A welcome to NaNo from me too to all old and new HPFF-ers!

I can't wait to start but then I'm also afraid that I won't have the time to write as much as I want to. I have good plans though of trying to write about as much of my university stuff each day as I write of my NaNo. If my plans work out I would be successfull in both, but then I need to be hard on myself and not let me slack. Well let's see...

And let's have a lot of fun of course! :)

Hi, everyone! Nice to see some people I haven't heard from in awhile *cough silver cough*

Shhhhh.... *has a big big secret*

Because all of you wondrous folks have come over here you get to be the first (minus Jay, of course) to hear the news. HPFF will be hosting the biggest, most amazing, NaNo related contest ever. The prize is going to be super super awesome. Really. You will not want to miss out on this.

Now you are sworn to secrecy for at least a few more days while we get ready to announce the details but I'm telling you....I wish I could participate in this one :D

To give you an idea of how big it is - TDA, FicCentral, HPFF, and the podcasters are all involved. And it's not just a grand prize but a prize package.

*is silly with excitement*

Jessi!!!! *huggles*

Welcome, folks. How is the planning coming for everyone? I haven't had much planning time (stupid server!) and probably won't (stupid server!) but am determined to try and reach a higher word count this year. I barely made 50,000 last so it's probably crazy to try and go higher but eh...challenge is good for you, right? :D

HPFFers! *glomps* This is my first year attempting NaNo, and I'm eagerly awaiting November first so I can get started writing, yet ridiculously afraid of 2,000 words a day *hides* Good to see so many people out here, though! *waves giant pinter finger 'we're #1'*

I knew there was a reason I was dreading November. I just can't seem to stop myself from doing this. This'll be my year though and then I'll never have to do it ever again. Break 50,000 by December 1st and I'm free.

My people! It's so awesome to see other HPFF-ers (though I should have expected it). This is my first NaNo and I'm so nervous because it's been ages since I tried my hand at original fiction, all I've been writing for nearly a year is fanfic. I'm dying for Nov. 1st to get here so I can start writing. I just hope I don't die from excitement between now and then.

Drecklin - don't worry about your user ID. Now that you've posted here people can buddy you right from the thread :)

I'm so happy to see so many newbies!! You are going to have so much fun. It's like attending a 30 day party....the fun, the madness, the exhaustion, the second winds (which doesn't sound particularly right in this context or is it just me?) and then the celebration at the end. We also get to know each other a lot better over here since it's smaller than HPFF. And when the lounge gets rockin' you better watch out!

So- my mini bio.

I think I know everybody here (even if I haven't talked to you personally which sometimes is a good thing considering it might mean you are in trouble over at HPFF!) but I'm Linda, also known as timeturner. I answer to either so don't be shy :)

I've been at HPFF for many years now and am currently a site manager. Wasn't always this way...way back when I was posting my first story (which I later deleted to save all of your eyes because it was horrible), trying to navigate the forums, begging for reviews and harassing Jay (that hasn't changed a bit). So don't think if you are new to NaNo or HPFF that I don't remember those days....they are painful and I don't like thinking about them but I do not forget :P

And, because a silly person asked me this last year - no, I am not one of those people who talks to you over here and then will ignore you over at HPFF. I may not respond as quickly because I'm always busy over at HPFF but I won't ignore you.

I'm actually a bit offended that person asked me that.... not that I hold a grudge for 365 days or anything. :D

Okay, so I guess I'll write a mini bio of myself. I'm Leslie, known as onestop_hpfan18 over at HPFF, and am 19-years-old (my birthday's on November 13th and I'll be 20). I'm in my second year in college and majoring in law to become a prosecutor so that I can make sure all those criminals stay behind bars where they belong =P But I guess I'd like to end up as a defense attorney, I'm just not very open-minded as to who I'll defend. I'd rather defend someone who's actually innocent than defend someone that's guilty, like say someone who kidnapped a kid, I just couldn't do that.

I've been writing as long as I could remember... back in elementary school, I believe in 3rd grade if I'm not mistaken. I actually remember getting in trouble by my 3rd grade math teacher for writing in class when I was supposed to be taking notes on long divination, which I never liked as I despise math (though algebra isn't too bad since equations are easy to solve). Which I'm so glad that I'll be through with math after this semester as statistics is my last math class I have to take.

Anyway, I've already started planning the original story that I'm going to write next month. It's a fantasy titled 'Creatures of the Night'. I guess it'd be considered more along the lines of children fantasy since it's about a young boy who enters another world in which all the monsters in nightmares, fairies, and other such creatures are real through the closet in the basement cellar of his house. But I plan to have him being able to come and go into the world as he pleases, each time he enters an adventure taking place (in fact my brain is seriously thinking up adventures as I type), and there will be a bully at his school that never leaves him alone and I'm thinking that somehow I'm going to have the bully follow him into the other world, I just haven't planned out how yet. But, yeah, that's all I've planned so far and I still need to plan more character outlines as I only have a couple done so far.

