Welcome and welcome back!
I'm your ML, wordsmith/Sherry, and I'll be at the Cape Breton helm again this year. You can reach me any of the following ways:

In the past we've generally held meetups at The Bean Bank on Charlotte Street in Sydney. I'd love to be able to spread the love around some other parts of the Island, so if Sydney's not really do-able for you, sing out and we'll see what we can do.
I definitely think we should have a pre-nano meetup before October is over. If you're interested, let me know and we'll set something up!
I'd also like to have a few write-ins this year--is anyone else with me?
I'll have our Google calendar set up within the next couple of days and post a link here.
So chime in, tell us you're here, introduce yourself if you're new, and tell us what you're going to be writing!
Cheers,
Sherry/wordsmith

Hey Sherry!! It's Kerry here!! I have finally joined NANOWRIMO!!!! So, I am going to write a sequel in November. It's a dark romance, and my working title is "Love In The Darkness" I am totally into having a meeting before October is over, and a write-in sounds like a good idea. Personally, I'm up for anything!! (And if chris goes away I will need to do anything, as it will be a distraction for me,lol)

My name is forcryinoutloud and this is my third year attempting NaNo. My first year I managed about 17K before the muse died and last year was....a total flop. :P But this year I'm motivated and trying something new - some crazy thing called "being organized". *snerk*
From the west side of the island and so excited to see there are other Capers participating in NaNo! *g*
Not quite brave enough to venture into original fic for NaNo so am attempting a crossover between SG1, SGA and NCIS. Science Fiction meets Forensics. *g*

Hi
I live in Ontario now, but I was born in the Ashby area of Sydney. Would you mind if I stop by occasionally?
This is my second year of NaNo. Last year I managed to win. I have no idea what my book will be about this year. Hey, we still have two weeks.
have fun

Hello forcryinoutloud and elder!
I'm happy to meet you both on the forums and of course, elder, you can stop by anytime!
I am trying to be organized but not having much luck so far--juggling too many other projects! I was making notes for a while but I've recently realized that, while they're helpful, they don't really address any little details like PLOT! :)

I'm not really the type of author that sits down and plots out her stories. I tend to start writing and just go until I stop, going wherever the writing takes me. And usually that works. I have over 200 stories of varying lengths, almost a total of 400,000 words to prove it so I tried that with my first attempt at NaNo and while I got a little over 17 thousand words, it just didn't work for me with such a large project.
A friend sent me a link to a livejournal post about making an outline for a story and I've found it immensely helpful. I've already got almost 3000 words written of just my outline, so I thought I'd share the link for those that haven't seen it already and for those not on livejournal.

This definitely won't work for everyone but I think it's a fantastic help to motivate me into getting, at the very least, all the stray ideas I have running through my head for this story out and into a word file. God knows if I'll manage the 50,000 words but I actually think, regardless of word count in the end, that I really WILL finish this year's story which, for me, would be a pretty big accomplishment since I've managed to come up with an idea for a story that involves three different shows, dozens of characters and three different sets of canon. *grins*

Hi all you Cape Bretoners! I'm back for my seventh year...wow...! See how addictive it is? Welcome to any newcomers (Hi Kerry! It's great to see you here!) and those who've been around but are new to this forum. It's nice to have a Place to Be where people recognize your name in all these many forums.
Hope to see some of you at our Cape Breton get-togethers!

Hi,
Donna, I found the Cape Bretoners. Are you here, too ? The countdown is on. to Nov 1.
I know I won't get to Sydney but maybe some of us on the south west side could meet in Port Hawkesbury.
Or at my house, for a write-in.
This is the third NaNoWriMo for me. In 1st one I did my 50,000 on a romance. Never did get around to edit ing it. Last year, didn't get as many words - this year, I plan to cross the finish line.
Sherry, thanks for being there to apply some motivating effects.

Hey hey fellow Capers! I'm Celebelai, from Ashby in Sydney, and this is awesome:) It's my second year doing NaNo, and I think I'm even more terrified than last year, mainly because 2 completely different stories are competing for space in my brain at the moment. I doubt I'll have time to finish, I don't even know if i'll be on the island for most of November, but I'm gonna try:P
At the moment some random original fic about with punk music, greek mythology, and the gaia theory is bouncng around in my brain, along with this HP/RPS crossover thing. My brain will probably explode before this is over, but at least I'll have something written...

How's it going Capers? I see carebear/Kerry has almost half of her 50,000 already bashed out! Talk about motivated! Well done, girl!
I missed the first day of writing but hopefully have made up for that Sunday night and yesterday. I'm doing a YA fantasy and so far I'm really having fun with it. We'll see.................
Hopefully, the site will start being easier to get on. It's been a drag so far.

All hail, Cape Breton writers. This is my second year doing NaNoWriMo, and I'm hoping for a second consecutive win. I started this year's story in the departure lounge of the Calgary airport, and will post a word count as soon as the bits of my brain that shriveled up and died in the dry Alberta air come back to life.
That's all I have time to write now, because I have to go start catching up. Cheers.

Hey, Steph, good to see you! I know you can be prolific and dedicated when you set your mind to it, so I have no doubt that you will catch up promptly. :)
How's everyone else doing? I'm a little slow getting started, mainly because I have no idea where this story is going or how it is getting there. But I'm not behind!
Cheers,
Sherry

Woohoo, Kerry, you are on FIRE!
And Nanc, nice job of catching up. Wow!
I am keeping my head above water and very happy to be doing so. :) And things are starting to get interesting (finally!).
Keep it up, everyone! You are all doing g-r-e-a-t!

Hey all,
This is Krista, checking in--late, as usual. I'm off to a slow start this year, thanks to report card marks being due this week, but I'm hoping to get caught up in the next few days. I'm glad to see that people are doing so well so far! Sherry, are there more meet-ups coming up?
Good luck everyone!
Cheers,
Krista

Hey, Krista, I know you will catch up! Don't stress about being a bit behind at the start. :)
Meet-ups, yes! I need to schedule another one. I will do that very soon!
