Hey fellow nanos!

Troy public library is hosting nanowrimo events for teens and adults this year! We'll be meeting every Saturday in November from 3 to 6 pm for write-ins. November 1st will be an orientation workshop for those not familliar with the program and others who would just like some tips and ideas for getting started. Some Saturdays we'll just be scattered around the library writing individually, but there will be a librarian available to help you with questions about the program.

If you're interested go ahead and sign up at the TPL website:
www.libcoop.net/troy Under the button that says sign up for events and programming @ TPL on the bottom right of the page.

Feel free to message me here, or email me directly (L.Payne@troymi.gov) if you have any questions!

Hey! That sounds great!

I'm in Mount Clemens, at 16 & Gratiot, so I think it's an easy jaunt down 16 mile to get to the library. Been meaning to check that place out, anyway.

Do they have a cafe, like a few other libraries have created?

Namaste,
Carole

Hi Carole,

We used to have a cafe, but the owners recently packed up and fled, unfortunately. Eventually the space will be turned into a lounge. Hopefully it will be available by then!

Ah well, that's okay...a cafe is just bonus. The atmosphere, information and smells of a library are what draws me in :)

When did the cafe close? Wow, you take one semester off and everybody changes everything! Oh well, it is still a great library. Where will the NaNoers be meeting?

Without writers you would be reading tea leaves.

Yay!! This is just what I needed last year. I'm really close, so I'll probably be there every single Saturday. My gosh, how awesome. I've never been to a write-in before (sad, I know), so my question is this: how do we identify each other? Is the point of a write-in ---- aside from writing, of course---- to meet, talk, and generally hang out with other nanoers, or do people like to be left alone so they can work?

Hey Imma,

The first Saturday we'll be meeting in the library's big conference room so we can indentify each other, talk a little bit about how the challenge works for those who aren't familliar with it, and also talk some about the structure of a novel. After that the remaining Saturdays will be mostly just about writing. I find that there's something really inspiring just being around fellow nanos when they're typing away. It keeps your fingers moving. On the last day of November we'll meet at the Troy community center to celebrate, and those who would like to can read favorite passages from their novels. I look forward to seeing you there!

Hm, it's marked as a teen event. Will other adults be there?? Sounds fun though, this is my first time trying NaNo.....

Hi Renski,

Originally it was a teen event, but we decided to open it up to adults also. So far I think it's mainly adults who have signed up. We'd love for you to join us!
