I'm posting this on the other NC region forums and wanted to let ya'll know what I'm up to. What do you think of a NC regional word war this year? Yet another incentive to pump out that word count!

Any feedback/suggestions are welcome! I really hope people are interested in this. I always check the regional word counts anyway but somehow making it official makes it more fun!

Hello Fellow North Carolina Wrimos!

My name is Jess and I'm co-ML of Asheville. I'm writing to you, my NC Wrimo brethren, to challenge you to a North Carolina Regional Word War this year!

I don't know individual MLs of each region so I'm posting this on each region's forum. MLs, feel free to nanomail me directly to let me know if your region is interested in participating.

Haven't figured out what winners/losers get, so suggestions are welcome!

See you in November!

Jess

Well word wars really pushed me through my last 2 NaNo Novels. Anything like that would be great!

The challenge is on!

I created a blog with word count widgets for each of our regions. Once word count is active, each one will show the current word count and people writing for each region.

Click here to visit the NC word war blog!

We're also working on "prizes" for the winning regions (1st, 2nd, 3rd). Are there any crafty people out there who'd be interested in making simple trophies/awards?

Good luck to everyone!

Only thing, the widgets don't say which region their keeping track of. How will we know who's ahead if we don't know which widget belongs to which region?

lol I'll have two chances at being in the winning region! I'm down for Charlotte as well as Asheville. ;)

Apparently they don't display the region names until the word counter is active.

lol Cool! I'm assuming our word count only counts toward our home region, though. Could be wrong!

Ok, that makes sense. Now if the names don't show up on Nov. 1st, I'll get worried again. ;)

I'm pretty sure that your word count counts toward all the regions that you are "subscribed" to.

Edit: I'm back. I just went and looked it up and you're right. It only counts toward your home region. So all I gotta do is if Charlotte is winning I'll just switch my home region to them! ;) lol

LOL you can't find me! I'll just hide in my dorm building where you can't get in. Or go and hide in the mountains. Or just throw candy back at you *is participating in giving out halloween candy this year so she will have ammo*. ;)
