Hello everyone, another year of nano craziness is almost upon us! If this is your first year, I would like to welcome you to the beautiful insanity that is nano! If you are returning, welcome back!

Last year, we had one write-in and one meet up a week, but even those our ranks swelled to around 75 members by the end of the month, only a handful of people showed up for the events, so I am thinking of doing a couple things different this year.

One: I am thinking of just having write-ins. Especially as the month went on, i found that most people really needed and wanted to work on their stories. So I was thinking that we would schedule them as write-ins but if people had concerns, questions or needed help, we could help.

Two: I was thinking about rotating between different coffeehouses. Last year we stuck to Panera and Barnes & Nobles because they are large and have parking, but not everyone could get to them. Right now I have been trying out a couple different coffeehouses to see what would work and what wouldn't.

If anyone would like to suggest one, that will be very helpful.

Also looking for ideas for our kickoff party, thank god it's over party and possibly a halfway there party!

Any and all feedback is welcome. I am going to try and come up with a schedule over the next week or so

See everyone soon!

Even though I'm in Ossining now (and working in Yonkers) I'll come up for as much as I can. Sundays are usually best, but I can try to make it other nights too depending on the time. Now if I could only get some inspiration...

I'm in Middletown so Newburgh would be a bit more accessible than Poughkeepsie. The Starbucks in Barnes and Noble is a cozy place to meet.

I'm in New Windsor, so Newburgh would be easier for me too, but I could do Poughkeepsie depending on the day of the week. I like the idea of rotating the location each week.

Ok. I was thinking that Sundays would work the best for the weekend write-ins and then having one to two a week. Any thoughts on the days? Tuesday and Thursday or Wednesday?

Also I was thinking of having the Kickoff party the Sunday before (October 26th), unless anyone wanted to do it on the 1st?

As far as places:
The Muddy Cup in Poughkeepsie
The Muddy Cup in Beacon
The Muddy Cup in New Paltz
The Barnes & Noble in Newburgh
The Barnes & Noble in Poughkeepsie.
The Starbucks on 9 in Wappingers Falls
Panera Bread in Poughkeepsie

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I know that we have some Bard students and some other people from other parts of Dutchess and (apparently) Orange county.

See everyone soon!

I vote for Kickoff on the 26th. November 1st I'm going to get measured and order my wedding gown (seems fitting, pardon the pun, to do that in November considering last year) and won't be available most of the day.

I also would prefer the Kickoff party be on October 26th as I'll be in San Diego on the 1st.

It looks like everyone has agreed on the date of 10/26. Shall we vote on a venue?

I am in New Windsor for a wedding plans-related meeting at 10am, but I should be available by noon. No preference on location, I can get myself wherever you all want to meet.

It seems that we have reached consensus on the date for the Kickoff Party.

Last year, we held it at the Panera Bread in Poughkeepsie across from the Galleria Mall. I liked that is has ample parking and allows for a more casual get together. It does tend to be a bit crowded though.

I am also thinking of having it mid afternoon. Perhaps around two o'clock?

what are everyone's thoughts on that?

talk to everyone soon.

Panera at 2PM is fine with me. Do they have free wi-fi?

Works for me. Yes, Panera has free wi-fi. And they don't kick you out if you don't buy anything, which is another plus. :-)

If I recall, last year was four or five hours. This year with a bunch of returning WriMos I can easily see it going that long or longer.
