Meeting location!

Hunt Club bar and grill, second floor.

Sunday October 26th, 2-4pm. And every Sunday thereafter.

Cost is $7.50 per person. This includes coffee/tea (and muffins I think) plus taxes and gratuity.

A *minimum* of 20 people need to attend to make this viable for the club. (We're getting an insane deal as is :))

Location for meetings?

For this unfamiliar....

2005 and 2006 had about 20 people show for the first pre nano meeting (first Sunday before October). Numbers fluctuated around that, we took over some coffee shops and so forth.

2007 had over double that show at the first meeting, leading to lots of standing people, many surprised people, and so forth. Quite a few did not return after that fiasco: the resulting group was, still, too large for a coffee shop.

So, for 2008, we need a location that can accommodate at least 40 people, in Victoria (ideally around downtownish/close to many buses), on Sunday afternoons.

Attempts have been made for the following locations:

Hunters Club Bar and Grill - would have been $7.50/person, including drinks and muffins. Required a minimum attendance of 20 people, which we could not guarantee. [Which is too bad: it was an excellent deal.]
Cool Aid Society: did not end up having an actual meeting room; gym booked.
Burnside/Gorge Community Centre - has been called three times, two voice mails left; no one has called back.
Fairfield: Twice (one message left). No reply as of yet.
James Bay Community Centre; did reply, but wanted $35+/hr (including gst and staffing fee) ... and a $200 deposit, for the one meeting.

alternatives: a church?

Final alternative: if no location is procured by October 20th, we'll use the food court at the Bay Centre, put tables together and go that route.

Meeting time (we did Sunday afternoons the past few years, so assuming we shall again):
Pre nano: Sun, October 26th, 2-5pm
Nano ones: Nov. 2,9,16,23, same time.

As the final Sunday is the end of the month, there would probably not be one then and just the usual Thank God It's Over party on the first :)

University of Victoria students UNITE!

Hey all U.Vicians!

I myself am only a part time student, but am there three days out of the week. I'd love to meet up with other students before November comes around, and of course, during.

Crunch time in schools, as we all know, is also November, probably just to cause us NaNo'ers pain...

Anyway, I'd love to a) have a cheering section, and b) be a cheering section, so feel free to give me a shout with any ideas for meet-ups and/or support groups.

That, even though it's an hour and a half of ferry ride across the border, Victoria is probably closer than a good portion of my own state. I live on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. So I decided to keep an eye on this too.
