I have never done Nano before, in part because I don't write fiction. I spotted the "Rebel" thread, though and so I have signed up. The thing that I most frequently see myself doing is writing through a difficult, unresolved issue. I don't see myself sharing that with anybody in real life, which leaves me a little torn, because I am feeling a kind of hunger for the fellowship of writers. May have to settle for virtual this time around, but maybe I'll have cheerier things to write about next year.

Hi!

This will be my first time doing nanowrimo as well. I joined last year but real life happened and I wasn't able to participate. I will be in the rebel section as well. Writing is a great way to get through tough times and really helps you understand and decide how you feel about issues in your life. Perhaps some others will join in your area and you can meet up with them and write. If not, virtual is still a great experience. Some of my closest friends are only known to me online. There is a certain freedom in it I suppose. Anyways, I just wanted to welcome you and let you know that you definitely won't be going at this alone.

Not everyone that participates posts their work on-line, you can put in the word count manually, then no one sees what you wrote. It is about self challenge and fulfilling your own need to write. Sometimes that is for others to see, sometimes it is to let things out constructively so we can move forward. Either way, go for it and write what you feel, and know that we are supporting you.

Welcome! I'm new, too, though I signed up last year I never really got started. My goal this time is to have fun, learn to let go of perfectionism, and win! I'm not writing about anything too serious, but I had also had the thought of having my characters work on my issues. I just don't know if I could do that in a month. I have never written fiction, at least not since high school many, many years ago (I just found the 50+ forum-yeah!) It will be a learning experience!

I'm the ML in Montgomery - if you are closer to there than any of the other locations with a ML (which include Auburn, Troy, and I think Dothan - see some of the other threads), you're welcome to come to our meetings.

We have one October 20 - see www.randomkeystrike.net for details. I will also try to have a kickoff meeting closer to start time.
