The first meeting of the college WriMos will be held at 8 PM, October 8, in the area above the Grille in the Joe Rosenfield Center. Students can join the Facebook group. This meeting is meant for student participants (since we're trying to get a budget request together) but further events will probably include Grinnell at large.
I'm sure our lovely ML will have more to say on the subject of Grinnell NaNoWriMo.
Less than a month until November!

So how did the meeting go? Did you get a lot of people?
What kind of things would you be using a budget for?
My friend and I are looking forward to meet y'all for any general Grinnell meetings.

The meeting was a great success, we had 15 people there and another 3 who wanted to be put on the mailing list. The budget is to pay for snacks and prizes - hopefully the student government will see fit to pay for some of that.
Looking forward to November--

Here's a summary of the first meeting, for those who couldn't make it. (Nora, if I missed anything, please feel free to point it out!)
Bi-weekly write-ins will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11pm-midnight, as well as Saturday afternoons (probably around 1:00 - 3:00). These dates and locations are flexible and subject to change, so it'll be important for everybody to be on the [nano] email list so they can get updates. Write-ins will feature food and drink of the snacky, energy-providing persuasion, as well as a special Word War corner with timers and small prizes for WW winners!
Pretty much everybody agreed to a classic, October 31st Kick-Off Party from about 11:30pm -- 2:30am (ooh, maybe we'll do a bakery run!) so we could start off our novels together.
Thanksgiving weekend, also known as God's Gift to NaNovelists, is still in the works. Most likely, there will be a Marathon Write-In going on pretty much all day in Burling Library. We'll keep y'all posted.
Nora and I are still trying to think of a good location for the Kick-Off Party, as well as write-ins, so if any of you know of fun, cozy, novelist-esque places on campus let us know!
Also, keep spreading the NaNo word! Registration will be open all the way through October, so it's not too late to wrangle your friends into joining our exuberant, word-brandishing brigade! Have them shoot an email to [nano] so I can get them on the email list.
