I am a UNLV student as well, English major. I've only been going there on and off for about seven years now...

School is expensive, especially when you are an old guy with a family.

Do you go full time? Yeah school is crazy expensive, I'm out of state so its really high for me. I would never be able to afford it if I had a family.

I'm a recreation major :)

No, not full time. Unfortunately the mix of working full time and parenting AND writing really uses up my time. I take a few internet classes here and there when I can, or when the good people at the Pell Grant feel particularly generous :)

So wait...what exactly is a recreation major?

Right now in my recreation classes we're learning about the power of positive thinking, stress, the history of recreation, how people recreate, the difference between genders and cultures and how they recreate, and why recreation is important. We're going to start learning about the different sections of recreation soon - commercial, non-profite, armed forces, etc. We also learn how to make recreation possibly for everyone regardless of age, race, or disability.

Its really interesting. I either want to work at mgm as an event planner when I graduate or as an activites director at a camp :)

Well, if money is what you are interested in, Event Planners at MGM go on to make insane monies. My wife worked as Executive Assistant in the Convention Sales and anyone involved with putting together the events made bank. In fact, word on the street is that places like Bellagio make more money on conventions and events than they do on gambling.

Hey guys,

I currently do not go to school, but would love to go back either to finish up a Masters I started in Film or do something in pop culture studies type of stuff... yeah I know, unless you land some cushy spot on Best Week Ever making fun of Celebs, it's not a good way to make a living, but anything has to be better than where I am working now.

Laura-

Actually, I went to high school with a friend who went on to be on Best Week Ever and Top 100 Celebrity-whatevers. He was a threatre major in high school and college, if that helps...

I actually teach at UNLV in the department of English. I am teaching two English 102 classes this semester. I only have one paper coming in during November, so hopefully I will have plenty of writing time.

I do! I'm a Junior taking 18 credits, but I'll reach 50,000 words somehow!

Ah yes. I'm a full time student right now majoring in Accounting.=\. haha.

This helps me get away from all the numbers for a change.

I do - double major, MIS and Econ. As a matter of fact, I'm a week late to Nano because I just finished the week from hell - 3 papers, 4 exams all within one week.

I wonder, can I count the words from my papers?

After my daughter was born, I started taking time off (her due date was the first day of fall semester last year) but I am currently a Junior majoring in Elementary Education.
