Anyone writing in Hamburg?

I'm interested in doing the challenge this year, and want to know if anyone is meeting up in Hamburg. German, english...whatsoever, is fine. As long as there are fellow writers out there.

In the hopes that Hamburg is hidding authors,
Marie

At your service, Ma'am

Don't know if there will be write-ins. Shall we start a kick-off?
Rainer? What about you? You owe me a personal meeting :))

R.K.

Oh! Life!

Oh we should definately get together. I don't have enough author aquaintances, and the ones I have live on the other side of the globe. I knew there were writers in Hamburg....they are just well hidden!

Should we meet up sometime this month? For coffee and cookies :D and, hopefully, plot bunnies on our tails. The best days for me are Monday evenings. Or weekends. I suppose I can also do early afternoons as long as we would meet in the city.

Weekend would be great in case my daughter wants to join us (although I will do ANYTHING to have her see a friend :)).

Shall we start on Nov. 1 in the afternoon ?
That would suit me best since I expect two projects until the end of october.

November 1st sounds good to me! How old is your daughter? Maybe you can make her write ;)

Does anyone know of a nice central location where we could write quietly? Not-so-frequented Starbucks are usually a good place. I only of two in the center of the city (Alster area) and they would be busy during the weeken I'm sure. We can always meet at someone's place if they have room and a coffee machine. :D

I'm ok with anything, as long as it is within resonable distance of an U-bahn or bus stop. :)

We live near Rübenkamp and it is not too far from Barmbek (U2 and U3). Perhaps we could stay out of the city and meet someplace else where it is "central" for all of us.

Tell me your destinations everybody and I will try my very best ... uh, ah - sorry, I've just re-read Dinner for one :)). I think we will find a nice place. The idea of meeting at someone's place is not so bad. Unfortunately our neighbours are not the quiet kind. They love to DIY any day and time but the workdays and -hours. The others living below ... well, skip them :(. I would love to get away.

My daughter is 10. Sometimes she comes up with a story of her own (wonder where she's got that from?). Perhaps she might work miracles and catch some hiding plot bunnies :D.

Good idea, we could send her hunting for bunnies while we write :D

I live in the Bramfelder chaussee, near the Ohlsdorfer Friedhof. I can get to a U1, U2 and S1 easily enough.

Do you guys know what story you will be working on yet? I have a few options, if nothing else comes up until then of course, which I am considering.

haha, great! Maybe you know a place around here then? My appartment has a spacious enough living room, depending on how many we will be. You could even sit on the Balcony comfortably if the weather is pleasant.

But the husband would be around. And he has yet to fall over into writing hell...he's a good beta reader though, I've trained him well :D

I'm happy with anywhere that is comfy.

p.s. you all writing paper, or computer?

Hey everyone! I'm Nanoing this year in Hamburg as well. I did it last year in Bonn and wasn't pleased with the results.
But with an interesting city like Hamburg as homebase it has to better this year, right?

Anyway, I'm up for any weekend or November Firsty writing action. Has anyone solved the location question yet? I'm writing on my laptop so I'd need some place with power holes.

I look forward to meeting y'all and stealing your noveling ideas!

Hey, there are more and more popping up here :)

No, I haven't had the time yet. But I would suggest Schachcafe at Rübenkamp or else look up the pubs on Bramfelder Chaussee or Fuhlsbüttler Straße (if it wouldn't be raining all day long ... :)).

Rhimo: Where's your place? Will you be able to reach - let me say: Bramfeld Dorfplatz or S-Bahn Rübenkamp in reasonable time?

I am still working on paper when I am out. And I still have no clue about what to write.

So it is November 1st and I will come back to you about the location. Marie, how about you? Do you have a special place near home?

Cu

Hallo Ihr,

I live in Rahlstedt (Wandsbek). It would take 30 min. to get to Dorfplatz and 35 to get to Rubenkamp, which I guess is relatively short for Hamburg. Any pre-Nov. plans for this weekend?

P.S. Haukehein, wo in Wandsbek bist Du?

I've only recently moved in the Bramfelder region, so I don't know any place.