I'm looking forward to getting know all of you!

Timezones are so unfair! All of you are posting when I'm asleep. Can't a couple of you just move over to Europe so I wouldn't feel so lonely during the day. Here I'm eating my breakfast (yeah I know, maybe not a very good habit to eat breakfast at the computer, and yes my keyboard has had its share of tea every now and then), when a lot of you probably just went to sleep.

Anyway, I thought I'd say something about me too. I'm Annina and I'm AndrinaBlack on HPFF, which might not have been that difficult to guess. I'm studying geography at university and am doing my masters thesis at the moment. And just simply strange as I am sometimes I started to study Nordic literature at the same university, but this is not a minor or anything but a start of another university degree.

I'm in the process of planning my NaNo right now. I'm doing original fiction this time and I seem to have most problems with deciding on a language. I had about decided to write in Swedish, but then I always find myself writing stuff in my plans in English and yesterday I started to write a couple of times in Finnish. So we'll see, but it's definitely not going to be Finnish. I'm not comfortable writing fiction in Finnish (it feels so stiff somehow) and you get a lot less words in Finnish as what are prepositions are endings in Finnish. Lol I'm rambling. sorry

So my novel is going to be about a girl who goes interrailing or something similar with her best friend. But it will also be about her hopes and plans and fears about the future, as I'm probably going to have her just having graduated from high school. And I want to add a kind of daydream sequenses too. So I'm not sure even of what genre it's going to be. Maybe young adult or chick lit or even lit fic with possibly a little touch of fantasy and then some kind of travel writing.

Last year I only got to something over 7000 words I think, but this year I want to write more. Maybe it's a good sign that I have already posted more on these forums than last year when I had only about three forum posts here.

And just an observation. I've noticed how many groups everyone could really belong in here and I've already posted in some of mine. There are of course these writing groups in which we are now, then we have age groups and regional groups and then there are the genre lounges in which I could probably have more than one. Have you all posted in other groups you belong to and do you feel at home more in one than in some others of them. I definitely feel most at home here now. I feel a bit shy in the other places where I haven't really gotten to know anyone or much of the discussions either.

Wow! That was a long post...

Wow, there are a lot of HPFFers here, I never expected there to be so many.

Considering everyone else is, I suppose I have to subject you all to a little about me. I'm Weasley twins rock over at HPFF, but that is a stupid name, so please call me Emma or Faded, or occasionally I get the name WTR, whatever works for you I guess. I'm also at college, doing some really horrible subjects *cough* chemistry *end cough* in order to fulfil the impossible want of becoming a veterinary surgeon. I don't study anything remotely English related any more and haven't written much in ages, so I'm a little rusty at the moment.

And would people please poke me relatively frequently with this in whatever way possible? I realise that it is highly unlikely that I will reach the 50000 mark, but I don't want to give up. And the urge will be pretty strong at times, particularly when the homework starts to pile up. So please poke me, I don't bite. Well, not very often anyway.

I have had this novel in my head for nearly a year now, and as a result of that I have most of the research almost done and a good idea where the plot is going to go. But perfectionism, historical accuracy and dates will probably pull back the advantage I have at the moment at some stage. It's basically about the Dark Lady of Shakespeare's sonnets and what her life was like in the middle of London etc... etc.... Anyone interested can read a little more on my author page.

Hi everyone *waving like a loon*

This is my first year at NaNo so not really sure what to expect and I'm probably completely crazy signing up since I'm in the midst of my first year at university studying Economics (and yes, it is as boring as it sounds and no, I can't give you banking advice ;D) And I suppose I should follow suit like everyone else and introduce myself properly. My name is Tory and I'm 18 years old. I'm also gingercatlady over at HPFF (I know, my imagination knows no bounds), though I'm crazygingercatlady at the forums, don't ask, I had issues when signing up and managed to spell my email wrong even when it said clearly to check it.

And now I'm rambling, which I things tells you all you need to know about my personaility- I ramble uncontrollabley constantly and never about anything important. I seem to spend most of my life procrasstinating which doesn't bode well for attempting to write 50,000 words in a month. Also I'm terrible at spelling so apologies in advance for any terrible mistakes.

And I think that's me, lots of pointless rambling later. Oh, I forgot to say about my plot idea (typical). It's sort of a fantasy story thingy, not quite sure where exactly its at. It contains a lot of humour, a lot of people running around with swords, some magic appearing at random and several gingers, which is a must in all my writing.

*waves to all* This is going to be our best showing yet it seems :)

Andrina - I hang out in my regional thread and here but pretty much ignore all the others. I drop by them but don't really participate. I really like the regional sections though because then you find people around you that are always on your time zone and often just down the street. Even if I don't meet up with them in real life (last year I did attend the kickoff party and probably will this year) it's fun to know there are so many writers nearby.

