To lose someone you love is to alter your life for ever. You don't get over it because 'it' is the person you loved. The pain stops, there are new people, but the gap never closes. How could it? The particularness of someone who mattered enough to grieve

1 interesting fact about you: I can write backward
Will be able to participate in kick-off on either the 27th of October, or the 31st for a combo kick-off/write-in.

Synopsis of novel:

Shoot, I don't know how to explain it.

It will be in multiple parts so...

I guess I'll talk about my favorite part so far (no this is not a book
about religion it's a fantasy) When Sodom and Gamorrah were condemned
into hell God cast the cities into rubble. But two women survived, only
by the curse of Lucifer. He damned them (or saved them as he would have
called it) to eternal life living off each mortal blood. The woman were
lovers, and should have died with the rest of the masses, however in
their haste to be with each other they damned themselves to a much less
desirous fate.

I guess that's as far as I'll explain at the moment. Still working on
some quirks.

Apparently, embed isn't working. So guys, clicky on the link that says
Calendar of Vancouver events or some such thing, and you'll see what
we've got lined up so far. :)

Huh. The calendar link isn't working now, and I really have to go to bed. I'll mess with it tomorrow.

Parties are almost always in the evenings. Write-ins are throughout the day, depending on the availability of the host, but to make parties accessible to the broadest group of Wrimos, they're in the evening. We're looking at 7ish on Monday the 27th, and then a party/midnight write-in late night on Halloween.

So you're at least at this end of the Gorge then. :) I think the closest schedule event we've got are the write-ins at the Washougal library. I'm guessing that's still a bit far for you to come regularly, but we'd love to see you once, just to put a face with your name and get to know you a little bit more.

I'm hoping that next year, we'll have write-ins at more of the libraries. I'm looking particularly at branches that have a writers group meeting already, or branches that I know Wrimos use. Do you ever go to the Stevenson library?

Thanks ... and yep, I'm in the western Gorge. My main concern is not so much the distance, but that most of the write-ins are in the evening. While I'm a dedicated night person :D, I don't think I'd feel comfortable driving Hwy 14 between Washougal and Cape Horn late at night, especially since the rainy season seems to have arrived.

The library in Stevenson is lovely, and there's also a sweet little coffee shop on Main Street. Also, I believe there is a writers group over in White Salmon.

I kind of think of it as an adventure-fairytale. A young man finds himself on board a ship with an eccentric crew headed for a part of the world where magic rules, not science. The setting is something like our 16th century Age of Exploration.

Synopsis of your novel:
Here’s the basic gist of Illusions:

It's a about this girl named Kirra, who is found by a Seeker one day after she accidentally unleashes these magical powers that she never knew she had at school, accidentally killing a boy.

The Seeker takes her to this magical boarding house in an alternate dimension. Oh, and this boarding house is only for girls. At first, Kirra doesn't realize it, but the headmistress of this boarding house is pretty evil. Her own magic is weak, so she is trying to find a girl with enough power to summon a Shadow. (Kinda hard to explain, but it's sorta like a ghost, just more... solid? Not as ephemeral? I can't really explain it.)

When Kirra realizes what the headmistress really wants her to do, she runs away from the boarding school and starts to live with a group of traveling players. There, she meets Stephan, the guy she falls in love with. She also meets Mitchell, a young boy who can create illusions, and is the brother of Cara, a girl who goes to the magical boarding school.
Using the illusions that Mitchell can create, as well as some help from more friends she finds, she goes back to the magical boarding school to "fix what was wrong." Pretty much, get rid of the headmistress and get each of the girls back to where they came from.

Yeah, that’s about it. I don’t know exactly what’ll happen at the end yet.... XD

Also, if unable/able to make the Oct 27th would you participate in a Oct 31st Write-In between the hours of 11:00pm-2am the next morning?: Not. Sorry.....

XD

To lose someone you love is to alter your life for ever. You don't get over it because 'it' is the person you loved. The pain stops, there are new people, but the gap never closes. How could it? The particularness of someone who mattered enough to grieve

Name: Cameo

Novel Title: No idea.

Years doing NaNo: I'm a NaNo virgin

Ice Cream: I love love love ice cream in general but Baskin Robbins Choc Chip Mint is my fave! Or the Chocolate Oreo Twisted Frosty from Wendy's rocks too!

Interesting fact: My husband and I adopted our daughter from Guatemala. The whole process was the worst thing I've ever been through. I had to live for 9 months knowing my child was 3000 miles away living in a below par orphanage. Hardest thing ever. Thank God she's been home now for almost a year! Yay!

Participate in KO: Probably not.

Synopsis: No idea. I'm going to let it write itself, which is usually how I write.

you can find out more about me at my blog, http://thefamilytiesthatbind.blogspot.com

----------

I'm a mom to a 21 month baby girl, wife, sister, daughter and many other things to many other people. I'm writing as a selfish thing for ME.

Hello Cameo!

Welcome to NaNoWriMo! You couldn't have started in a cooler town.

Are you up for being fostered this year (as it is your first) and allowing someone to show you the ropes? Or would you prefer to do your own thing?

If you do want to be adopted please let us know in the adopt-a-newbie post in the regional forum. We'd be happy to help you out, and be your encouragement this year.

Hello Alisha!

Welcome to NaNoWriMo! We're excited to see you up and around in the forums.

If you decide to come to the Kick-Off party you won't regret it. It is likely, however, that on the 31st you will meet a few of the group.

Also, since you're new to the scene, if you would like to be adopted by a more seasoned member please let us know. We want to help in anyway we can. Please sign up (if you decide to) in the adopt-a-newbie thread.

I love Tillamook Mudslide ice cream! Something about the fudge, me thinks. Though, more recently I've been a sherbet/sorbet person. I had this huge gillato kick and ever since I've been searching for fruity ice creams that are similar in taste to what my fav's were. They should have a lemon gillato icecream come out. Oh man, now I need to find a place that serves it. I'm having a ice-cream fit.

Hello Amara!

Your story DOES sound good. I don't think you should apologize for anything. Really, it's your baby. So, why shouldn't it be exciting to you? Just a little tip, if something is exciting for you, it's likely to be exciting for someone else.

Quote:

Name: Amara
Novel Title: Haven't decided on one yet
Years doing NaNo: 2007
Favorite flavor of ice cream: Peppermint Candy
1 interesting fact about you: I almost went to Space Camp when I was a kid.
Would you be able to participate in a Kick-Off held on Oct 27 (Monday) between the hours of 5-9 at all? If you can make it for any portion of the kick-off, please state this. Also, if unable/able to make the Oct 27th would you participate in a Oct 31st Write-In between the hours of 11:00pm-2am the next morning? I honestly have no idea.
Synopsis of your novel: A "zombie" story that focuses on our ridiculous obsession with being politically / ethically "correct" in times of peril & the aftermath. I promise it's more exciting than it sounds :
