Hey guys, when the server crashed we lost everything we'd posted here, however I have it saved in email, so below is the welcome and introductions of all who've posted:
******************************************************************************'
Kaydrienne:

Welcome to Connecticut's newest Region, Valley-Northwest! We created
this new Region for those of us living along Route 8 and no other
convenient highway, thus finding it more difficult to make it to meet
ups, write ins, and parties! If you aren't sure which Region you
belong in, it's okay to join more than one and see which events work
best for you. I hope with things being more localized for us, everyone
will have the chance to make it to a few events! If you have any
suggestions of venues, please feel free to bring them up in the
suggestion thread, or email me (LadyChatfield@gmail.com [2]).

We have just over a month before the craziness starts, so let's begin
introductions!

My name is Meg, though you'll see me on here as Kaydrienne. I'm 26 and
live in Naugatuck. This is my fifth NaNoWriMo, and will be my forth win
when I finish! This is my first year as a ML and I have a lot of events
planned for us so I hope to get a chance to meet you all this year!

Now go ahead and introduce yourselves!

****************************************************************************
Maura P:

Hi Meg!

My name is Maura and I am in Danbury. This is my first year with
NaNoWriMo and I am really looking forward to it. I recently finished a
60,000 word manuscript and am currently working on the rewrites.
However it took me a long, long time to finish that first draft and I
am being rather haphazard and slow on the re-writes so I am hoping
NaNoWriMo will help me to become a more disciplined writer. I need to
make it a true daily habit.

Please keep me informed of any meet ups. I would love to meet fellow
NaNoWriMo-ers!

Happy Writing,
Maura

PS: Good for you on four NaNoWriMo wins!!! You rock!!

**************************************************************************
ctrek7:

Hi Meg,
Its Cat! I have never written anything close to a book in volume, just
freelanced articles for newspapers. Looking forward to starting.

Cat

**************************************************************************
Dysis Raine:

Hi, Meg!

My name is Megan and this is my 3rd NaNoWriMo (and will hopefully be my
3rd win, too!)

I'm glad that us in the Northwest corner finally have a region, and
depending on where exactly everyone is, I may have some ideas for
places to meet up. (Maybe the Starbucks in Southbury or the one in New
Milford...?)

Good luck and happy writing to everyone!

**************************************************************************

YGJunkie85:

Hey all, I tend to go by CJ in real life, that is if anyone ever manages
to catch me in real life. This'll be my 6th nano, hopefully 3rd win. I'm
off in New Canaan, but am always up for a little travel if it means I
meet interesting people. Yay for finally having a region a little
closer to home. :D

*************************************************************************

Kaydrienne:

Nice to meet everyone, and hi Cat!

Wow Maura, that's awesome on your manuscript! Any advice for the
'newbs'? Actually, I'll start an advice thread too, but either way,
that's really great! And get ready for some 'shot gun noveling'!

Megan, wow, you won your first two years? My first year I came close,
but right around crunch time I couldn't put a sentence together, I'm
hoping that I'll be able to help this year's 'first years' through
similar creativity crashes. I'm all for the Starbuck in both Southbury
and New Milford, I'll get in touch with them this weekend and see when
would be good! :)

Hi CJ! I can get an event or two up in (or right near) New Canaan, not
a problem! I'm pretty excited about our new region too!

Cat, if there's anywhere or any night that's good for you that you
think you can make a meet up, let me know! I know your schedule is
crazy, but it's always good to see you!

*****************************************************************************

etoile1677:

Hi everyone, my name is Jaimie, and this is my first NaNoWriMo, and I'm
so excited. Can't wait to get started!

*******************************************************************************

That's it! I hope everyone finds us again!

YAY! I'm so glad there's finally a Region where Write-Ins will be closer to me!
Meg- I work in Naugatuck!

This will be my 3rd NaNoWriMo. I won in 2006 and 2007, but both novels pretty much suck. This year my goal is not to win, but just to take part, and go to Write-Ins, etc. I think I will get a better start on a novel with better quality writing to work with during editing rather than something I wrote as a stream of consciousness in order to reach 50,000 in 30 days.
I'm really excited about my story idea this year.
And to be honest, I actually started writing it already (about 3000 words into it) because I'm spectacularly impatient, but don't worry- I won't count that wordcount toward the contest when we start.

"Awesome!"

is what I said out load when I saw there was a new region, and that I qualified for it! As much as I love The Official Katherine Bloodsaw Fanclub (CT-North), it'll be nice to have closer write-ins!

