up to both. Last time I was here (active on the forums I mean) there was no North or South... So, when I noticed the North next to the location I assumed there was a South, and I was right!
So yeah, signing from Rockingham.

everyone just has to remember to change their home region from North (the default if you did it last year) to South

I've signed up for the proper group.
I'm not too worried about people not noticing. If they truly care, they'll see and make the change.
I didn't participate last year, as I had to finish off a project (all done, book out in Feb), but this year, I need to write a novel.

Hopefully not in the city, which is a nuisance for parking. Not Freo, for the same reason.
I'd suggest a coffee shop in a non-busy shopping centre like Bentley or Riverton, and not one of the mega-malls like Carousel.

Hello all!!
Why are we divided? (and better yet, are we having a word war with our northern counterparts?)

I wondered why I came up in North... xD
Well, signing in from down Kwinana way.
Trying NaNo again.
And I do hope we have some sort of competition between the North.
South all the way. 8D

First timer here too. It's going to be interesting though, a new addition to the family means there's a two week old squawking whenever I've time to sit down and think. May prompt amusing prose.

Woo Hoo! We've got a North vs. South divide this year. I hope that means a few extra gatherings south of the river?
I'm still undecided about Nano this year. The truth is, I have a novel in progress that I've been stumbling over for the past several months so I'm thinking of using Nano as a boost to the motivation to get the last 20% of the first draft finished (another 30 to 40 thousand words at least). Of course, according to the 'rules' of Nano I 'should' start something new... Honestly, the only option of starting something new would be to write the first several chapters of the sequel, but who starts the sequel before the first edition is finished??? lol
Ah, the conundrum. There are no easy answers. I guess I have a few days to figure it out. Any suggestions?
Back to the South of the River folk, each Thursday between 12:30 and 2:30 pm I settle in at Seville Grove (formerly Westfield) Library for some fiction writing. I'd love some company if you want to come work on your novel through November. They allow laptops and even have a kids area so if you have a little one in tow they're welcome too. Feel free to send me a message if you want more information.
Good luck to you all on your NaNo masterpieces. :-)

Oooh, my Mum used to be a library clerk at that library and I always loved hanging out there to read/write. Pity I work in the city during that time or I'd love to join you!

Ah, it's good to be back. I've missed the last few years (although I did try last year, time was against me), so hopefully I can make the most of this opportunity.
Out of curiosity, anyone here gunning for a two in one ... Nanowrimo AND Movember?

Well, I did this last year, so ended up North by default. Technically, I'm EAST, but never mind. The North/South split is the way it is. I've stayed with the default North, seeing as I'm studying at Perth Central this year, and because a couple of real life friends from NOR have decided to participate this year.
I have some NaNo buddies from SOR though, so I've signed up for this region as well, just to stay in touch.
Good luck everyone!
Betty.

according to my girlfriend i am supposed to participate in this (never heard of it before last month). i would like to point out that someone stole my username. i also tend to have terrible grammar. My thoughts go off on tangents too.
Nice to meet you

Well I'm technically South of the River, where the river winds up into the hills out Midland way, but people always say that's North. I'm just going to say East, declare no allegiance and get on with the fun.
Hopefully this year Ill actually get to write something, The now 20 month old made it pretty impossible last year.

I suppose, technically I am east as well, being in Pickering Brook. Please don't anyone ask where that is or I will have to rip of your arm and beat you with the soggy bit. (*lowers voice*) psst it's in the hills near Lesmurdie and Bickley.
As far as writing goes I have been a bit snowed under. I may not be very much help as to keeping the word count up. (*hides all objects able to be thrown int he vicinity*)
Good luck to you all.

I LOVE Pickering Brook and Bickley. Some of the most picturesque country close in around Perth. I take my motorcycle for a nice cruisy ride around there every other week when I have an hour free and need some fresh air.

he he, yes, a post was sent in October about the decision to have two locations, but it was lost in the server meltdown! Since then I have moved house and only just now got Telstra issues sorted out... FAR OUT WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN DURING NANOWRIMO?!?!?! lol
Anyhoo, there is not "split" or "allegiance" per se, just two venue choices to make it easier for those wishing to travel to write-ins.
love love love,
Anita

hi Ozedge,
Have proposed the Millpoint Book Caffe in South Perth - easy to park, quiet, great coffee, inspiring to be surrounded by books ;-)
Thursday afternoons from 2pm.
