Hey all,
I'm Marie. I live in Wayne. Let's start brainstorming good places to have write ins. I like the Coffee Bean in Plymouth on Penniman. Also, I'd love to start planning a kick off for 12:01am 11/1/08! I convinced a few friends to do nanowrimo with me (this is my first year and I'm crazy psyched!) But, the friends I convinced are either a) out of state or b) unwilling to give up Halloween parties in the name of nano. Imagine. My plans are to sleep most of the day, trick or treat with my daughter, then get in crazed "count down to November" mode. Anyone with me?
Marie

I am not adverse to holding write ins at the Coffee Bean. Of course the fact that I live within biking distance of this particular venue colors my opinion heavily. The only difficulty I can see would be the need to warn anyone coming to the area for the first time about the massive road closure on Sheldon between the M-14 exit and the downtown Plymouth area. I also liked the Espresso Royal on Plymouth Rd. just west of Nixon, where a couple of write in's were held last year. It may not have been as spacious as some of the more downtown A^2 locations, but parking was plentiful and free.

I'm not sure I could do a kick off party, because I'm pretty sure my friends are planning a big Halloween bash, and the old BFF crew takes precedence over NaNo (sorry guys).

I have kids so holloween night I might have to monitor as teenagers are spending the night here.. I think we should do something in the area around the time of the write in too.

I've tried kick-offs before, and it seems a typical thing for people to have other plans for Holloween night. I think a better time is BEFORE Holloween so we can maximize our writing time starting with November 1st. I like to use the early days to get as many words written as I can before I get jaded.

What do you think of Saturday the 25th?

well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I would love to have some sort of get to know your fellow NaNoers pre-November event on the 25th.

I'd love to have a kick-off but obviously the 25th didn't work for me! :) I was at the NKOTB concert. I've also been a little slow this week on messages, had a death in the family and the night before his funeral, his house burnt down with his wife, three of the kids and five of the grandkids all inside. Everyone got out fine and all is well now (or as well as it CAN be) but it's been a rough, rough week. This coming week will be much better. Had the awesome concert, have a day I get to wear my PJs to work and I'm shooting a commercial. But most of all HALLOWEEN!!!! :) My favorite holiday.

Anyway, any suggestions for another get together? Maybe something around 6ish over coffee or something? I can't do Monday (tomorrow) night because I have the monthly Ann Arbor Adobe User Group meeting that I run and Tuesday I'll be in Detroit for the commercial. So Wed or Thurs?