I'm Steve, and I live in Goshen, CT, which is a little town squarely in the NW of CT, just north of Litchfield and west of Torrington, both of which might be good write-in cities for the more northernly of our group. Although, so far, it seems I'm the most northernly! Still, I'd be up for trips down to Southbury or New Milford, which I see have been mentioned. I used to play D&D with a guy who works at the Starbucks in Southbury. There's gotta be an angle there somewhere. (Free refills on a critical hit? I can't apologize for being a geek on these boards.)

This will be my second year participating in Nanowrimo, but my first year winning Nanowrimo!

It seems like we have an accomplished and/or excited bunch here so far, which is great!

"Hi" to you all!

Steve-- ooh, I LOVE GOSHEN. Do you know where Pie Hill Road is? Hee. I love the name of that street.
Also, my brother works at Starbucks in Southbury, so maybe we can work out some good stuff. hehe.

Guys, I'm totally bummed. I was going to post here and say that I know of a perfect place for a write-in: Rachel's Villiage Coffehouse and Book Nest in downtown Naugatuck on Church Street. I go there about 3 times a week for lunch. But when I left today, I checked their hours, and they're not open on weekends, and they're only open until 3:00 on Monday-Wednesday, and until 4:00 on Thursday and Friday. So that's not going to work. Bummer.

Goshen is the place to be this weekend! I encourage all and sundry to come to attend the Connecticut Scottish Festival at the Goshen Fairgrounds tomorrow, Saturday the 4th.

I've lived in Goshen for three years and have yet to attend, but I hear it's quite the to-do.

How can't it be when it features a "Bonnie Knees Contest"?

Wait, that's /this/ weekend?! How did I forget about this?!
I've gone the past two year (Is 1/2 Scottish) And found it to be awesomeness. Definately worth going to. Mainly 'cause they always threaten that it's their 'last year'. And yet they always come back again, go figure.

Hi. I just joined your new group. I live in Newtown so I'm not exactly at the shoreline of CT, nor am I northwest by Rt 8 but Rt 8 is very close and I can access it within 10 miles so that's that.
I am within maybe 15 miles of the beach in Bridgeport.
I did this first last Nov and made it.
This year I feel less prolific but I must have a can of spinach and then I will be all set. Hope to meet up with you soon.

Aaah, yes, a lesson in message boards...always copy what you write into notepad, incase the computer moofies eat your post. *grins* Alas!

So what I thought I posted a few hours ago...

Whee! Steve, wave that geek flag proudly, you are most certainly amoungst friends here! I play most Friday nights, and every other Saturday there's a game at my house that my boyfriend runs...I can't play that one because I run a writing group for my Wheel of Time RP website those nights (tonight)!

I can't believe I'm missing the Scottish Fest, I didn't know it was this weekend! *le sigh!*

I'll def get an event in Litchfield, and I'm hoping for a Torrington event as well (maybe more than one!)

Hi GreenTeapot! Know of any other good coffee in Naugatuck? I moved here in January, and can't seem to find anywhere. I haven't been to Rachel's because of their hours; I work in Wallingford. I do have the first week of November off (3rd - 7th) so maybe we can do lunch one of those days?

Hey inkiostro, welcome to Valley/NW! I think Newtown is close enough...I've always felt its a matter of which events you want to attend, and I'm actually a member of all four regions of CT even though I ML this one, so you're good! :-) Enjoy your spinach!

btw, A Latte More in Middlebury might also be a viable option for a meetup.

Hello!
Nope, I don't know of any other coffeshops in Naugatuck. I mostly stay around the center of town and up Rubber Ave. because it's all within a few minutes of where I work. So in that area, there aren't any other places. But there are other parts of Naugatuck I haven't explored yet (even though I've worked here for 6 years!).
Ooh, lunch would be fun! Let me know!

Yay, a group that includes Waterbury!

This will be my fourth year. I won last year and hope to win again. I'm really excited that this year I'll actually be able to attend write-ins, considering most of the places mentioned for get-togethers are not too far from me.

I think we should try to do several write-ins, in case someone can't make one. We should possibly do them in different locations, that way people who may have trouble getting to a certain place will be able to make it to at least one.

I think I'll be frequenting the Barnes and Noble Starbucks in the Brass Mill Center, since they have good coffee and comfy places to sit.

Yay for NW CT!

Hi, delirious,
We're neighbors! I live in Wolcott.
And of course since there's nothing to do in Wolcott besides Illusions (ack), I spend most of my fun-time in Waterbury or Southington.

There's nothing to do in CT in general, heh.

It's nice to know someone so close is doing this!

