Hello out there JMU! We are still looking for a POC for Harrisonburg. It would be great if a JMU student could take the reigns. Introduce yourselves here and maybe a couple of you can share the duties or organizing meet-ups and write-ins. We want JMU on our calendar of events!

I'm at JMU!
I'd love to help as much as I can, but unfortunately I can't guarantee my own reliability. I should have a lot of time, it's just not totally certain.
other JMU people -- what do you think of taking over large bits TDU for write-ins? Personally, I like the Java City more than Starbucks.

I am so excited to hear from you arrowsforpens and we would absolutely love it if you would step up as POC for JMU. Because you are a student and we want nothing more than for you to succeed at your studies and NaNoWriMo...studies first!..our expectations of you as a Student POC will be minimal. Simply pick one day a week for a minimum of one hour to attend a write-in at the location of your choice and post it to the forums! If you have the time, work together with your fellow JMU Wrimos to set up some good dates and locations. If you have time to email me with the info I will post it to the calendar. If not, I will keep an eye out for your write-in posts and gather the information myself to post to the calendar. Or if you absolutely have zero time to post to the forums send me the write-in details and I will make the announcement!
See I am making this so easy for you! I know of at least one other JMU Wrimo and I know there are others. If you want to attract more attention to the event go to http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/1005807 and print up a couple flyers to post around campus. With enough interest you can make the POC job a group effort!
Let me know what you think!

Aw, heck, I'll do it.
And don't worry about my studies-- I'm only taking two classes this semester (medical leave, but I've been feeling much better lately). And I think I can do all those things :) My time would only be sucked into a dark vortex if the health problems reappear/get worse again. I'll give a heads up if it looks like that's happening.
As for other JMU Wrimos, I know of PWB and gendou57. He just graduated and is having a busy October. maggienotmegan was here last year, but she'll be in NoVA this season. Another friend may come to write-ins but has a deep aversion to quotas, so he won't actually be NaNoing.
There must be more of us. Come on, Dukes!

Aw, heck, I will take that as a "YES" any day of the week! Thank you so much for volunteering! Two classes this semester seems ideal for NaNoWriMo but I am so sorry you had to cut back for medical reasons. I am sure that I speak for all Shenandoah Valley Wrimos when I say we do hope you stay healthy. Please remember as your MLs LaMishia and I are here to help so if you need anything please let us know. Can you NaNoMail me with a short one paragraph bio so that I can post your introduction thread?
As for your friend who has a problem with quotas, tell him to get over it and sign up! NaNoWriMo is not just about crossing the finish line, it is about the run, the writing, and the friends we make along the way! Did you know that last year over 100,000+ writers participated and only 15,000+ actually made it to 50,000 words? I know some of those people who didn't cross the finish line and not one of them regrets participating and they are all back for another year. NaNoWriMo got some of them writing again and others were writing for the first time. My own father got to 37,000 words and has a great espionage novel going that I have no doubt will be published one day. It is an exciting adventure of personal growth no matter what the goal is!
As for other JMU Wrimos, I agree with arrowsforpens! There must be more of you out there. Come on, Dukes!

As far as write ins are concerned, I may not have a never ending source of caffine but I do have a house for when things close down. I don't know how many participants are living in dorms so I don't know how meaningful this is, but just throwing it out there.

I've got an apartment and seating within (we have two of those moon chairs- but, granted, I've staked my claim on my bright green corduroy writing chair- as well as a couch, a futon, and 4 dining-room-table-chairs).
Yay for multiple JMU wrimos! I'm excited to not undertake this writing odyssey alone!

I don't attend JMU, but I do live in the greater Harrisonburg area and would love to attend a write-in! Let me know when and where and I will see if I can make it.

Well if we're judging by furniture. I have a few like fold out camp chairs, love seat, futon, dinging room chairs (like 6) and my green beanbag chair. I hope we find places for write ins that can hold everyone whether it me mine or not.

Well, it looks like I'm the only wrimo on campus. Irony much?
How about TDU/Java City on weekdays, Tuesday maybe, and someone's house on weekends, like Sundays? I'm free mostly all day, but especially in the mornings and afternoons. What times are best for y'all?

Alright, so in an attempt to make Arrows feel more or less out of place I'm going to try and pull more participants from SFFG. The announcement is being thrown tonight so I'll tell you how that goes. And depending on how the turn out is they'll tell you themselves. But the big point of all this is they're having a party already on halloween, so if enough of them join then they may start from where the party is (sorry Arrows it's off campus). I'll keep everyone posted as best I can.
