Hello all! My name is Rachel. Welcome to NaNoWriMo 2008!
I don't know about you guys, but I'm ridiculously excited and nervous that it's already October. (I was going to say the middle of October, but I guess we're not quite there, yet. Soon, though. Too soon? Not soon enough? Both, maybe!)
Anyway, I am going to be your awesomely dorky Municipal Liason for this year. Those of you who are new, a Municipal Liason (ML), is the crazy person who coaches and cheerleads and coordinates events for the region they are heading. I've got some (hopefully) fun plans for this year, that we'll talk about in a few. As of right now, we're lucky enough to have the illustrious armidillosoufle (Stephanie) along for the ride as Co-ML. Stephanie has been the ML of this region for the last three years, but has relinquished the reins this year, since she's going to be leaving us soon for the wonderful world of Chi-Town. However, if you have questions and can't find me, she's willing to share her plethora of NaNo wisdom with the rest of us mere mortals, free of charge! Whee!
My purpose is to plan all sorts of meetings for the month: the Kick Off Party, Write Ins, and the Wrap Party, at least. I'll also answer your questions and listen to your problems, whether they be personal, writing, or NaNo related. Not that I'll be able to solve all (any) of them, but I'll sure listen! Know that you've got a definite ally in me, as well. I want you to succeed, and will happily cheer you on and listen to you plot and complain and whine and rejoice and... Well, you get the point.
Ok, I could babble on for ages, but I'm going to try to keep this at least somewhat concise. Our region, as you may have already realized, is rather large. Because of this, I know some of you may be wondering how I plan on incorporating all the different areas into our gatherings. Well, I'll be honest with you: I'm not going to be able to make everybody happy. However, I am going to do my darndest to have meetings someplace that enables as many of you to come as possible. To that effect, for each event, I'll be posting polls on your location, and whether or not you intend to go. Wherever there are the most people wanting to attend, that's where I'm planning to hold the meeting. If that plan doesn't work out, for whatever reason, we'll come up with a new one! I'm flexible, so I'm sure we can make something work.

As November draws near(er), I'll be setting up chat rooms for plot discussions and OMG IT'S ALMOST HERE freakouts. Once it's here, the rooms will be used for Word Wars and OMG MY CHARACTERS ARE STOOPID freakouts. I'll let you know when and where to find those once I've got them ready.
So, um, that was really long. Sorry!!! If you made it all the way through, I'm impressed. If you didn't, I don't blame you. I promise, the majority of my missives won't be this bad. :P
