For those of you just checking in on the forums, here are the details thus far for the South Denver NaNo stuff:
What: The South Denver Weekly Meet-up
This is a SOCIAL meet, just so that everyone is aware...some writing may take place and we try to spend at least some time talking about our novels and offering advice to stuck writers and whatnot, but the primary purpose is just to relax, take a small break from NaNo, and bounce around some ideas so that we can get back to our novels afterwards with a fresh perspective!
When: 7:30pm-whenever on Tuesdays (I live within walking distance, ie next door, so I can stay until people stop showing up!)
Where: The Perkins on Colorado Blvd and Buchtel Blvd, just to the south of I-25 across the street from the movie theater and Dave and Buster's. (If you need directions or help getting there via public transpo, let me know!)
What: The South Denver Weekly Write-In
This is the writing-specific meet, not a social meet...some socializing may happen, but please keep it limited since the primary purpose is to write. We'll be having some word wars and informal competitions this year as well, so there may be prizes to be won!
When: 4:00-6:30pm Saturdays (it was going to be Sundays, but most of the places I contacted said Saturdays work better for them, so we've switched)
Where: UPDATE! The Tattered Cover Highlands Ranch is a GO! We're in the conference room.
These are the OFFICIAL meets, but remember to feel free to set up unofficial ones of your own! I might even show up at a few with some extra swag as a thank you ^_^. If you do set up a another meet in the south metro area, be it weekly or just a onetime thing, just post the details here following the above format, and hopefully people will make it!

8: Turn LEFT onto S COLORADO BLVD/ CO-2 N.
2.1 mi
9: Make a U-TURN onto S COLORADO BLVD/ CO-2 S.

Those are the last three steps to get to the Perkins. Why do I need to U-Turn? Is it a one way street or something?

*Blinks* TOTALLY not. You just need to turn left onto Buchtel and take an immediate immediate right into the Perkins parking lot. I have no idea where that last step even came from...weird!

Now that I've moved to south Denver (Lone Tree), I'll be able to attend more write-ins down here. :-)
I'm friendly with the owner of CJ's Custard (off of Yosemite and Lincoln) and I think we could probably get an evening a week set up for write-ins there. It's relatively small, but the majority of people that go in there don't tend to stay - just order and leave. LOL
I can also offer up the Clubhouse of my apartment complex for weekly write-ins, as well. There's a full kitchen so we can have some food/drinks and stuff. There's also a room that is separate that is officially the "theater room" but has big comfy chairs and such that would probably work ok for a write-in. During the week it's free but the weekends carry a fee deposit (a whopping $20 which I don't mind throwing down if y'all would prefer a separate room). The only days I would suggest NOT using the Clubhouse or the theater room are Sundays and Mondays - because of football. My complex is off of Park Meadows Drive.
Just let me know if y'all would be interested and I'll get things set up. :-)

Hey, Niassa! Nice to see another transplant from FoCo here in our fair capitol. ^_^
I'd be up for a write-in during the week in the Lone Tree area. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are all looking pretty sparse so far. If you want to see who would be interested in a write-in in your area, feel free to start a thread with day, time, location, and format (chatting, writing, mix of both), and any other pertinent details.
I can't say no to custard, but your clubhouse sounds awesome, too, especially the free wi-fi. Thanks for offering these places up!

I'll be coming to some of the Perkins meet ups this year again. I used to live half a mile from there, but I moved, so I may not show up if I don't feel like driving. I'm lazy, I know. And I'll try for some of the write-ins too. Saturday works great since I'm not working Saturdays anymore. Of course, with my luck, they'll put me on Saturday for the month of November.

I've got an "in" with a small coffeehouse in West Wash Park (Wash Perk). It's not huge, but it would be empty anytime after 4 pretty much any day of the week (they close at 4 but are happy to stay open for events such as this). Free wi-fi, good coffee, super-supportive owners.
If anyone wants to participate in a regular, or even irregular, write-in, let me know which evening would be best, and I'll see if I can schedule-up something.

Hi, Jeffersonic, and welcome! Feel free to start another thread for this proposed write-in; I am guessing it might get buried in this one. I would definitely be up for a Wash Park-area write-in. Write-ins don't have to be every week; you can also arrange a one-time deal.
If you do start a new thread, make sure to include place (address), time, date/day of the week (if you have one to propose), and rules, i.e., the format of the meeting (writing, chatting, a little of both?) Once you have all the details nailed down, one of your friendly Denver MLs will add it to the calendar.
Sundays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and to some extent Thursdays are all quite sparse in the write-in/meet-up area right now.

Hi Michelle! We usually start meeting in November, but there are a few October and December events, too.
The Saturday south Denver write-ins will be on 11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 11/22. and 11/29.
You can see the calendar of all scheduled events for Denver here: http://dennanos.org/?page_id=6
Hope to see you at the meet-ups!

Anyone got any thing going on in the Arapahoe / Yosomite area??? the less driving the more likely I'll make it... as long as work allows.
Where? When? Anyone? I would love to set something up but I am really new to Colorado and have no clue where any of the cool places are- tips are welcome.

Welcome, gailsart! I think the closest things to your area that we have planned are the Wednesday meetups in Lone Tree, which are right by the Lincoln light rail stop, which is a bit south of Park Meadows mall. You can check the calendar for details:
http://dennanos.org/?page_id=6
Even if you don't know places, feel free to start a thread if you want to find a group closer to you to meet with. Chances are the locals in that area will be able to suggest places. Isn't there a Barnes & Noble close to you, and possibly also a Starbucks?
Hope to see you around!

Actually, this reminds me...this isn't the one that Spleen is refering to in the post above, but for those of you who weren't here in 2005, the Barnes & Noble on Colorado Blvd (aka the one in Glendale) is NOT meet-up or write-in friendly. Back in 2005 we gave it a try, one of the managers went kind of ballistic here on the forums and told us we couldn't use them anymore, and I've tried to make amends every year since then but they still will not allow us to schedule anything there, at all. Single-person writing might be okay, I haven't tried it, but if any of you are brainstorming places to meet that fit your schedule or location better, avoid that particular store. I'll put up with all the griping and yelling at me when I call them about this, don't put yourselves through it as well!

I will try to make some of the Perkins meetups, although not on 11/4 (I will be glued to election news). Otherwise unless I missed it all the writing meetups sound too far south for me to commit so I'll have to keep scouting around there.

If you were at the Highlands Ranch Tattered Cover, you were at the right place. Turns out we are in a corner area at the end of the store furthest from the coffee shop, right by the front windows. It's an area with sofas and chairs that is designated for book club meetings and reserved for us from 4pm to 6:30 pm. I'm brand new to NaNo'ing and didn't know what to expect, turned out to be very pleasant *and* very productive too.
Hope you can make it next Saturday.
