It's the official one month countdown! I'm curious what everyone here is doing to prepare, and what systems you may have for getting through this daunting (and a little masochistic) task. So share! Lists, preparations, what your goals are for each day...

Personally, I'm intending to lock myself in the home office for 30 days with a carton of Djarum Black clove cigarettes, my USB coffee maker (yes, I actually own one of those things), and my cat. She literally climbs the walls in here (no joke, I turned around once and she was sliding down the paneling!) and is always good for a stress relieving laugh.

I have music I set up for writing sessions as well. Depending on the mood at the time, I have at least seven different playlists to help get the creative juices flowing-- or at least keep me from writing "rhubarb" over and over again to break the block. :-) My music ranges from Metallica to Ace of Base to Vivaldi to Eminem. I also have a killer Broadway playlist with music from my two favorite shows, Wicked and Avenue Q. I play "Loud As The Hell You Want" for my neighbors when they complain that we're too loud.... It seems to calm them down. Or scare them. I'm not quite sure which.

I'm a part of a site called Helium, where I can receive feedback and reviews on my writings, as well as write articles for publications that actually pay out. (Scary, isn't it? A website that actually PAYS.) I use them as my block destroyer a lot, too. When I'm writing an emotional death scene that's just coming out flat, it helps to go change gears and write a "Rules" article for extramarital affairs. :-)

Well, that's about it for my stuff. Since I don't have a laptop yet (I've begged Santa this year, maybe he'll get the notices I tacked onto the head of that poor reindeer I hit last Thursday), I'll be doing all my writing at my desktop PC. Which means, by November 26th, I'll be more than a little crazy---er, cranky. ;-)

Wow, one month...kinda scary to think about for us newbies. X3;

Umm, I don't have many goals, other than to complete the NaNoWriMo. :D;; I'm not overly worried about the word count itself, I'm more worried about completing a novel. Oh well!

Personally, I'm not doing much to prepare, either. XD; I've been typing away furiously for my other stories so I have a chapter buffer large enough to last November, but I don't have much else. :< I have my new kitten, Kuzu, who is just a boundless ball of energy (especially at three in the morning!) so I think I'll look to him whenever I need a boost. >w<

I'm also pretty music-driven. :D;; I don't have any playlists set up--I should go do that; it's a good idea!--but I do have a wide range that'll hopefully help.

Soooo yeah. I don't have a laptop, I'm a newbie who is easily distracted, and I have no idea what else I'm doing. XD; Here's to a fun November~
