Weekly meet-ups

Since we had a really great turn out last weekend, I figure about the same time would be great. So our weekly meetings will be:

Sundays at 4:00 PM near the aquarium in the HUB Center.

I will be there for two hours, and if you want to drop by, then go ahead and feel free to do so. Last time we wrote the entire time, breaking if someone needed help with their story. We have done word wars in the past, which have been helpful to some people.

I will be in a highlighter yellow shirt, so it'll be rather hard to miss me. Hope to see you there!

Places to kick-off

All right, so I'm not a total idiot. I just go the email that we have a forum two days ago. I feared I wasn't crawling the forums deeply enough and had missed our poor Centre County. But all is well.

So, where should we kick off? I'm completely open to suggestions. I would prefer somewhere close to downtown State College (read: within walking distance) for those of us who don't have cars. I don't think we're going to try Websters again because of the miscommunication we had the last time. However, future write-ins may take place there as I love that store to death.

I was thinking Redifer Commons (south halls). They have that nice little cafe thing (overpriced, but there is coffee!) and it's not as crowded as the HUB, so it won't be as loud, and it's fairly open. Remember, this will be Halloween night, and it is a Friday. Lots of people out and about going to parties and what not.

Writing next weekend

Just a heads up, next weekend I will plan on writing at a cafe in the afternoon on Saturday or Sunday, probably at Saint's Cafe, Websters or Starbucks on Garner. I will make more concrete plans closer to that time. Anybody interested please join up, and if one time or place works better for you than the others, let me know. I hope to meet some of my fellow novelists!

I just saw the email from our wonderful ML and I was just wondering what people are going to do.

Me, I have an extra power strip that I can bring and a bag of unopened candy corn. I would promise more candy, but I'm not sure if I can prevent myself from eating it! Also, I'll be bringing my trusty laptop, Rowena.

What is your favorite place to go and write? When I was a student at Penn State, I liked the Daily Grind coffee shop. I don't think that's there anymore, though. So, where do you go? Right now, home is it for me, but I'd like to sneak out for an hour or two on the weekends in November.

There's this awesome community called 'overheard in new york' and basically people go posting snippets of conversation that they've overheard while walking around in New York. Taken out of context, this is a really awesome way to get stimulated if you've hit a block. I offer a few gems I've heard personally:

'WHOA! Did you see that thing with the tail!? It was like the Chupacabra!' (Note: it was actually a chipmunk)
