Hi, everyone... I'm In Plano. Anyone else in Plano doing NaNo this year?
I'm trying to challenge myself and writing in a totally different genre, like I did last year with my fictionalized memoir (which I did not have fun with and just kinda left it in its binder since last year). This year I'm writing historical fiction. What about y'all?

2004 - Daniel In The Lion's Den (crime/mystery)
2005 - Two Women and a Girl: EGG, MAT, and MSG (crime/mystery)
2007 - Finding Emma Jane (fictionalized memoir)

Plano here.
This'd be my first year doing NaNo, so I can't make a departure from my previous year, now can I? (...unless you count the deviation of participation... technicalities... frivolous!)
I am also putting something of a fictionalized memoir on hold for NaNo, but for different reasons; I need to learn to paint before I can create a masterpiece, if you'll forgive the allusion. So for this year I take my crack at the anime style love comedy.
Pleased to meet you, Scorpio

Hello, all! Last year was deviation year for me- possibly because I was in Austin at the time. Now it's back to good old Literary Fiction. Mmm, can you smell the angst? I can smell the angst.

Hi all! I'm in Plano too, well technically Dallas, but close enough!
It's my third nano year, but I've never won or gotten very far, but this year will be different, I swear! I'm branching out from my normal stuff, and writing a sort of Sci-Fi story that I've been mulling over for a while.
Anyone want to have a local write-in sometime in the next month?

Hello.
I am located in the far reaches of Dallas literally across the street from Plano. This will be my third year of participation, but the first in the Dallas area. To make up for my lack of knowing people in the area, I started a meetup group on meetup.com, the North Dallas NaNoWriMo Support Team. We meet in North Dallas locations (there has been some talk of meeting off the Tollway on Legacy) and already have several members participating. I welcome you all to join us for regular writing sessions throughout November.
Hope to see you all at our next meeting!

Hey I'm from Plano too!
This is my first year doing NaNo. I figured I'd give it a shot since I did Screnzy earlier this year and I loved it! My story's actually using a lot of the same characters from my Screnzy, just pitting them against different challenges.
(Dance puppets dance! Ahahaha!)

I'm from Carrollton and would absolutely love to get together sometime during November so that we can all work on our novels in progress :-)

I'm intrigued by historical fiction myself and wonder how I would do it. What approach or time period do you think you will take? I'm trying to convince a friend to do nano with me at the starbucks on either 15th and Custer or 15th and 75.

I've got a Dallas address, but in Collin County.
In years past, I've found a Taco Diner breakfast in the Shops at Legacy to be a decent spot for a write-in. Likewise the Cafe Brazil at GBTP and Josey. Also the iHop on Plano Parkway.
Recently, I've fallen in love with the Abundance Cafe at the Tollway and Haverwood (free wifi and LOTS of outlets).
And if you're willing to some a little farther south, Saxby's Coffee is extremely NaNo friendly.

I'm hip to a write in. Another cool spot might be the Grind on Spring Creek

Also from Plano here. There's this bubble tea bakery/cafe on Coit called Escape that's also very good for writing.

I'm in Richardson basically right across the street from Plano (and on the other side, right across from the Dallas county line). This is my first time doing NaNoWriMo, and I'm going to try and tackle a sort of mainstream/political fiction novel I've had bouncing around in my head for a little while.
Good luck to you all!

Not Plano.
But I work in Plano - right off Jupiter.
Fifth NaNo - Four Winners so far (barely - usually 15K words on November 30 thanks to several sprints and word wars).
I've recruited a few more folks this year - so hopefully the crowd will grow.
If you guys do any Plano stuff I may stop by for a coffee or beer or some such, but usually I get more writing done at home than anywhere else (even if I'm not talking to anyone), so I will most likely be on my couch challenging people to word wars.
Good luck everyone

Dallas, but I'm close enough to Plano.
This is my first year, but I've got an idea and I'm going to roll with it! I'm writing fantasy, with something like a post-apocalyptic setting.
I usually write on my balcony, but I do know that escape is a good place for it as well. Restaurants are a bit too noisy / busy for me.

Not just Plano, but DOWNTOWN Plano!
My fiancee and I are both attempting NaNo this year. It's my second try, her first. Ad for a write in, I'm game! If there's anyone here that likes the Pub atmosphere, I recommend Trinity Hall at Mockingbird Station.

I'm just a tad south of Plano in Richardson, off Plano Rd, aka Ave. K, aka Greenville (for those nearer Allen). I am all about opportunities for write ins over here at the eastside of Plano. And don't forget the new corner bakery over by collin creek! They have easy to use internet...always helpful.

I'm in Carrollton -- fairly close to the Cafe Brazil on Josey. I'd be happy to go to write-ins in Plano though, especially if they're on the west side. In any case, I'll be checking out some of the places mentioned. ;)
I also like the Flying Saucer in Addison, if anyone would like to join me for a write-in there -- free wifi, and on Mondays the beer is way cheap!

I'd like to put together a meet-up for all the Plano NaNoers. I live in downtown Plano, at Eastside Village. There is a courtyard in my complex that would work pretty well. There's also a cigar shop right across the street for any cigar smokers out there.
Post some ideas for a meeting place!

That's really near me. When would you like to meet? I think I'm going to do fanfiction of some kind. If you want to meet at 15th & 75, Einstein's is nicer and even has a large table for a group to get together.

where is Eastside Village? I don't drive so I mainly go to places near public transit. I can get a lift anywhere on weekends.
