Newbies aren't the only ones who need help. I dunno about any of you, but I'm not feeling terribly optimistic about this year's NaNoWriMo. For everyone who feels similar to me, but isn't necessarily a newbie, come here to find a match to help you get through this year. This follows the same format as Adopt a Newbie, so you should post:
- Age
- Location
- Genre
- A little bit about your novel (Although, naturally, some pessimists may have the root of their pessimism in their lack of an idea, in which case you don't need to fill this out).
Don't, don't, DON'T post your e-mail here. Your adopter should contact you via NaNo Mail.
So, I'll go first:
I'm Aaron, I'm 16 years old, and I don't have a clue what I'm going to write about this year. Among other ideas, I've had sci-fi elves (elves that are aliens, it's kind of a long story), magical pirates (a thinly veiled knock-off of the Pirates of the Caribbean setting), and real-world superheroes (although I used that last year so I'm not inclined to use it again). Most recently, I've come up with the idea for a murder mystery from the perspective of the murderer; I doubt that's original, but I've been watching Castle recently and it got me inspired.
Good luck finding an adopter!

I'm Becca (waves) and this is my third NaNo, but first NaNo that I can't fall back on hard facts with. I am freaking out overthe smallest of world-building and I seriously don't know if my ideas are brilliant or corny. My novel takes place in England, and I needs loads of help with just the setting alone. It involces a group of people helping to stop an uprising from a political party, in a world where the "Spirit" helps to control man and object. Thanks!

I'm Anity, thirteen, from Pittsburgh, PA, USA. I write dark fantasy; I have multiple ideas for this year, and I can inform you about what I'm doing once *I've* decided. Mostly, I need someone to nag me; if everyone I know will be sympathetic about me quitting NaNoWriMo, I'll do it, so I need someone to annoy me about writing every day, the full amount, whether I want to or not. Please?

And, erm, sort of a plot, buried somewhere underneath it all. Somewhere. And I need someone who will kick me, and be generally horrible, because if I get sympathy I'll just wallow. Thanks :)

Oh, that's shiny. I would love that. We need to get help to all the pessimists out there, kind of like a support group. "Hi, my name is Aaron, and I am a pessimist" and all that jazz.
Anyway, anyone had any luck in finding an adopter? I've already been contacted, and I'm about to get back to them in a few minutes. Feeling more optimistic already!

I'm excited to start because I have all these great ideas and this novel should be easy because it's the same characters from last year so I still have my outline and I'm just so looking foward to writing my first word...except that I know I won't feel the same rush when I actually do type. Does that count?

Genre: Oh, this should be interesting. It's probably a fantasy, but it doesn't fit under any of the true fantasy categories. Parts of it (if I write it well enough) could be horror, but the whole thing isn't about trying to make you all creeped out. It's more like supernatural, but I'm pretty sure that isn't a current genre/subgenre. It should be, because then there could be so many branches of it, but there you go.
About my novel: Long story (really, really) short, it should be about a half human/half demon who is a natural leasher (someone who can send demons/other supernatural creatures back to their world) and the one demon she can't leash. Here is why I guess I could be considered a pessimist: the fact that pure demons should not exist and I know potential readers would have to suspend disbelief anyway, but I don't think they'd be able to buy pure demons poofing into existance so I'm not sure that angle would work too well. I want to write it that way, but I don't want to turn a lot of people off. I'm assuming that one day this will be published and that's my end goal (eventually), and I just want to write in a way that makes people at least continue reading this novel. Help please.
I don't have plot bunnies, I have plot demons. They're more demonic than the demons in my novels. Go figure.

I'm Maddy [or.. my pen name is Maddy], I'm 14, and this is my second NaNo.
I'm sitting here in sunny Cali. ^ ^
This year I'm trying out Romance, and my novel is basically about two people whom the fates proclaimed soul mates, then said that if the mmc ever lays a hand on the fmc [even casual touch, like holding hands] then the mmc will lose the fmc, forever. period.
I'm posting this only because I'm in the pessimist frame of mind at the moment, but tomorrow I might be totally optimistic about NaNo. Who knows? I think it has something to do with the moon. Huh. Who knows?
Anyways, hi! How's life, everyone?
..Did I just seriously write "Who knows?" once in the same paragraph?
Haha, that reminds me of this guy at my school. Seriously, every time I talk to him, I start by saying "Hey, I was wondering..." And break off the conversation by saying "Sorry," [apparently because I sub-consciously feel like I'm boring him to death by talking to him... ?] Woah, that was off topic.

I'm Evie, I'm 16 and I'm from Utah. I've got a fair arsenal of good ideas floating around in my cranium. My novel is going to be fantasy, with probably some real world locations and some made up ones. My main character is a woman in her mid twenties who, (against her ever so stubborn will) gets pulled into a world domination plot after venturing into the market place to watch some Gypsies. (I never said originality was my strong point, but there are only 7 original stories so I'm safe.) My main problem is *hides face for shame* procrastination. I loose my will to continue and I need a person who is willing to gun me down with nanomails reminding me that I have to get up and write. Thanks Muchly!

I have a couple novel ideas I'm tossing around...which, truthfully, is part of my problem. I don't know which I want to go with. They both sound awesome in my head, but when I try to explain them they sound stupid.
Also, I'm just not a very optimistic person about ANYTHING. I'm hoping to break that this year. I just have to keep reminding myself that it's not about the quality, nor even the quantity. It's about having fun.

Well, I've tried explaining my novel before, and it just keeps getting harder and harder.
Let's see...it takes place during this time period (2009/10), and starts with my MC, Cassian, discovering a letter. This letter was written by a girl named Tara not too long before he discovers it, and it basically shares this gigantic revelation about how there are two warring factions in the world (The Zedists and the Masked), and how they are both trying to find the magic.
The magic is the hardest part to explain. It's like...well, it came about during the Salem Witch Trials, which weren't as much of a hoax as people believe. History was rewritten by the two groups in order to hide the fact that magic exists. At the end of the trials the magic was hidden (I need to figure out how), and even centuries later the two groups are fighting to find it.
Cassian is drawn into this war thanks to Tara, and he has to evade the Zedists (bad people), while trying to help Tara and the rest of the Masked.

Hi there,
----------this is me, Federkiel. I´m 21 and living in Germany.
This is my first NaNoWriMo and I plan to write Romance. The story takes place in a world and time similar to the ancient world where a woman who is part of a resistence movement and a man who is part of the government falls in love. They have to struggle with themselves, with each other and with their environment.
I would appreciate support and motivation for I´m not sure if I´m able to write that much next to my internship.
But I will do my very best!

Eli was born mute. One day, he clearly spouts out a sentence of impending doom- and it happens! Everything that he says turns out to be true, but that isnt great for Eli and some of the villagers. He keeps predicting misfortune, so they deem him and dark oracle and banish him from the town. He travels some kind of random journey and then dies or commits suicide. Yeah.... plot happens? For purely selfish reasons (who wants to be stuck on a barren wasteland for the rest of eternity?) he does his best to avoid killing his targets which are the few people that can stop the Apocalypse.

Okay, okay, I KNOW I'm pretty much breaking NaNo rules here, but I'm using NaNo to continue something I started over the summer. Yes, I know, it goes against tradition, but I think I see real potential in this story and I'm determined to finish it. Now that I've been in this for three months, however, I'm starting to feel a bit... doubtful. It started as sci-fi - an evil organization in a futuristic society ravaging the world with a programmable drug. In all my 30K, I still haven't gotten to the really good stuff. Worse, the story's starting to turn into a romance. I haven't written in four days and I'm determined to finish this thing by Christmas. You could say i'm a little pessimistic.
