I'm an MIT sophomore about to start my fourth novel. Any other MIT WriMos out there? It would be great if we had enough people to hold write-ins, but even if we don't we can all commiserate here about the joys of simultaneously writing a 50,000-word novel and braving the firehose.

Hey! I'm a MIT grad student (comparative media studies) and I'm going to try to do NaNo again - as long as I can front-load my papers enough. I haven't managed to win for years, mostly due to school, so I'm hopeful that I can learn from my mistakes and pull it together...

I'd love to do write-ins. I can't provide a venue (I rent a room, not an apartment) but I vote that we do a kick-off at the La Luna Caffe, my favorite coffee shop in Cambridge... Forget 1369!

Hi, I am another MIT grad student. I would be happy to join in a kendall/central/harvard sq write in. Looks like there is already one at ABP for Nov 18th. This will be my first NaNoWriMo, I am excited! Now I just have to decide what story to work on!

There is indeed a write-in on Nov. 18th at the Au Bon Pain near MIT. They're pretty welcoming to hungry wrimos, so I recommend it as a good meeting place near MIT. The Au Bon Pain in Central Square is another good location, and if you can be inconspicuous, Toscanini's in Central Square has a great atmosphere.

If one of you folks plan a meet-up, please let Anna or me know so we can add it to the calendar and draw some more people in as well.

Cheers,
Travis (tkphotog)

Hey, frosh here. This'll be my fourth NaNo, and I've won all three previous years, so we'll have to see if I can keep up the pace at MIT! I almost decided to skip it, but the thought made me too sad, and if I can't do it this year, I certainly can't do it next year. I mean, this is what pass/no record is for, right?!

Anyway, I live in EC; where's everyone else? It'd be cool to have regular write-ins around campus.

Also, what are you guys writing about?

Yay, people!

I also live in EC. I know at least one other person in EC who's doing NaNo (and two more who have tried in the past but decided not to this year).

Since we now have a few people who responded, write-ins are starting to look feasible. What days are good for you guys to come? Tuesdays and Saturdays already have Bostonwide write-ins scheduled, but other than that we can probably find some days that work.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are bad for me, but I can probably make it otherwise. Fridays might be nice, or maybe Sundays or Mondays.

Also, I just noticed that we joined on the same day.

Hi, frosh here! This is my second NaNo, but my first was a couple years ago and I didn't quite make it to 50K. Figured I'd take the plunge and try again this year and see how things go!

Another frosh here, who consistently fails at NaNo and yet never gives up.

...Hey, whoa, Mish, is that you? 'sLee. I didn't know you did NaNo! *Glomps*

So, I'm another ECer according to MIT Housing (I'm really a Randomite, but they don't think that, so I'll humor them), and we DEFINITELY need to schedule write-ins. Personally, I don't think that the write-ins need to specifically not-conflict with Bostonwide ones, as some of us do NOT have the time to get out to those all the time. (Tooling and all.) (Or laziness.)

Yay, MIT NaNoers! There's another on my hall who's doing it, or wants to (he has no plot yet). I'll shut up now.

I live in Alpha Delta Phi (well, the grad student version of it - on top of Alpha Delta Phi) and I am most often free Wednesday afternoons and evenings (I can't really make it out to the Boston write-ins because I'm so busy!) I'd be really excited if folks had a time on Wednesday afternoons or evenings that they wanted to meet at Toscanini's to write in.

Since there seem to be a lot of ECers doing NaNo, anyone want to set up write-ins in/near EC? Where would a good place be, and what times/days are good for everyone? Also, does anyone want to do a kickoff write-in on Friday at midnight?

@flourish: I could be up for that, assuming I get my Thursday p-set done early. I'm free all afternoon aside from p-setting. Where exactly is Toscanini's, again?

I realize this is a little last-minute, but since no one else has said anything, I'm willing to host EC NaNoers for a midnight kickoff tomorrow. I live on 1st West (Stickmen). Non-EC people are welcome--since it's on the first floor, just stand outside the lounge window and try to get someone's attention. I can't guarantee snacks, but if anyone else feels inclined to bring some... (hint hint)

By the way, Toscanini's is right by where Main Street meets Mass Ave.

To clarify: by tomorrow I meant today, October 31, or rather the wee hours of November 1.
