Prep sessions

  • 8 pm, Monday (Oct 27)
  • 8 pm, Thursday (Oct 30)

Do you have a jabber account already?
If not, send me a nanomail message to request a free one.

You can use your jabber account to connect to our NaperWriMo jabber chat room.

Why would you want to do that?
The jabber chat room is a convenient way to connect with the regional stalwarts online. In November, practically every night, you will find timed "word wars" (participants try to write more words than each other in a 10-15 minute peroid). Do enough of these and you will find yourself at your daily total very quickly.

How does it work?
See http://writing.teiru.net/applet for more information.

What is jabber?
Jabber is also known as XMPP. It is the open standard protocol for instant messaging and multi-user chats. Google uses it for googletalk.

word war
We have a jabber bot named word war that, among other things, will time word wars for us.

We'll have our first Jabber novel preparation session in the Naperville@conference.jabber.writing.teiru.net jabber chat room 8 PM Monday, 20 October. See the post above for details about Jabber and how to get an account if you don't already have one.

My thought for this virtual write-in is to spend a little time talking about our novels and then to do some exercises to help us prepare for November (exercises will be based upon and help flesh out our NaNo novels).

Post here if you are planning to attend.

Sorry, I can't make it--it's Simha Torah (a Jewish Holiday.)

Katherine,
How about we have a second session on Tuesday (Oct 21)? Would that work?

Yes! 8 pm, Tuesday (Oct 21). I've seen a number of requests for jabber accounts. I think it would be good to have a second session.

I just updated the main posting--to advertise two more jabber prep sessions.
Next Monday and Thursday at 8:00 p.m.

Come with a question. The one I asked (and got tons of good suggstions for)
- names for an improv group
Some of the creative suggestions:
Skinned Peaches. Smiley Face Circumfrance. The Self-Filling Paintcans. Internal Windowscreens. Capitalized Vowels. Sideways Visions. Bouncing Sounds. Isolated Remotes. Consonant Space. Heavy Minutes. Russian Literature in Translation. Dancing Arrows. Odd Numbers Only.

So, join us--bring a question, or some answers, or just
a few nice icons. (Raskolnikov93 is very fond of helicopters.)
