Boys and gals,
It's that time of year again, and as per the usual tradition, professional writer Lisa Friedman and all-round swank hipster Nico Janssen (me, baby) will be presenting a two-hour kick-off workshop for returning and brand new NaNoers in and around Amsterdam.
The venue is the ABC Treehouse, and while it's become way harder to secure a slot in their schedule than it was when we started these kick-offs four years ago, the American Book Centre has graciously offered to uphold the tradition and give us a nice big space in which to gather bucketloads of eager writers.
This year we're expecting a bigger turnout than even last year, so we'll have to do something about the chairs. Not only do we get to do the workshop on the evening before NaNoWriMo, but it's also on a Friday, so all those folks who couldn't make it in previous years due to travel now have no excuse!
Here's the skinny:
- Date: 31 October
- Time: 7:30 PM until 9:30 PM
- Location: ABC Treehouse
Voetboogstraat 11
1012 XK Amsterdam - Cost: Free, of course!
- Registration: Right here: http://www.treehouse.abc.nl/index.php?page=details&itemid=846
Lisa Friedman is a professional, published writer who also runs the Amsterdam Writing Workshop. On October 25, Lisa will be leading a two-day workshop on The Novel. More information is available here: http://www.treehouse.abc.nl/index.php?page=details&itemid=808
Nico Janssen often can't hear what you're saying over the sound of how awesome he is.
Come one, come all. Bring snacks to share. Aside from fellow members of the existing Dutch and Belgian NaNo community, these workshops draw in fresh blood; attendees from Lisa's workshops, who want to get in a little more free face-time with her, and also random interested parties who noticed the flyers and thought they'd give it a go.
It's always been a blast, and we look forward to seeing a lot of familiar faces, and a lot of new ones.
Remember, more info and sign-up at http://www.treehouse.abc.nl/index.php?page=details&itemid=846!

Oy!
So, it turns out I *don't* get e-mail notifications from this thread after all, grr. Sorry, folks, for leaving you in the lurch.
Yes, an e-mail to info@amsterdamwriting.com to confirm your attendance is enough to sign up, and it's still free!
Additionally, since it's Halloween, Lisa had a rocking awesome idea: who's up for dressing up like their favorite literary figure? :)

Yeah, Nico what is the time it's going to start? Since I'm coming from the south part and I have to leave around 16.30 to be in Amsterdam around 7 o clock and still have to eat somewhere it's nice to know when I have to leave and when I have the chance to eat :).

I'm just far too eager for my own good.
Also, anyone who wants to bring biscuits or something to drink, it's highly recommended. It's going to be a packed house :)
