I am in Port Townsend!!! Wheee! :D I want you all as my buddy, and to see us at a coffee shop (tho I drink tea mostly), or at a Thai shop for dinner or lunch (I love Thai food). I'm so excited for Nov 1.

I'm in Oak Harbor, just a short ferry ride across the salt chuck from PT. One of my (our) favorite activities is to ride across, on foot, and ramble up and down the PT waterfront section. So, if you all decide to gather for tea & crumpets or such before the NaNoWriMo kickoff, be sure to post it here and perhaps we'll journey across to say "Hi!"

Ahoy, yuh lubbers! This here cannery wharf is deserted! Not even rats scurrying around, nor seagulls screechin' about.

What gives? Where'd yuh all go? Don't tell me yuh went to sharpen yer pencils and erase some new blank pages in yer old notebooks, cuz I ain't buyin' it!

Come on out 'n show yerselves. Don't be shy.

Looks as though we have a lower-than-usual PT turn-out this year. Bummer.

Hi Phoenix and other PT'ers. How can you tell if PT is a "low" turn-out. I don't know where to look to find PT participants and if there is a place- I'd love to know about it. All I know is how to join "Washington : Elsewhere".

Anyone up for meeting once or twice a week here and there around town to sit and write?

I'm around again this year, just slow on the draw to say, "Hi all!" It's going to be a packed-full November for me -- we just bought a house that closes on Friday and will be doing as-quick-as-we-can remodeling over the next few months. I'm probably one of the few people around these parts thinking "yay for kids!" since someone will have to take them from project-house to sleeping-house each night. I'm thinking "primo writing time!" and am still planning to make my 50k and hopefully more. I have two stories to work with and I'd like to start the second even if I don't make 50k twice.

S O S

I don't know how to hold onto this Port Townsend thread and not get every single posting on the "elsewhere" forum, can someone tell me how?..or are we all getting all the postings as well? Can we start our own in FORUMS so that this will stop?

Rrrrrr
(that's my pirate talk)

Cathyformusa: I'm not sure what problem is causing you to have a big "elsewhere" message flood. I navigate to this "Ahoy, Port Townsenders" topic by using the links, and have no problem.

http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/3264149

That's the URL for this topic.

I'm across the channel from PT, here in Oak Harbor. I was looking for some excuse to come over on the ferry and visit NaNo folks since I enjoy strolling the downtown waterfront so much, but there's been no activity in this topic until today.

We had our Island/Skagit county get-together last Saturday in Anacortes. Five of us were there; it was fun.

Good luck, all, and have fun!

Ahoy there! I've got to apologize, I've been slow on the uptake this year. I'm the moderator of the PT-NaNo group on Livejournal (though my username over there is now sekaigo, not hireadd, in case anyone needs to contact me), but this year marks my first time trying to balance NaNo and college, so I'm a bit insane. ;) Nice to meet you all, in any case!

I've heard news that there might be a NaNo group at Undertown Coffee this year, which would be a lot of fun--has anyone heard more about that?

Just joined today, so am a little behind the eight ball. New to this - so taking wobbly steps! I am on as writing.im. Thought Yoda may have some wisdom to drop in my head! Anyway - you may know me... Susan Corcoran. Phoenix - we met when Lee Lynch was in town (quite a while ago, but memorable, still!).

Hey y'all! Glad to see so many familiar... usernames!?!
This year I'm looking forward to starting on Day 1 instead of Day 11. In which case I'd best sign off here & get crackin' & tappin'.
Best luck to all, looking forward to seeing each & everyone of you in the 'winners' circle' in just 30 short days & long nights.

Now if I can just figure out what I'm going to write about...???

Good grief! I thought I had subscribed to this thread...but evidently not, as I've received no notifications of the last dozen posts.

There are generally around 6-8 PT WriMos, so it looks as if we actually do have close to the usual number after all. I don't think we've had a local write-in, but we've had a couple of TGIO parties. :-) The Undertown sounds like an interesting venue for some sort of gathering, yup.

Hey add another to the PT list. I'm here in town too. I subscribed to the topic. I'm a little clueless. Do we all belong to the Region WA: Elsewhere? How come there are no word counts for this region listed so far? I'll try the Widget thing, but gotta get back to my writing. Happy writing thoughts to all.

Undertown sounds great to me, though at present I'm down in da big city of PDX where I would dearly love to make the Tao of Tea – with real made-from-scratch '500 mile chai! I won't be back till the weekend next, but would love to have a set-&-write down with any & all y'all. (Just wish there was someplace I could bring my little dog FrendL, who's recovering from major surgery last month still.)

Though I'm off to a low start, still 782 words ahead of where I was at last year! And I'm blown away to see that the word count for our region today is already over 2.5K/avg per person!

So far so good for me. I like what I'm on to so far!

I'll let you know when I go off-line while traveling. And when I get back, I won't have internet where I live the way I do here where I've been staying.

Yours in the love of words,
DD
Nice to see you back, Phoenix. And hey, where's Ryan?

Oh, godlov8? I found the word count for the day not on that loooong list of regions, but by using the drop-down 'my nanowrimo' menu from my 'my nanowrimo page and clicking on 'my regions'. (Or else/maybe also from the sidebar on my nano page, also labeled 'my regions.') This after subscribing to this region... which I think I did earlier today?

Last is to ask if there's any way anyone knows of to post the official web badge onto my Fbook page? Sweet dreams, and rest those fingers, folks!

-Mydiylifer, thanks, I found the info in my regions-view, then in a window labeled stats.

-To anyone and everyone in this area, I'd be up for getting together at least once. I like to write at home, so I'm more up for a meet and greet to talk about our work and experience doing the challenge. For the record, I'm noid about revealing my name (with a specific location) on a public website, however I'm still happy to meet locals.
-Cathy, we do know each other a little from around PT. You saw me last week outside a local grocery store. You gave me a card, which you found in the parking lot. I mention it because that gave me an idea which I included in my story for NaNo!

I wish everyone well and happy times writing.

Hello, all, just wanted to let you know there are a few more PT Nanoers meeting weekly, if you haven't heard of the Writers Workshoppe, GO THERE NOW! It is above the Imprint Bookstore, across from Max Grover Gallery. Ask the wonderful proprietor Anna about the next write-in.

Happy writing!
Elisa

Hey. PT Folk...I'm with you in spirit if not in the flesh! Hearde about Nanowrimo through the Leader. I'm in San Fran/Berkeley for the month of November, so SF is my primary group (and appropriate as its the setting for my novel this year.) Keep truckin'...I'm on target at 10,000 words. Will be back at my home in PT in December...looking forward to meeting the bunch of you.

Tally ho!

Stroll Water Street away, it'll give you ideas! I considered using the Celtic Shop and Sleepy Otter Quilts in my story. Odd, since its set and the library in San Francisco, but I've still 40,000 words to go, so it might yet happen!

Nope, not lower than usual turnout, just a lot of us "diving our time." Hey! That might be the title of next years work!
