A Novel Planning Party will be held at the West Lafayette Public Library in the Elm room (that's one of the upstairs meeting rooms; specifically, it will be the one with the NaNoWriMo flyer posted on the door).

This will happen on Saturday, October 25 from 2 - 4. We will be planning our novels, discussing our novels, figuring out how to live through the whole crazy month, etc. Basically, doing all the stuff that would be considered "procrastinating" if we were actually supposed to be writing our novels.

Anyone that wants to come/will plan on trying to make it, please post here as the amazing librarians that are totally behind us in this literary experiment have asked me for a headcount.

The library has a "no food" policy which is waived in the meeting rooms for "light refreshments." I'll be providing those--requests? (Seriously, as a group do we prefer cookies or fresh veggies?) If you bring something to drink, please make sure it's in a container that isn't apt to spill.

(If you're under 18, your parents need to know where you are, etc. Invite them to come along and check things out if they want to. It's important that they know you won't be abducted or anything.)

It's a little too early to tell, but I should be able to make it. And I know where the library is (though I've never actually been in it). I trust finding the Elm Room should be relatively simply though. So you can add one to your head count!

I'll be there! 3rd year of NaNoWriMo (06: fizzled out at 8K, 07: finished at 43K). Current idea: ?Dierdre myth meets modern world meets fantasy world? Parents are fine with this, by the way (I won't have my license by then, so I'll have Mom stashed in the passenger seat).

Because others may be wondering the same thing, I'll address this here:

Yes, come late.

Even if you can only make it to the last ten minutes of any of the meetings, that's ten minutes of writing around other writers--and of feeling like you're not the only one doing this and having the chance to draw a Challenge Card that will make your plot snake off on some weird tangent that will make your brain want to explode--that you would not have had if you hadn't shown up.

Other MLs will state without pause that there is a direct correlation between showing up to write-ins and other local events and winning NaNo, even if you can't make it to every one or stay the whole time.

I'll try to make it, though I will be attending the Football Game... This is my first NaNoWriMo and I am very excited to see so many people from Purdue, or at least around the area participating.

Ack, I can't believe I missed it. Exams started piling up and I completely forgot about it. Sorry! I hope it went well for everybody who did make it.
