I'm setting my novel in New York (it's an urban fantasy) and I'd like a cover that has some local image on it I've found a few on the web but mostly of important buildings (like the capital or the Egg) and I'd like something that isn't so... obvious. I'm going to take a few pictures myself (mostly because I love fall colors) but anyone want to help me?

Oh my... I actually think I can do this. Of course I may go crazy in the process...

Personally, I've always thought nothing quite says "Albany" like a 30-foot tall concrete dog - have you considered a picture of Nipper?
The autumn foliage is lovely, but not unique to our area. You might want to take a look at some of Troy's historic streets as well. I have some digital shots of Waterford and a few other areas which I don't mind sharing, but I'm not sure exactly what you have in mind . . . .

I have a bunch of day and night shots of the plaza taken from my regular camera and my cell phone if you are interested.

Thanks both of you. I took a picture of the Rip Van Winkle Bridge and I might get one of Olana (local landmarks in this area). Nipper is quite the icon in Albany and I'll consider Troy too... or maybe something in Glenmont. This is the first time I've written about an actually existing area and I'd like to make sure I know the area that I'm setting my novel in. (Which is why I usually write pure fantasy. No one can say, "Hey, the streetlights in Mag Mell are on the side of streets not hanging above the roads." lol)
