Keldaryth has kindly offered to host a Cup Day write-in again this year, so if you're not working for extra pay or already attending a Cup Day event, why not consider using the day to get ahead on your word count with a great group of like-minded writers?

This write-in will be at 574 Drummond Street, Carlton North, starting at 1PM. If you need directions or want to check if people are still writing, please contact Keldaryth on 0448 888 997.

BYO food and drink, writing implements of choice, powerboards and extension cords (if you have boards and cords available).

N.B. Write-ins are primarily focused on writing. They can be a social time as well, but if a word war or quiet writing time is in progress, please respect that.

Edit: updated map link as it wasn't working. Thanks Franz!

P.S. When you get there, please use the doorknocker, as the doorbell is not working.

Considering I was hungover last Cup Day, perhaps locking myself in for this would be a good idea to avoid going out the night before and derailed the rest of the month.

Oh BTW, if people want to do a roast with the Cup Day write in, the oven is fully functional... :)

(I may be getting a new VOIP number soon, which is why phone number is TBC)

Is your microwave fully functional, just incase we need some 5 minute chocolate cakes?

I'll probably come to this one again this year, although I'll be going laptop-less since I don't have one ._.

I can offer you my netbook to write on, if you like. Provided you don't mind the not-quite pornographic wallpaper, and OpenOffice.

As long as it's not Arnie or the Hoff, I can mind. I've already been traumatized by a prank involving changing my computer's wallpaper to soft-porn Hasselhoff and I refuse to see it again, the horror!

I'll be bringing my Asus EEE (along with a full-sized keyboard) to all the write-ins incase anyone needs a writing implement!

Oh how I hate being under-age. My parents are of the opinion that everyone on the internet is a pedophile, scammer or both. Only two more years til I can make up my own freaking mind.

If you want, you can shoot me a NaNoMail and I can give you my contact number or email if they'd like to contact me; I'm happy to talk to them if that might help.

Posting this here as it goes for anyone else who might need similar reassurance.

You're also quite welcome to contact me in this instance since I'm hosting the actual event in this case. :)

Oh dear. I sympathize! It took a lot of convincing to get my mother to let me go to the meet ups last year (was 15 at the time). Even then, I had to be on the train home by 6 or 7. How fail. This year, though, I'll be able to stay as long as I want >:3

Hi Keldaryth - would you mind if a couple of well-behaved youngsters doing the Young Writers' Program came along for a while?

Probably won't be along to the cup-day write in. It'd be easy enough to get there and home theoretically, but the problem is that the Ballarat line isn't the safest place in the world, and it's 100% worse on public holidays, because more people are drunk and ready to start fights. So unless I want to drive (3 hours on a motorbike carrying everything = no way), I won't be there. Apologies etc.

Hey there,

Please count me in. My timetable is so chock-a-block for November that I don't think I'll be able to get to any of the write-ins and Wednesday night drinkies is out for me because that's when I have my church small group meetings! Argh!

So I'd love to come along on Cup day!

Hi Treefern,

Shouldn't be a problem as long as they do realise it's likely to be a writing-centric affair. There average age in my house is about 24, so there's not a lot of youngsteriffic happenings over here. If they're serious about writing and can deal with the diversity that is the NaNo crowd and associated people, then all is good.

I also accept no responsibility for the exposure of young minds to the potentially warping effects of adult conversation and swearing. :D

However, there will be roast animal.

On a broader note, please advise me if you are bringing things for roast animal dinner, such as dead animal parts and root vegetables for roasting or salady type stuff. I only have one oven, although it is a very good and very efficient oven...

Like a cat in a box with a radioactive isotope set to trigger a bomb, I may or not be there. I'd like to be, but life! She be a fickle beast, a harsh mistress indeed.

Numbers are looking good! I shall bring a powerboard and extension cord, or two if I can manage it.

I shall bring along bottles of homebrand fizzy drinks and packets of homebrand snak foods. And perhaps some starburst lollies.

And a powerboard. And my hat... AND Ripley.

A write-in with a roast sounds like a fantastic idea! I'd love to come, but it all depends on whether or not my husband has committed me to a non-nano social event that day. I know socialising with 'other' people during november sounds like a crazy idea, but I do like the idea of having an excuse to wear a silly hat.

I will be there, accompanied by assorted food items and hopefully a powerboard or two. I will also bring my Neo along if someone would like to borrow it. Just make sure you bring a USB stick or an email address so you can retrieve your writing at the end of the day.
