Hudson Valley Region

I am Hudson Valley--Ossining to be exact. Anybody else nearby? I thing there are folks in Tarrytown and Peekskill.

I'm actually in Ossining too (moved here in June), originally from the Poughkeepsie area.

I'm in Poughkeepsie as a student, so I'm in this region and my home region, but most of November I'll be in good old Dutchess County!

Hi folks. My permanent home is in Ancram - just up the Taconic from a lot of you. But I'm on a 3 year assignment in Hong Kong China at the moment. I'd love to "listen in" to this group though - to keep up with what is happening at "home". You must be moving into the "leaf peeper" season soon. How I miss it!

I'm in the Hudson Valley too, but the Northern Hudson Valley - Greene County. Rockland would be a further hike than Albany (which is the other region I'm in).

I'm in Yorktown Hts., Westchester County.

Oh, that's fabulous! So far, there are three of us in the lower hudon valley region - two of us from Rockland and you from Westchester. Everyone else seems to be much further away.

I agree! I should've thought about that when I started this thread. However, this is a really good way to see who you are near and maybe some compromises can be made for folks to meet half way! Or, you may find your next door neighbor here too! You never know. ~Ruthie

Oh, Ossining! That's in Westchester, right? I don't know all the town names but so far it seems like there are two from Westchester and two from Rockland. Since both counties are so close it might be a good group to make! ~Ruthie

I like to write fantasy and horror. I had quite a few ideas for next month but finally settled on one. It might be nice to meet somewhere to bounce ideas off each other. Sometimes libraries have meeting rooms or private rooms.

I am a librarian and just want to note that you should check with the library before you go. In Yonkers you need to reserve the meeting rooms at least a week in advance because we are very busy. Other libraries may or may not work that way.

There are usually some more Rockland people eventually. Mostly high school age. I know a few people doing it.

Hi everyone!

I'm in Hyde Park, but I am the ML for Poughkeepsie. This is my second year as ML and I agree that New York, elsewhere is pretty large.

For those of you nearby (and I saw a couple people from Poughkeepsie or nearby), we are going to have our Kickoff Party on Sunday October 26th at the Panera Bread across from the Galleria Mall in Poughkeepsie at 2pm. I am trying to work out a meet up schedule for write-ins but am planning on moving between different coffeehouses, so that more people can get a chance to come out.

This is my first NaNo, so forgive my ignorance. However, I believe that a write-in is where several of us get together to get to know each other and we write, independently, and probably bounce ideas off of each other and encourage one another.
