Walla Walla?

Ready to go Lavinia! I have no idea how this year is going to turn out as I juggle my first year of college >_> scary!!

Hey Missburnout! I remember you. How did you do last year? Did you finish? I didn't but I plan to this year. I had to drive to Tri-cities yesterday so I spent the quiet time on the road both ways figuring out the plot for my novel. What will you be writing about? Are you the one who went down to Starbucks regularly last year? I REALLY want to set up a write-in. What fun! ~Lavinia

Nah I stayed at home and cranked out the words until I won! I still have yet to actually finish the novel but I'm working on it! This year I'm drifting more towards a comedy-fantasy like story, but the details are still being hammered out. Normally the characters banter in the car on the way to work so that's always a treat =).

Fabulous! Glad you're here. Now how can we recruit more peeps? Honestly, I know a handful of writers but they're freelancers. My story has some good bones, so hopefully I'll make it this year. I'm sure I will. I've had a lot of stresses this year and they're mostly resolved now, so my focus will be on starting and finishing my novel. I don't have a name for it yet, which kinda stinks; usually the title comes first for me. Oh well. ~Lavinia

I'm super excited! The only people I know who do nanowrimo here in Walla2 are me, my brothers (one of whom can't this year) and one friend of mine who's... a bit out there. And of us four, I'm the only girl! I'm a Senior at Wa-Hi (woot!) and it's my like, 5th year trying to kick out a novel, but I'm so going to this year! I'm way pumped! I'd totally love to do a write in or something like that; I think that would be way cool.

Hi Aimada! That is really great. You can do it. I'd love to do a write in. We could meet somewhere like Starbucks or Coffee Perk or whatever and write our little hearts out. I was sure hoping we could get a few more members though. We have another week, so we'll see if anyone else visits. Welcome! Keep checking back and we'll see what we can pull together. ~L

I didn't actually think there would be anyone else in WW besides myself, and of course my good friend who pressured me into this. (: But very awesome. And I'm definitely voting on a write-in.

Welcome Icarry! I'm guessing that I'm the oldest in the group here. But I promise not to act it, OK? Looks like we may get enough for a write-in afterall.

I'm in Walla Walla and am most likely making an attempt again this year. I have yet to "win", but one can always try...

we should do a write in! we should get together at coffee perk some time XD this is going to be the best nanowrimo ever, now that i know there are others in walla2 who participate!

I like that idea, though Coffee Perk is so cold all the time...

well, i'm sure we can come to some kind of agreement on where to meet. there's starbucks, hastings, and i'm sure there are some other places. coffee perk is just what was at the top of my head. =]

We've got, what? Four or five people now. Sorry, I'm too lazy to go back to see. I like Coffee Perk because the chairs are comfortable. But sometimes the people are just too interesting and I just HAVE to people watch. I do go there to write periodically though. But yeah, I hadn't thought of Hastings. That might be a good place. They don't really have snacky foods though.

Is Merchants open in the evenings? I know they have some comfy places upstairs. Hmmm...any other ideas for places to meet? Coffee Connections has that room with the long table, but I don't think we'd take up a whole table. That might be an option. Please do share your preferences for places to meet. And in the meantime, what is everyones schedule? What are your best times and days to meet? How much time would you want to devote to this?

except sundays and wednesdays, i'm free every day. weekdays after six, and all day saturday. and believe me, i'm willing to devote a lot of time to this. i'm going to win this thing!

I'm free most weekdays in the afternoon but I work all day Saturdays and Sundays are my race to get homework done. Oh college! What about the bakery place across from the medicine shop? I think that's only a block away from coffee perk and they have the most AMAZING cheesecake brownies! Good coffee and tea too!

Yeah, I think the Patisserie could be great. My second votes would be Merchants or Starbucks. I haven't checked out Hastings' cafe, but it might work, too. Plus it's within walking distance for me, so that would be nice.

As for days... I'm so freakin' busy. I could do Tuesdays or Thursdays after 5:00, and Saturdays and Sundays pretty much any time. I just need to keep part of the weekend for paying work.

Patiserie sounds like a plan. And from what I see, Tuesday or Thursday after 6pm would work for all. Is that right?

Anybody know what time the Patiserie closes on weeknights?

I think it closes after 7 but I haven't been there in a really long time so I don't remember. I hope around 8 or 9 is more accurate.

Hey! I just signed up and would LOVE to meet at the Patisserie this week. I've been wanting to do NaNoWriMo for years now, and this is the first November I'm actually going to have the time. I'm glad to see other Walla Wallaians here. :)

This Tuesday is good for me! I think it'd be good to be sure that we meet where we can have two hours, if we want to though. If anyone is downtown over the weekend, could you check out the hours at the pattiserie (I think I spell it differently every time I write it...lol)? I drove past it today but didn't stop to see what the hours were.

Other than that, I say it's a go!

It is officially November. Anyone written anything yet? I just happen to be up watching a scary movie in honor (lol) of Halloween, but I'll start writing in the morning. Keep in mind, if you keep up with the daily word count, you should have something like 4,800 words by the time we meet on Tuesday. Dang...I'd better get started! ~Lavinia

the Patisserie is open 9am-8pm on Wednesday & Thursday and 9am-10pm on Friday & Saturday. I forget what the hrs. for Sunday are... i think 9am-5pm... maybe. good coffee. awesome pastries. :)

Uh-oh. You didn't mention the hours on Tuesdays. I hope that doesn't mean they're closed Monday and Tuesdays or something. We don't have a plan b, so need to figure this out ahead of time.

So how is everyone doing on their novel? I got a few words written yesterday. It was a rough start as I find it REALLY HARD to turn off my internal editor. But I know from past experience, that it gets easier as you go along. Don't forget to report your word count here so we can cheer you on...or give you a kick in the pants if you need it...lol. ~L

Bad news. I just looked at the Patisserie's website and they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Darn. Would Thursday work for everyone? If not, we'll have to look at an alternative meeting place. ~L

Tuesday's better than Thursdays for me, so let's do either Coffee Perk or Starbucks at 6:00. Coffee perk is probably better since they have that big table. Coffee Perk at 6:00?

Coffee Perk sounds great! I'll try to be there but I have a paper due the night before. Oooooh boy. Thank goodness it's only a draft!

Also, I found out my power will be out ALL DAY on tuesday the 18th. Thanks a lot city of Walla Walla.

My word-count isn't working. Any one else have this problem?
