Hello, fellow Binghamtonian!
Actually, I'm in Johnson City. That's close enough.
There is no eat,
There is no sleep,
There is only the word-count. ;-)

Hey! Thanks for the reply! I live outside of Binghamton too. Do you know of any writing support groups in this area? I only know of one but they meet on a night I'm unavailable.

*sigh*
It's probably the same group I left because they met on a night when I'm unavailable.

bwh checking in once again.
I'm in Binghamton proper; was in Endicott before that.
(Never did find a good writing support group, though.)

There's a writer's group that meets at the end of the month - I'll post details when I have them.

I'm in Kirkwood, just outside of Binghamton. I am interested in a writing group as well. There seems to be a number of us lokking. Perhaps we could consider meeting and forming one.

Hi! I go to Binghamton University, but I'm from Syracuse. It's great there are other writers around here, because I haven't yet found anyone on campus (besides my roommate, oddly enough) who writes.

I'm in Endwell. Close enough. I'd thought of going to Barnes and Noble in Vestal for a writing group, but it always seems crowded at the tables.

I'm in Afton? Haha about half an hour away from Bing, but I go there a lot.
There's actually a writing group in my town that meets every 2nd and 4th tuesday (or monday? I don't remember) of each month.

Apalachin here.
In the past I've met some local NaNo'ers over at B&N. Apologies if it is anyone who has posted here-- I am terrible at remembering screen names! It might be fun to do it again.

I'm going to suggest that anyone in the Greater Binghamton area meet at the Barnes& Noble in Vestal on Sunday November 9 at noon either in the cafe or the big table next to the cafe. This can be a shot in the arm to beging the second week of writing. Introductions can be made for the first 15-20 minutes and perhaps write together for 45-60 minutes or longer depending on the group. If the people want to continue writing or sharing after that have at it.
Let me know and I'll have a sign ready. If there is a number of us I can call B&N to see if we could reserve a table.

I can do that! The planets must be perfectly aligned as my kids are with their dad that weekend and I don't have to work. Yippee!
Now to figure out that annoying little problem of not having a laptop....hmmmm... I'll find one some way, somehow!

aw, dang, I don't have a laptop either. Hmmm... well, I could always write it out the old-fashioned way, then type it up later. :)

Don't worry about not having a laptop. Paper and pen are most respectable. It will be a delight to meet all of you.

Wish I could make it on the 9th but that day on the calendar is already packed with stuff.
BTW, I am in the Town of Union - about half way between Endicott and Maine.

How is everyone doing as this first week ends? Quite frankly i'm stuck but this too shall pass.
B&N didn't get back to me about "reserving an area. I talked to one of the workers and he said generally there is no reserving. Anywho...
I will try to be there before noon to get the table or cafe tables together. Hopefully I'll have some sort of sign for you to find me.
It will be wonderful to meet you all.!!!
For those who can't make it Sunday. Is it possible to meet during the day or evening 11/11? Just throwing it out there.

Sorry I missed the meet up, today was my fall down day; the day when sort of just collapse in a heap.
I'm a little behind in my intended word count (and my novel sucks) but I'm pressing on.
Maybe next Sunday I'll be a little more together.

Thanks again for organizing, Kate! I enjoyed our talk very much and hope we can meet up again, if only for a post-NaNo celebrations/commiserations.
I'm doing OK, way behind on wordcount but pleased with the ideas that are coming out.

hey y'all, glad to find another region to find some info.
Kate, thanks for setting up that meet up it was a blast, even if we lacked in the writing part, (I was so glad you guys were treating us as equals and not as kids, it really made it that much more of a blast for me personally)
My wordcount is still lacking, any tips and tricks to get something cranking?
By the way, is anyone aware of a group at JC? (the HS has a Lit club for the students but thats about it around here@.@)

Hey Wits!
You guys became inspiration to me. My work often takes me to the darker side of humanity. It is a breath of fresh air to meet people with ideas and dreams. Elena stirs the pot of possiblities with her insights. I enjoyed the afternoon.
To beef up word count I put in a quirky character that somehow points the MC forward. So when i need to that character can pop up again as a reference or a catylst. I pick out pictures in magazines to describe.
Right now it seems i have my ending in the middle of the book. So I am doing some backstory work and ho[pefully it will flesh out the story better.
Keep writing, something will come.
I have to work this Sunday 11/16 but if anyone wants to get together Sunday evening around 6:30PM let me know. Could be at the B&N or possibly the Cyber Cafe. Tables are easier are easier to get at CC. Now that we've met each other we could get down to some writing.
Go lightly,
Kate

My novel is sucky as well. I'm hoping to pick things out and use for the re-write.
What day is best for you for a meet-up? I was thinking about using the Cyber Cafe for one. They have plenty of tables, good coffee and a tad quieter. Let me know. Would love to meet you.
FYI there is an adult writer's group that meets at the B&N wednesday 11/19 at 7PM. I went for the first time last month and enjoyed hearing other's writings.
