I'm here, still Seaboe.

Which conferences do you frequent? I posted in JBU Facts and Jasini posted in ... The Bar, was it? If you post places we don't, you should point people this way.

I think I've actually got an idea for this year. I'll have to see if it pans out.

Thanks for the welcome.
I will post message in the forums I frequent. I have not been posting in the bar much mainly just lurking through every once in a while.

Everybody got names? Plots?
My characters are Rowena and Meedy, plus a so-far unnamed soldier from a distant army (Sharif, maybe).

I'm a very inactive barfly, mostly reading the forums and buying books, but I am still a barfly. An itty bitty one, off in the corner.

So, my last post, I note, has my sig line twice. Other posts have no sig line at all. Clearly, they haven't fixed their sig problems yet. :-D
I read somewhere that writing a back cover blurb for your book can help keep you focused. So I wrote one:
Meedy's dream is coming true: she's halfway to being a healer. But her best friend, Rowena, wants to be a warrior. It would be hard enough to find someone to train a girl even if the Nuhan hadn't taken all the men for their army.
Then Rowena and Meedy stumble over Sarif, a wounded soldier of the al-Jazeer, on the run after a lost battle. Meedy strikes a bargain. She'll heal him and in exchange, he'll train Rowena.
Can two idealistic girls polish their dreams on the sleeve of a stranger?

Look! A topical post!:
I did a lot of initial plotting and stuff on my drive to and from my father's last weekend. Which makes sense, given the scenery along SR 26 is what inspired this year's effort. I'm also going to post my WIP to a Yahoo group I have.
I'm also getting ready to market a short story that grew out of my 2006 NaNo effort. Isn't that hilarious? I wrote 50k to come up with a 8k short story. Better than the 2005 effort, though. There I wrote 50k to come up with an 800 word short story.

Hey, Jasini, are you ready? I'm going to a kick-off write-in at Denny's tonight; I'll be writing long hand (with the wrong pen since I forgot my good one). But first, I'm going to go see Bat Boy: the Musical with some friends.
Sleep in tomorrow, that's for sure.

Where is everybody?
I wrote about a thousand words on Saturday evening, sitting at the bar in the Mapleleaf Grill, so I actually finished day one with something like 2900 words. Then, on Sunday, I took my computer to The Jones, sat in the bar and wrote another almost 3000. Today I sat at home and struggled to get to 1670 (except that somehow, I jumped from 1543 to 1727 without noticing), ending up with a three day total of 8023.
See, I know I'm going to lose two days: the 13th because I have to go see my nephew's senior play and the14th because I have to drive 300 miles after work. Not to mention that I have to walk 10+ miles on the 9th and 13.2 miles (a half-marathon) on the 29th. It would be really, really nice to hit 25k by the end of the 12th and 50k by the 28th.

I'm tired of being the only one posting in this thread. I don't intend to post again, except possibly in response to another 'fly's post. I wish you all luck.