Since I didn't tell about my story - it's sort of a vampire story although they aren't vampires like bite you in the neck vampires. They are turned by a different method. It takes place on a plantation in 1877 outside of New Orleans. I'm going to add some historical elements to it where yellow fever (which had a massive outbreak in New Orleans a few years after the start of the novel) actually affects vampires rather than them being immune to everything. It's told from the perspective of a human 17 year old orphan who lives at the plantation and wants to be a vampire. Gone with the Wind meets Twilight meets the Covenant :D

Hey guys, I just found this group. I guess I'll introduce myself. My name is Kendra and I am twenty-one years old. I am in my third year of college and I am loving it. I am an elementary education major and a minor in Creative Writing so I have my plate quite full with classes. I am thediarywithin on HPFF and mostly write a lot of song fics but working on a long novel with a friend who is my beta. Oh I am the ML for Kansas:Emporia for the second year..and I adore being an ML it's a lot of fun. Busy but a lot of fun.

This year I am doing two novels..yeah you heard right...two novels. Kill me now...um my first one is called "The Right Kind of Wrong." It's about a frat guy who adores to be a player and he meets a girl that he tries to date...and well...she doesn't date him. But slowly they become really good friends and get in a major car accident which leaves her knocking on death's door and he realizes how much she really means to her.

The other one is a fantasy of sorts. It's about six kids that were left in a van on a highway. But it's them in their teen years and adult years trying to make since of who they are because odd things have been happening to them...like growing wings...or waking up to find yourself up in the air in your bedroom. So it's about them...

That sounds interesting and creative. I love fantasy stories, they're so much fun.

That sounds sort of like 'Fever 1793' by Laurie Halse Anderson. Well, minus the vampires...and in Philadelphia instead of New Orleans... Okay, so not that much similar. Sounds interesting, though!

I'm still undecided about what plot I'll do. There's been this one Marauders fan fic plot that's been floating around in my head for months now, and NaNo seems like a great opportunity to finally get it written. Plus, I have a whole bunch of scenes planned out, which would help when I inevitably get writer's block.

But I sort of want to do an original story, and I've just remembered this idea I jotted down when I was half-asleep, though I'm not sure if I'll be able to think of a real plot for it. Um, the idea was something along the lines of that Death came to take someone's life, but ended up falling in love with the deceased's loved one, and eventually, of course, will have to kill his love, have a terrible choice to make, etc. But other than that I'm not sure what to do, so, um, I'm hoping for the best, meaning some sort of inspiration!

Oh, I sort of forgot to introduce myself, didn't I? Well, I'm Firenze Fan at HPFF, but you can call me Maia. I'm fourteen years old, and it's going to be a challenge to juggle school and novel-writing. Plus, I've recently become addicted to PW, meaning that I'm trying to keep up with my charrie there, too. So all around busyness... But wow, Kendra, two novels in one month, that's quite impressive!

Heya Everyone!

I'm so excited for this, lovely first timer here :) Guess I'll introduce myself. I'm Caiti, Cappie on the forums and Blue Flame on the actual site. I'm 15 (16 as of tomorrow afternoon, actually XD), a Junior in high school and I am super excited to be part of it this year. I've been neglecting my fan fics for a while now, so i hope this'll get me into the 'spirit' of writing again =D Good luck to everyone, I can't wait for November 1st!

And since others seem to be telling about their stories, I'm planning a fiction novel based way in the future. I focused it on the concept that the human mind has developed far more then anyone could have ever imagined it would. Meaning that what would have been known as 'supernatural' powers now are considered normal for the newest gereration. There's three groups of older kids that were the first to develope these gifts of sorts and each leads a group teaching the younger kids about, kind of mentor-student relationship. And that's what I have for now XD How does that sound? Anyone happen to have any input on it? All feedback is appreciated, especially as this is my first doing this!

Ha, I love this place :) Well since everyone is doing awesome mini-bios I'm going to join in!!

My Mini-Bio:
My name is Sarah, aka Drecklin (EVERYWHERE), I'm 13 a freshman in highschool and an avid internet skulker. I'm secretly obssessed with TDA and HPFF and CY and now here :P I am pretty crazy most of the time, I like to be loud but lately I haven't been as loud :/ I have been writing for only a short period of time, but I am seriously considering a job in writing long term. Umm.... Well nothing else really. I guess I could tell you all about my plot, which definitely needs work :P

Its about Elizabeth I and her whole celibacy thing. Lol could I be any more vague? Well she always got exiled to her palace in Hatfield and well there was a servant there who she fell in love with but would not let herself because of her fathers escapades(did I even use that word right?) with ladies. They learn from each other yaddah yaddah yaddah, then one time she goes back and hes not there. Turns out he got moved to the Royal palace in London or wherever and this is when Mary was queen, Mary despite her husband tries to get him and yaddah yaddah yaddah. In the end... well dont want to give too much away have to surprise you all :P

So yeah, I still have a lot to go xD
