I know roughly where you are. I've not lived here for very long, but mapquest has been my friend, lol. Hope you don't mind that I've added you in my buddies. Finding people local ought to be a great help :D

Last time I did NaNo, there were a handful of Lake people. So, by Nov. 1, maybe we'll have a good little thread going.

Where did you move from?

I moved here from Colorado. Before that I'd lived in Los Angeles for nearly 10 years; my daughters still live there and my parents live in in Oregon, so I've put myself about half way between them both. It's warmer here then CO, and not as bad as LA...and no smog and heavy traffic, lol! All I need is work and all would be good!

Yeah, getting a job here can be a pain in the neck. I don't know of anyone that is hiring.

Have you been to Wild About Books? It's a bookstore on Olympic in Clearlake. I bet she'd be be willing to let me put some NaNo fliers up on her counter, if someone hasn't hit her up already. I might check this weekend. She's really good about promoting local writers, hosting book clubs, that sort of thing.

I've been by there, but haven't had the chance to go in yet. I'll check it out when I get the opportunity :D thanks!

Yes, Clearlake has been under-represented for several years. It is good that there are two of us now. Maybe we will get a third by the end of the week.

I write fantasy and sci-fi. I am trying to write a sequel to a previous book. I got stuck on it two months ago after writing only a few pages, finally decided to scrap what little I had and start fresh in Nano. what do you write?

when I'm not roleplaying, my writing tends to be scattered across the map (several things started and not completed...from sci-fi to vampires to semi-historical stuff) Right now, the books I've been working on are fantasy. I'm going to focus on getting book three in my series done for Nano, as its been languishing unwritten for too long. So it sounds like we're both in a similar boat with our projects :D should be fun!

I don't roleplay, but it sounds like we are similar in other areas. I hope we both do well. Have you done Nano before?

I first learned about Nano last December...of maybe right at the end of November, I don't recall. I do remember it was too late to join in, and so I've been looking forward to this November :D Good luck with your project!

One more for Lake County!

I'm actually not there yet. We have a vacation home in Lakeport, but we live in Kazakhstan. But I'm coming back in mid-November, so I'm going to step in now so I can get going.

I've been writing for years, but only self-published. I do e-newsletters for international expatriate communities. Been dabbling in creative writing, working on my first book and a play, and have gone back to school for a double BA in professional writing and digital media communications. This is the first time I've done NaNo. Only joined a few weeks ago after someone I don't know sent out an email with info about the website through one of my Yahoo groups.

I'm interested in a broad range of genre. I'm a Mark Twain groupie. I'll probably write chic-lit to start, but scifi, creative non-fiction, historical, travel, children's lit, plays and screen writing all appeal to me. I'm even considering humorous erotica.

Looking forward to our work together...

Hiya neighbors! I am in Colusa County, just to your East. I already know one of you.

I am going to the San Francisco NaNoWriMo Night of Writing Dangerously on the 15th of November. I can bring one guest with me, but have not found anyone local interested in going. So I am extending an invitation to you, my neighbors in Lake County.

If any of you have not raised the sponsorship money to go, but still wish to attend, let me know via NanoMail. The first person to express an interest will be my guests at this year's event!

:)

The dreary weather these days is good motivation to stay inside and write.

How's everyone doing? Holding in there? Numbers are looking good...and as I'm taking a break for lunch I decided to do a little cheerleading! Keep up the great work!

Hope everyone's novels are going smoothly and doing well as we come down to the wire. I just put in my final word count for a win, so I'm a happy camper!

Here's looking to next year!
