NaNoDrinkies nights are our social time out from writing. They're open to all ages and this year will be held at three degrees bar brewery at QV, on the corner of Swanston and Lonsdale Streets. We usually hang out in the back right-hand corner (as you're facing into the bar from the front doors), but if it's busy I'll be wearing bunny ears the first few times to help people find us. If you get absolutely lost my mobile number is 0423 100 346.

All you need to bring to drinkies is yourselves and some dosh to be able to partake of the delicious drinks (the raspberry lemonade is a particularly fine vintage for those who aren't of age for booze) and yummy snacks or meals (with vegetarian and gluten-free options).

Drinkies begin on Wednesday 21st of October at 5.30 PM and will run weekly through to Wednesday 9th of December, starting at 5.30 PM.

I may be able to make it on at least one occasion. If I can find a week where I don't have a piece of vital assessment on the Wednesday evening, and can make it back home afterwards, sure, I'll be happy to come along and have a drink or two with the Melbourne NaNo team.

3 Degrees is pretty good, though I think almost every plate comes with chips and I won't be eating them. If only there was someone who could eat my chips... (*eyes Ebelie*)

Wednesday is gym day, but I'll try to make it to some of them - BTW, if you shop at safeway look for the $5 meal vouchers on the back of your docket... Haven't used one, but it could come in handy (the last lot I had expired at the end of september)

I'm new to NaNo so can someone tell me approximately how many people come along to the drinkies? I'd love to meet other WriMos.

Facebook linking! You show off ;)

When Ripley and Walter get together... look out... and, actually there's video footage of the two of them somewhere... RIpley was 'looking for his keys'... ahem

I work very close to the city so I'm usually the first or one of the first there. Just look for the girl with glasses with the laptop (well, during Nano... I make no guarantees about whether I'll have the laptop out before then) and wander over and say plaintively, "Nano?" I shall respond with "Wrimo!" and we have a new game!

Ooh, I dunno Katling - I now work literally a block up the road from 3 Degrees... I may beat you there!

I'm the Chinese guy trying to look casual in business attire. Probably with rolled up sleeves. I also have a brown Fossil messenger bag I bring to work, but really, I don't think many asians hang out in 3 Degrees, so I should be easy to spot.

In reply to my earlier 'I might be there', I've now decided that I absolutely will be there, even if I will have to skip a class to be there. I don't have any assessment in that particular class, in any case, and I won't fail on attendance, so yeah, hope to see you all there.

I should be able to make it for an hour or so! I'll be the tall girl with (currently) dark red hair and a leather coat.

Let me nip down to the store to purchase myself a fursuit...

lol seriously though, I would love to make it to at least one of these events. Probably the first. It's still highly unlikely that I'll be actually participating in NaNo itself because of exams (as usual) and the fact there's a lot to study in psych rotation, but this community is heaps of fun and social life is good.

So that said, provided I don't have any classes at the time and don't have to drive from, say, Sunshine in peak-hour traffic, I'll be at the first one for sure.

Hardy-har-har. My bunny ears are essential during NaNo. They channel excess plot ideas and inspiration from the air into my head, which is why my mystery novel about a proofreader is also going to include an End Times cult and rollerskating.

That sounds awesome.

So if that's awesome, imagine how awesome it'd be if one wore a whole fursuit for nano!

FURSUIT! :-D

I could just rock up wearing my cute little fluro vixen ears/tail/armwarmer-paw-things, but I'm not quite that flamboyant >_>

Yes, folks, that's right. Bella has converted to furry since the last NaNo.

I knew you were a closet-furry since 2007!

Haaaahahahahahaha. How ironic it is that I quit the fandom scene in 2008.

I wasn't! I was a furry hater! I was converted at a 19th after consuming much vodka, and looking through the birthday boy's furry folder! My reward for finishing NaNo? Going to MiDFur =_=

Jesus Christ. The drama on the ozfurs mailing list in 2008 was in fact one of the triggers to me leaving. It became a chore to sift through my email for messages I actually wanted/had to read.