Hola everybody. My name is John you can call me Jack. I joined NanWriMo after getting the annual earful from my sister (a perennial participant) and since I write for a living (nonfiction) I figured I should give it a whirl. I live in Naugatuck, work in Newtown. Really looking forward to this, although I dont have a single idea for my story yet.

Hi Delirious, BluePlastic, Jack, and Rob! Welcome to Valley NW!

Delirious, when's the best time for you to have a meet up at the Waterbury B&N? My friend works there and she's going to give the management a heads up that we're coming!

BluePlastic, how big is TwinCo? Do you think they could accomodate 20-30 of us? (Depending on who could make it?) That seems like it could be a good place to have a Meet Up Plot Planning session.

Hey Jack I'm in Naugatuck too! I'm in the opposite side of the no idea spectrum...I have waaaaaaaay too many! I'd love to get them all tied in to one, but somehow I doubt it will happen that way.

Rob, it will be your first win! Good luck and welcome to NaNo!

Hey everyone go check out our events calendar, and I'll have a thread on the Kick Off party up this afternoon, so please plan on stopping by and RSVPing!

Thanks!

*randomly pokes her head into the conversation* Howdy, folks. Technically I'm not part of your region, but since my good buddy Kay is the ringleader, I'm tagging along for the fun. *waves to Kay*

This is my 5th year (non-consecutive) year doing NaNo. Took last year off to work on school work, but I'm back with more energy that ever!

Hello, I'm called Yume by most of my friends, even though that's not my real name. I'm 13, and my mom won't let me say my real name >.>.

I live in Farmington/West Hartford CT, right on the borderline. I think this is the closest region to where I am....

I tried NaNoWriMo last year, but failed horribly. My friend told me about it, but I didn't know there was a website until around November 20 O.o. I hope I do fine this year!

*crows*

hello. whoa, there ARE people in Waterbury other than me! wait, thaat sounds wrong on SOOOO many levels, mostly on the observant ones. ANYWAY, skip ahead, skip ahead, skip ahead. this is my fifth year doing this, fourth that ive actually been
signed into the boards for. :p and definitely looking forward to meeting up with other fanatics.

Little bit of meself, random tangents and obscure references abound. And as ive recently been told, while clearly heard apparently most folks dont get half of what dribbles out of my mouth. *shrug* keeping that in mind, uhm, something something rhymes with fish.

carry on.

Well, now, I may have to keep my eye on this region. If you're going to do meetings in my neck of the woods, and all. And not to belabor the point, but B and N does NOT have free wi-fi. Panera does. Just saying.

Plus, Panera in Waterbury is like, 10 times bigger than the Starbucks area at B&N in Waterbury.

Welcome to all new ones!

Good point on Panera! Though *cough* we're supposed to be writing not surfing the net...LOL! I'll definitely start bothering the good folks of Panera and add them to the calendar! No coffee shop is safe from the ML!

I'm in a bit of a silly mood today...

Also, at the Panera you can buy a fountain beverage, then refill it eight-hundred times over the course of four hours. Not that I have.

And with the free wi-fi, one can do research when one needs to. As well as sending snarky IMs to someone across the room about other people in the room whom we find goofy. Not that I have.

omgomgomg! Finally the Valley gets some representation! I live in Seymour, work in Bridgeport, would love to meet some locals for write-ins since Stamford is ... well.. too dang far. This is my third year participating (second year winning (fingers crossed)). I've only lived in the Valley for a few years, so I'm not quite hip to the local hang-outs, so I can't help with suggestions, but that's a good reason for me to meet up with all y'all. See you at the kick-off!

Hey, I'm Wolf Boy. (Or at least that's what people call me, Americans don't like to pronounce my real name for some reason.) I'm around Waterbury for the most part. This isn't my first NaNo, but I'm hoping to participate more this year if the meet-ups are close enough.

Hello there. My name is Dan (or Spider, if I'm on the internets) and I've been nano-ing three years now. I haven't really been able to get into the group meetup things because of the aforementioned reason that this group was created. I live down by Torrington and I'm hoping to be a lot more social this year.

Hi, I'm Kurt and this is my first NaNo... though my borther did it for a few years. I stopped writing for a good couple of years... i just moved out of waterbury and into terryville, have a nice calm desk job... which means i've been reinspired to write again. I've dusted off some old novel notes and other such... but i want to let go of most of the past baggage and start fresh. In the last month i've written two "meaty" short stories (meaty is what a call a short that between 15-25000 words) Started two others and began a rewrite of my old notes to restart to previous novels.

So i'm hoping to get my kinks out... get down to the discipline of writing around a full time job... hopefully i'll be able to meet some of you people... anywho gotta an outline to think through and a few notes to jot.

Kurt~
