I'm here! Working on the outlines this weekend in hopes of making them a little better. Specifically I'm looking at the opening scenes to make sure they are really making good use of the "Sentence Lite" so as to draw in a reader. After that I'll start going through the rest of the outline to also bring it up to par. Thank goodness for Scriveners index cards that can be colored. It's really helping me keep track of POV in an easy visual manner. :)

Glad to see other Think Sideways students here. :)
I guess we all have the same idea. Use what we're learning for this year's NaNoWriMo. I can hardly wait to get started!

I'm here, sweating titles for my "book." The rest is coming together nicely, but my title has all the luster of day old mud. :P

I wouldn't sweat the title right now. Each year give my NaNo a "working title", sometimes it sticks through revision sometimes it doesn't.
my working title this year is "After Life" since the MC dies in the first scene. It may change the further I get into the writing, but for now it works for me.
let us know what the novel is about and maybe we can come up with something, or at least give you some ideas to kick around.

I'm gearing up, too! In addition to class, I've been doing this other challenge, "100 words, 100 days," to build the habit of writing every single day. I'm into the 2nd month, and the ideas tap is really flowing, so I should be full-stream-ahead (sorry about the pun) by Nov 1.
I'm loving the idea of "candy bar scenes" so much; maybe I can write a whole story with only those scenes.
Think 50k words is a lot? One of the regulars in the Maryland forum aims to write 100k--and he did it last year!
Cheers,
Nicky

My working title's "Dragonheart", which probably won't fit at all when I figure out a bit more of my story, but I was busting to try making a "cover" for my Novel Info page, so I just grabbed the first vaguely suitable thing that came to mind. Hopefully something better (and more original) will occur to me later.
Haven't done a lot of planning yet, partly on purpose since I don't want to feel stale going into it, but I'm happy with what I've got so far. Feeling quite excited! Nervous too, of course. I wish I was one of those people that can write 100,000 words or more with no trouble, but I'm far too slow. One of my buddies last year wrote TWO novels, each more than 50,000 words. I was very impressed, but 50,000 was a big enough achievement for me!

I found it, too! I'm still struggling to finish my WIP but I should make it all right for NaNo.
See you then,

Hi, I'm Sonya, new to thinking sideways, not so new to NaNoWriMo. I think the two should complement each other quite well, though.

Hi Dr.p grace and sonya
Welcome to Think Sideways and Camp Sideways
I agree that Think Sideways and NanoWriMo will compliment each other nicely my only concern is if I can fit in enough time for both : D

Hello all! I'm bagheera_101 on TS. I just joined this recent class of TS, so I'm a bit of a newbie.
I wrote in AugNo, but due to some stupid life circumstances and falling out of the habit, I didn't win. Now I'm back and ready to win the "real thing"! =D Can't wait to talk more with everyone!

Do you know how long it took me to check back to the NaNo thread at the forum and figure out you guys had a group here? Sometimes I think I get dumber with each breath.
Anyway, good to see everyone.

Hi,
I just wanted to say hello and I'm anticipating the delicious torture. I've thought about doing NaNo for some years now and finally decided that now was as good as any other time. It will be good to have companions on the way.

Hi Lady Viv
You are new to the course I am newish and thought you had been a member longer than myself? You made quite a splash on the forums :D I don't agree with your opinions on HP but I liked hearing your point of view.
I went through this thread and added all the Think Sidwayers as my writing buddies. If however, some of you don't want to be my friend just let me know and I will take you off my buddy list. Be advised though that I expect friendship bracelets back from all of my non-friends.

Hey, at least you said what you thought. And you weren't nasty about it. I could tell you felt strongly about what you were saying, but you weren't nasty. Everybody's got a hot button. HP is just not my hot button. ;)
The How to Think Sideways community is one of the most awesome groups of people I've ever had the pleasure to be around. I will genuinely be sorry when the class ends, but I know I'll be getting more stuff done (instead of playing on the forums).

No. I think Holly is going to try to keep them available. I, personally, am going to try to spend less time on the forums and more time writing when I finish the course. :D
