FINAL NOTICE: Due to the EXTREMELY limited space, we wil NOT have room for drop-in writers on Monday. If you want to attend RSVP by SUNDAY NIGHT, and we'll see you there! And do not forget your $10 to get in the door!
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 2: WE HAVE INCREASED THE RSVP LIMIT! We can now fit 42 people in here with tables and chairs for all! EVeryone will have to be cosy and share tables, though, no lone writers allowed. And be aware that if you want a soft seat, bring a cushion...we have 27 that can be spared here, but I'm reserving those for older writers and those of us staying all day. I have also added a list for RSVP's at the end of this post that I will update with each new attendee or cancellation, so check it out and make sure you're on there!
Where: Seven Cups teahouse
1882 S Pearl St
Denver, CO, 80210
(Helpful direction notes: We're located in the Old South Pearl Business District, so if you know where Stella's and Sushi Den and those places are, we're a few blocks south of there. Or if you take public transpo, get to the Louisiana Pearl lightrail station and head south on Pearl.Basically, get to where Evans meets Jewell,.
When: Monday November 24th from 10am-10pm
(Why Monday? Because the shop is closed that day, so we get it all to ourselves. Why 10 to 10? Because I'm doing all the opening and closing stuff and so I get to choose >P )
Details: Please bring $10 per person to help pay for the electricity, heat, and renting costs for the day (since we normally use no heat or electricity at all on Mondays while we're closed and because Greg wants to be able to pretend to pay me for running the place for 12 hours) and be prepared to buy some tea and/or snacks while you're here. Also consider bringing a(n optional) donation for the Office of Letter and Light, please!
Seven Cups does have free WiFi and we have tables and chairs for about 30 people, so bring whatever writing materials you need to get your stuff done!
Also bring a sweater or jacket just in case; we'll have the heat cranked but if we get hit with a Thanksgiving snowstorm no one wants to freeze ^_^.
RSVP either in this thread or to me via PM if you please, and hope to see you guys there!

How glad am I that I'm taking off the entire week of Thanksgiving this year? :D The regional write-in sounds great--keep us posted!

Oh Shaweet!! I might work that Monday morning (I'm trying desperately to get it off...since my boss wants me to work Wednesday-Monday the days after @.@) But if its gonna be open for twelve hours then I'm sure I could squeeze in some time. And of course, unless your boss has some problem with it, I'd like to help you clean up or something, since I'm sure that its not too easy to do alone... :D Keep me posted!

Whoa, your boss is awesome, as are you for cooking this up! It sounds fantastic. I'll check and see if I can get the whole day off, but I can definitely be there for at least part of it. (I suppose Sunday is out?)
I'm happy to chip in money or other assistance, just let me know!

DaNoodleBox: Yeah, you should be able to make it by. I think we'll be doing it from 10-10, so it shouldn't be too hard. Hooray for even short write-in marathons! And aww, that's sweet of you to offer. I may take you up on that and have you Swiffer-mop the floor or wipe down the tables while I attack the dishes and stuff, if Greg is cool with that (I'll have to do the dishes alone because, yeah, delicate delicate tea ware that has to be washed very specially...but everything else is nice and easy!)
Spleen: Heh, actually, all I have to do is boil water and measure tea leaves ^_^. Well, and defrost frozen Asian snackie things. But we'll probably end up ordering something for the group since it's by DU and there are like two dozen delivery places nearby! (And yeah, Sunday's probably out, alas, just because we're open from 10-6 that day and Greg wanted us to have the option of all 12 hours without having to worry about other customers coming in and ragging on me and the other server for letting you all in but not them. But, 12 hours, and we get to pick which 12, so hopefully you'll still be able to make it!)

ALL RIGHT GUYS! It's official, we have everything set to host our own Colorado-area version of the Night of Writing Dangerously! Please check the top post for all the pertinent info and feel free to ask any questions you might have about the event ^_^. (And to head off one right now...if you have children that you are bringing along, no, you don't have to pay for them!)

I'll try to make it after work. Wish I could be there for the whole day but that's not happening with all my vacation time already scheduled.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'll be able to make it as I have to work and after work I have rehearsal on Mondays. I may come after work and skip rehearsal, but it depends on if we have any gigs coming up. I'll know more here in a couple of weeks.

Bah, have to take time off of at least one job to be there. But I will be there, only probably only for the latter half, depending on what's going on at my main job that day.

Yay! I'm glad people can make it even if it's only for a little while! (And spleen, you are now my hero because that means I won't be the only one sitting in for the duration ^_^. Thank god teahouses have plenty of caffeine in ready supply!)

I want to come, but I may have to work that day. If at all possible, I'm going to try to get the week off, or that day, or at the very least, work a morning shift. Unless I get really lucky and they decide to close the store because no one is going to come in. Hey, I might just call in to work! I probably won't know what's going on for a while yet, though.

Hi Krystal! Hope you can make it. The tea shop is about 6 blocks south of the Louisiana & Pearl light rail station, so if you are at all convenient to the light rail, that might be a gas-saving option.

well, I've always wanted to do a write in, yet never have, so I told myself that this year I would and this one sounds great. I have that whole week off, and my wife will be out of town, so I should be there for most of the day :)

I plan to come! I already have the full week of Thanksgiving off from work. Driving to the tea shop can just take the place of driving to my day job. I don't know that I'll stay the full 12 hours (may have other things going on that evening), but I'd probably be there from 10 to at least 5. :D

If it's not too late I'd like to come too. I usually don't do anything on that day except write and it would be awesome to share the time with others. I'll need a table because I don't have a laptop. I use paper and pen. If the tables are first come first serve then I'll just plan to be there early. Let me know in this thread or PM.

I haven't decided whether or not I want to lock myself in a hotel room in Vegas or come to this write-in instead. Vegas is full of distractions....so I might end up changing my plans to include this event. Do you guys serve coffee or is it only tea? Anyway, sounds like fun...I'll let you know if I'm coming :)

There are coffee shops nearby, though, and we have no plans yet to bar the doors at any point during the day. ^_^

Oct 24, 2008 - 08 20
Well, kind of nearby...the Chocolate Berry is two doors down and has SOME coffee-related drinks, but not many. There are lots of places in the new South Pearl district, but we're the OLD South Pearl district, so everything's a few blocks away. Not too far, but about three or four blocks.
And actually, the front door will have to be locked since the store is usually closed that day and we don't want other customers coming in. However, I'll have the shades up and will probably be up front the majority of the day anyway, since that's where all the tea stuff is, so all people have to do is knock!

Thank you for organizing this. This is my RSVP. I fortuitously have that day off. So I figure that's a sign. Are there plenty of outlets to plug in laptops? Should I bring an extension cord? --Karawyn

There aren't a ton of outlets (a decent amount, but nothing crazy!), so while I will be bringing my power strips with me, if anyone wants to bring their own or an extensions cord, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea ^_^.

As a absentee DenNaNoer this year, I'm super excited to hear that there will be a big event while I'm home for break!!! That's super cool!! I'll definitely be stopping by for some of the day!
