All events are listed on the calendar.

Calendar Link: http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=anitra.obrien%40eagles.cui.edu&...

There are some events that are jointly planned with North County. If you are interested in events that are planned by the North County people alone, you are more than welcome to be a member of both regions.

If you want to plan events besides the ones that I have planned, you are more than welcome to. Just send an email to skatepixie@ymail.com and tell me what the event is, the address, the date (or day of the week), the times, and who people should contact.

I left the write-in schedule as is for Thanksgiving week. However, I will be out of town for part of that time due to going to Northern California to see my family. I know I will be gone on the Wednesday for sure. If people still want to have that write-in without me there, that's fine.

Thanks,
Rosie

Rosie, Google Calendar is a brilliant idea--easy to subscribe to and read.

I will not be able to make the kick off due to Halloween requirements--Any chance we could have a "South County Punt" on 11/1 at Gina's for those of us that cannot make the "official" Kick-off? Thanks, David S

If we're going to do something Nov 1, lets do it somewhere else. Like, maybe a fun write in or something. If it's at Gina's, people might not want to go there two days in a row. Maybe the Lee's Sandwiches place you suggested before? I would need to scope it out for outlets, though.

I would love to participate in a Punt party since I can't do the holloween kick off party. How about the Coffee bean and tea leaf in Costa Mesa at the Costa Mesa Courts behind Triangle square? I was just there today and they had a lot of outlets and a nice coffee shop set up.

Hey, I'd go to that. I'm only two miles away from Triangle Square. I'd be able to just ride my bike.

That sounds great. I just need some more detailed directions (because I'm not sure where triangle square is) and then I'll add it to the calendar.

Here is a link to the coffee bean and tea leaf. It's point A on the map, located on Newport Blvd. http://coffeebean.com/location.aspx?UserID=11254063&SessionID=qFtnCbisamT3{4HoThaa

What time do you want to do it?

I'm not going to be able to make the Irvine events, but I was really glad to see the San Juan write-ins! It's very convenient for us south-south county types. So, I'll see some of you at the Starbucks by the Mission!

Write on...

Hi all-
Any other Stay At Home Moms/Dads/People interested in getting together during the day? I'd love to meet other NaNoItes, but I can't go to the write ins late at night. Or with a baby. He'd just drool all over my laptop and then start smacking the keys...because it's fun. So if there are other parents or guardians interested in getting together with the babies some day-let me know!

Samantha,

I can't make it to San Juan today. I have a critique group meeting at 6:30. I was at the MV It's a Grind Write In last Monday night with Silverlock and Irishlullaby. Does anyone want to meet at the Oso Borders next Monday? It's a Grind closes at 8pm.

Hi Nettie and all - I'd love to meet up next Monday night, am game for either It's a Grind or Borders. Both work for me. Though I'm always afraid to be surrounded by books. I'll bring just enough money for a cup of tea... not one. more. cent.

I can do either location, but I'm marathon chick. I'd rather have the option to stay later--much later. I just called the Borders off Oso and they close at 9pm (an hour later than It's A Grind). The Barnes & Noble in Aliso Viejo stays open daily until 11pm.

Any other night owls in our South County NaNo group? Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday?

I'm up for a night owl write-in at Denny's! There is one right off the 5 freeway at Alicia (24445 Alicia Pkwy, Mission Viejo) Thursday the 13th works!

What time?

Samantha and others,

Potential snag... Just called Denny's (and Coco's)--they don't have any plugs near customer seating. =/ So, if you're writing on a laptop, you need a super charged battery. Or be able to switch to an Alpha Smart...

I wonder if they'd be opposed to a power strip and a long orange extension cord leading to their waitress station from our booth... ;-)

Grr... There's a Denny's in San Juan. I could call there, but I won't be able to until Sunday. What about El Torito Grill? At K-Scope?

Also, is anyone going to the Twilight midnight premiere at Aliso?

Who's going to the MV write-in tonight? (I'll bring the powerstrip.)

Samantha, are we still planning for a Thursday nightowl session?

I'll be there again -- earlier, and without my son this time -- so I hope to get a lot more writing done tonight than last time. I should be rolling in at about 5:20...

(P.S. The power strip is a great idea! I was thinking of doing the same thing myself.)

Looking forward to it!

Samantha, Skatepixie, and others,

Any ideas for a host location for a nightowl write-in on Thursday night in South County? We need a place that stays open late (obviously) and it definitely helps if there are electrical outlets available. My laptop battery only lasts about 1-2 hours.

If all else fails, we can do the Denny's on Alicia Pkwy and maybe charm the staff/manager into the extension cord idea... ;-)

It's times like this I wish I owned my own coffee shop...

I'm definitely on for night owl sessions! I'm not sure where just as of yet though. Though the extension cord and power-strip idea is amazing and convenient, having worked in a restaurant type setting I don't think they would be allowed to do that... According to fire safety code. We could always crash a Taco Bell or Del Taco, they are open forever.

Samantha,

I think it's less the problem of "open forever" and more the issue of Del Taco, et al. not having electrical outlets available either. =/ Shall we just say Denny's on Alicia--unless someone comes up with a sure-fire location with night owl AND electrical outlet privileges?

What time? Sounds like skatepixie won't be able to make it until 9:30pm. Sam, what time do you want to meet?

Anyone else up for burning the midnight oil?
