I'm here in Simi. I was just lurking last year, but am planning on participating fully this year. Very excited! My 11 year old daughter will be writing with me. We just sort of played at it last year, but even so, it was a lot of fun for us. Now, I've had a whole year for ideas to percolate so getting them down on paper will kind of be a relief.

Hello, everyone. I'm out in Thousand Oaks. In previous years, I've gone to events with the Santa Barbara group, but they seem to have faded into the mists. Does anyone have plans for meet-ups or write-ins? Or have another region they recommend for us elsewheres?

Hey all! I live in Camarillo and Ventura. I'm interested in meet-ups, but sadly don't have any locations to contribute.

I'm in Newbury Park and I was looking for a Ventura County Region too! I found out about this through my english teacher, but I am the only one I know who has signed up. It kind of makes me feel lonesome when it tells me I have no writing buddies and no home region (;

I'm also in Newbury Park. I'd love to have a meet up, maybe at the T.O. Library?

So...would anyone want to start a writing group online or maybe meet up at some point? I think it might be fun!

Hello Fellow Ventura County Wrimos:
I am also here in Simi Valley. This is my first year and I am so excited! I would be tremendously interested in attending meet-ups and write-ins. Can we get any going? Or, which other area's meet-ups do people from Ventura usually go to? Please Reply.
Also, please feel free to leave me a message at my profile page if you want to be writing buddies. I think the encouragement and feedback will be great.
Thanks

Writing from Ventura myself. I some how figured that there weren't any write-ins locally, aside from the illustrious SB, but I'm also a lazy writer who choose which days to pound out large amounts and then has off days.

Anyone else here done Nano in other years?

Sigh. I'm afraid my story hasn't got 50,000 words' worth of story in it. My challenge in writing is plot. I can always find time to write; I'll go without sleep. I've framed my story, and put some meat on it, but I think if I put 50,000 words of meat on it, my book will be obese, not in a good way.

How to you add to your plots without making the additions seem like fluff?

Hello everyone. I'm from Moorpark and this is my first year writing for wrimo, too. About your question, bhabecker, if you have little twists in your story that come in huge bunches at one time, try putting them in different scenes, but in the same order (wow, I had a lot of commas in that sentence that I don't believe should have been there). That way, you can spread out the story, but the plot stays the same. I have been doing this with my story (even though I have been winging it at some parts), and it works quite well for me. Also, I would love to meet up with some of you and have a write in. I find that I become more motivated when I'm around people who enjoy writing, too.

Well you don't really have to worry about it too much at this stage. As a first draft, it's usually better to write more. I find that my first pass at editing will weed out much of the excess stuff. My main issues is repetition. I'm like Mojo-Jojo when I write - I restate and emphasize and make sure I've made a point of pointing out my point. ;-) It's just what happens when I'm on autopilot writing mode.

So I say for this kind of thing, just keep writing, even if you let the story get away or pass your outlined ending. Your goal is to meet the word count and have fun!

I'm guessing your story is mainly consisting of character development, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't feel there needs to be what most consider a contemporary plot. You can have a bunch of meandering stuff go on, where no one goes in search of a magical dragon or has a job which leads to a life altering question of one's morality and all that fancy jazz.

For right now, if you're loving your characters, just love on them lots. There is a never-ending word count to personality.

Hi! I'm Rayney's sister and, well, this is my first year on nanowrimo also. We're both from Moorpark (as you might already know).

So is everyone hanging in there? Running into any issues of bumps. This weekend turned into a big bump for me. Didn't get any writing done. looks like I'm gonna have to double up this week and maybe write both days this weekend. Still, the story is coming along and that's good.

How are you all doing?

Hi! I'm feeling well, I just have to find a way to kick my sister off the computer so I can catch up with her on my word count. (rayney is my sister's account. Just look up to see how much farther along she is than I am.) I hope you're reading this rayney!!