I will probably be borrowing the hubby's computer, so I would also need power holes. This weekend I will be writing articles for a newsletter I work on. So nano has to wait. I've already started writing a novel plan for my story though, so I think I feel ready to tackle the 50k.

If we turn out to be around 5 people, I will put up my place for grabs. The living room is spacious enough, loads of plug holes, and would be enough seats for everyone. One 4-seater dinning table plus a 2-seater couch with a coffee table.

But I'm up for anywhere.

:)

I know some places in Bergedorf, but that is much too far for any of us.

Since you both have issues with plug holes I think we should agree on meeting at your home. If there are more people coming we could still look out for another place.

I'll take care for the cookies.

We've got a visitor this weekend and I have to finish two projects (thank God for the unexpected visitor since she is a friend of my daughter's).

Hey everybody!

Here's another Hamburg author crawling from her (plot)hole in the ground. I guess I'll do NaNo again this year though I'm awfully busy (what with having to organize Halloween and Thanksgiving parties/dinners for all my German friends)... it's no use resisting when the plot bunnies bite (and the one I'm planning on taking care of has a vicious bite, let me tell you!).

I'd love to have a meet-up on Nov. 1st, preferably in the late afternoon (I've got tennis at 3pm)... anywhere within walking distance of an S or U-Bahn is OK, though Ruebenkamp sounds perfect- the courts are right around the corner!

I don't care whether we're going to speak German or English (it's just easier to write in English as my keyboard's American)- ich faende es nur schoen, wenn es auch in Hamburg ein NaNo-Treffen gaebe.

Freue mich schon auf November!

Yay, more writers coming out!

My place is not exactly walking distance from a train-station, the closest one is Wandsbeck-Gartenstadt, from which you take one bus (number 8) to a stop 2 mins walk from my flat. Not very difficult.

I don't know the area of Ruebenkamp, can anyone suggest a quiet place where we know we can plug laptops? Drink coffee? And big poofy couches are always a big plus.

Since there are more and more of us I decided to book with Einstein's (Manny: hope this is okay with you).

The table is booked for

10 persons (more or less is fine)
Nov., 1st, 2008
from 15.00 to ...

Please ask for "Schnitzler".

Address: EINSTEIN, Bramfelder Chaussee 361, Hamburg (near bus stop Bramfeld Dorfplatz). I love this kind of place since they first showed up in Kiel years ago :).

@Starlit Writer: You can take the bus 118 from Ruebenkamp to Wandsbek-Gartenstadt and get off at Bramfeld Dorfplatz. Please turn back to the mainstreet, turn to the right and have a look at the numbers :) I do not exactly know if the odd numbers are an "your" side or on the other. I know I have passed this place often enough but my memory is not as good as it used to be (e.g. regarding such issues).

2 Laptops shouldn't be an issue. In case there are more than they can handle we (you :)) will have to take shifts :P

We can easily enough decide to meet there again on November 1st.

***

http://www.nanowrimo.org/de/node/3025392

I am looking forward to meeting you all (think you will get to know my daughter as well :)).

Einstein sounds great.

No problem at all. God, I can't believe I'm acutally getting myself into this writing hell again! Woohoo! Its happening *dance*

ok, done.

From 3h00 sounds great too. I'll probably be there at that time, want to get as much writing done as soon as possible.

See you all soon!

Hallo Marie,

Ok, I'm going to put my B1 German level to practice and pretend I understood everything you should said. I'm guessing your asking if there is a Region Hamburg? Unfortunately, us poor europeans only get general regions it seems. I'm not the savyiest in the workings of Nanowrimo, so I will not put forward a reason for lack of city specific regions in Germany.

What kind of novel are you writing?

If it isn't too far for you, it would be great if you came to the first write-in (which is unofficial really) and any thereafter! The information on date/time/place is found in this thread, in an earlier post.

In the hope that you understand english,
Marie

p.s. if you didn't understand this message, sorry. My written german sucks.

Sigrid,

Leider kein Hamburg.

Is there even a need for an English version? :P
