I know you're out there! This is your ML, Liz. Time to start planning. It's going to be a good year, and I bet we can beat the Bahamas at a word count again.

I'm here! I'm here!

I really don't have time for this -- I'm frantically trying to finish a Nov. 30 revision deadline (self-imposed: like an idiot, I booked myself for November!). But I don't think I'll be able to resist the fun.

I don't know if Amy and Larry are joining us this year though.

Sheryl! Hi! Good to see you!

And good for you for being more prepared. I'm even LESS prepared, and that's saying something.

I do have an idea though. I'm not sure it'll work, but November's probably the best time to find out.

Hi, Katrina!

Busy as usual, I see! I figure if my original idea doesn't work, it'll morph into something eventually.

LOL. That's exactly what I'm counting on: it morphing into something. Right now my idea is a VERY serious tragic drama. But I can't sell a tragic drama right after my current WIP which is definitely humor (albeit dark humor). So how can I morph my tragedy into humor????

That's the Q for November.

Hello, Sheryl! Hello, Katrina, our new co-ML!! How's it going? Just got back from my class at UW. It's such a great class! The only problem with it is that it will leave little time for my novel. Tonight, we were reviewing Roland Barthes' 'Death of the Author.' Very interesting, but I don't think I like the name of that in connection with Nano!

Hi all!

I finally made it in here after a long internal debate in which I told myself that under no circumstances was I going to participate in Nano this year. How foolish of me! Nano is too wily and seductive for my weak attempts at resistance. I should have known there was no way I could stay away.

How is the novel preparation going for everyone?

Amy

Hooray! I was hoping NaNo would lure you in, Amy! (You'll have to be Amy #1, now, with 2 Amies in our group -- that's right, isn't it? Drop the y and add i-e-s?)

Hello! I'm Stefania and I'm from the Winlock area. This will be my first year NaNo-ing and I'm REALLY excited. i can barely wait to get started. *waves*

so... is there reason behind choosing bermuda to compete with? is it just a similar number of participants?

Hello, Stefania! Delighted to meet you! Actually, I made a mistake -- last year we took on the Bahamas, not Bermuda (sorry, Bermuda!). We chose that country because we had the same number of official registered participants. Unfortunately for them, after taking up the challenge, only 2 or 3 of their members actually took part, and we had 5 very verbose, anxious-to-beat-an-entire-country members. It was fun. They had to google us to find where in the world we were.

I'm excited for the start of NaNo, but really, I wish I were more prepared. I just don't feel ready yet. I guess I have a week, don't I? I suppose that should plenty of time, right?

I would say of course, but i'm one of those "Ohihaveanideaihavetowriteitdownnowohwaititjustturnedintotenpages" kind of people! lol.

so, is anyone else in our region writing Fantasy? I'm thinking my novel is going to be about Paranormal Romance, I've had an idea cooking for about two weeks now and can't wait to start!

Teach me to stay away from the Forums for a day!!

Hey, Sylista. Nice to meet you. Delighted to have you with us. Hope to meet you in person.

I adore paranormal romance. I can't wait to hear about your book.

I myself write Women's Fiction, not fantasy, but it doesn't seem to matter much what genre we write. We can still be supportive and learn a lot from each other.

Whoo hoo! Grab the saddle, here we go!

I fancy myself as a writer of literary fiction, but if you read my post under the novel planning thread, you might wonder how I could possibly have such an idea. I want to try my hand at comedy this time, but we'll see. I tend to become very morose when I sit quietly by myself in front of a keyboard for too long at a time, which doesn't lend itself well to comedy. But, like I say, we'll see.
