Hey! I'm here in Anderson, and I feel a bit lonely here in Anderson! Anyone want to attend the kickoff party? I'm trying to get something organized and have a write-in starting at midnight.

It'll be nice to meet you!

Hey, I'm in Anderson too. Not sure I'll be able to manage a kick off at midnight [four kids who want to watch horror movies], but I'd love to set up a schedule to meet and write at the library or one of the coffee shops...

Thoughts?

It would be awesome to meet during November! Last year I had the moral support of my friends, but I didn't know anyone who was actually doing NaNo along with me. My home region is really active, but that's 5-6 hours away and I'm only there for Thanksgiving....

So, it would be really good to meet people here in Anderson who are NaNo-ing!

I would love to have some write-ins at APL. In fact, I do the majority of my writing there anyway, so that'd be the best place because it's walking distance from my house. My mom thinks it's a good idea to meet at Panera. Starbucks is a BIT too small for my taste, but we could try!

APL sounds good, but I suspect it may be too quiet for me ;) I need a bit of noise to find my muse. Panera would work :) I've never been there...

When is a good time for a first meeting?

I don't think Panera would be a bad idea. I kind of like it there.

Starbucks IS too small. I loved going to Brandon's last year, but now they're closed, and I don't know of any other coffee shops in town. :(

As for meetings, I would typically say weekends are good, but this weekend for me is packed and the next is fall break, so I won't even be in town then. If I had to choose a weekday, it would have to be Tuesday evening (6-ish and onward).

Weekends are good for me [except these next two, but it's not November yet, so that's okay]. Tuesdays are difficult because I work until 5:30 at IUPUI. I can still do it, I just wouldn't be there until after 7. I don't know if that's too late. I believe our thread-starter is 14... The best weeknight for me would be Friday.

Hopefully we'll find some other folks in Anderson.

Yeah, my Friday (and Thursday, for that matter) evenings are open, too. Except next week I will be gone Thurs-Sun. Um, maybe we can still figure out something for the last week of October?

There were more Anderson people than this participating last year, weren't there?

Yes there were...it's just that some of them don't use the forums or aren't signed up yet.

I think a Friday would be best for me, considering I have school every day, since I AM fourteen...lol!

This might really be a stretch, but...... we couldn't meet some time on Halloween, could we? :/

i've got four kids who'll want to trick or treat and then watch movies, so Halloween probably won't work. Sadly, we have a wedding scheduled for November 1, too.

I think I can find time on November 2 [Sunday].

Thoughts?

Anytime would work, although afternoon would be better [with those monsters having school the next day]. My Sundays are totally free.

How does 3pm sound?

That way, we should miss any post-Church lunchers and much of Anderson should be settled in for a football game. We can also get in a good few hours before anyone needs dinner.

Is Panera our choice?

That'd be great. Let's put it on the Elsewhere calendar so more people can come.

I have a meeting at 6:30 that night at Madison Park Church of God, so I won't be able to stay TOO long.

I sent a note to the community liasson who put the West Laf events on the calendar, but I'm not sure that's the best person to work with... The note on our region board says "send info to me and I'll add it to the calendar", but there is no indication of who "me" is :) I tried.

If you're looking for me at Panera, I'll be the little goth girl in a black hoodie, black fingerless gloves, and long black skirt, Bettie bangs, geek glasses. I may or may not have one or two boys with me [ages 10 & 12].

If anyone needs a ride, let me know.

What times and days are best for you? We'll want to schedule another one.

Oh! And other Anderson people... does EVERY Sunday at 3 work? I may be hitting Starbucks on Tuesdays and Fridays [evenings] as well. We'll see.

Totally! I'd love to do it on Sunday afternoons and Friday nights!

Also, could we do a small TGIO party?

What is a TGIO party?

Let's talk more on Sunday.

TGIO = Thank God It's Over.

One more question -- is this supposed to be a write-in, or just a meet and greet?

i had intended a write-in, but since this is our first meeting, some part of the 3-6 will probably have to be meet and greet.

honestly, i wasn't home all day yesterday and need to get a good start on writing :)

I'm amazed at how much Jordan, Alek, and I got done yesterday - oh the wonders of caffeine!!

So, do we want to play for every Sunday at Panera from 3-6? We'll be out of town that final weekend [T'giving in Pennsylvania], but someone might still be around.

Also, Fridays at Starbucks? I'd probably be up for 4:30/5-8p, but I can't stay past that.

Let me know what we want "official" and I'll get it added to the calendar.

And now, I'm behind in writing again...

so I may gather up the boys and head somewhere to write. Not sure how many people would be camped out at Starbucks or Panera, so depending on crowds we may go somewhere else... If anyone is interested PM me and I'll check in from home.

I would do Panera Bread, AND starbucks, but my mom doesn't let me go ANYWHERE without my two sisters, and them? They're not about to try and get my mom to drive us to a restaurant to meet random people from online...
No Offense, to everyone here, you guys are probably good people and all....but my mom/sisters couldn't care less...
The library works fine on pretty much every single day, of every single week, The Great Dragon would know this, as I see him there all the time.

hours would likely be from 2:30Pm or 3:15pm -- 6:45pm or sometimes 7:00pm if I'm lucky

That makes sense. My mom wouldn't have been cool with that either :) I work in Indianapolis until 3:30 most days and don't get home until 4:30 or 5:00. I work late on Tuesdays and that's the one free night the kids have. Still, we don't get somewhere to start writing until 6ish at the earliest.

I worry the library would be too quiet for me to do anything productive, so I'll probably stick with the coffee houses. I know Dragon was mentionning the library, so he might be game for that.
