This thread is big on long-term commitments (Many people return visit 3+ years in a row). We just haven't met the right novel yet.
So take a minute to discuss your novel, your singlehood, and we'll see where October and November take us.
Point of Order: This is not a place to post your singles advertisement. Try Chemistry.com, if you're not freaked out by the old guy in the television ads.
I'm Brian.
Age: 26.
Relationship status: Single.
This Year's Disaster:
Story about a woman dying of cancer who gets defrauded out of $2 million by a phony doctor, and the staff of the local newspaper who discover the fraud before she and her family do. So, lit fiction.
I've already started and hope to have 40,000 words by Nov. 1, and will add an additional 50,000 to finish the first draft way earlier than normal.
Cheers,
B.

I'm one of those that Brian was talking about. Third year here. But I don't know... I might be going to hang out in the corner though--stuff might happen, bu I don't want to jinx it.
Um, yeah.
No bloody clue what I'm writing about this year, as usual. :)

I'm Brianna, but I'm pretty sure that's irrelevant.
Age: 21
Relationship Status: Still Single.
Novel Idea I've been considering for this year: an alien comes to the planet and posees about a teenage girl to finish her education by learning about the human race and deciding if they're a threat to more intelligent life forms . Or, more likely, something that is entirely not like this at all. I've also been considering rewriting my serial killer novel from last year, the sequel to the novel I did 2 years ago, or something that is entirely unlike all of these things.
Okay...I'm done talking now.

I have no idea what I am going to write for NaNo, but I'm currently working on something else that I hope to finish before the end of October lest I actually abandon it and never return. It's called "That Joke Isn't Funny Any More", it's about a man and his missing daughter. I'm putting it on my website chapter by chapter. You can find it at http://ilovemattfishwick.com (because nobody else does)

This year's hair puller:
A young woman who can see the soul bonds between people, finds herself bound to a serial killer. It's a horror/paranormal/comedy. Trust me, I know what I'm doing. Mostly.
I'll probably comment a few times here and then once November comes, I'll disappear. 'Cause that's how I roll.

Here I am again, third year in a row, though I rather fell off the edge of forumhood last year in the middle of job/friend/family/noveling madness.
But anyway, I'm Maisie, or Midge (I answer to both), 21, and single, of course. The novel for this year is a fantasy/romance, and the FMC is an aristocrat and a magician in a world where being a magician is about as exciting as being a plumber. I don't know much of the plot aside from that, mostly I know the characters first.
It's great to see everyone!

This year's novel is literary fiction in the vein of "1984." "Payroll" is about a world where corporations have staged a hostile takeover of the government. Now, at an undisclosed time in the near future, well after the takeover, society is a for-profit enterprise. The MC (I haven't settled on a name, but I'm leaning towards Officer Alonso Burns), an officer in Human Resources who now act as the police, is sent to investigate the apparent suicide of high-level VP. But something doesn't fit the picture, and what Alonso will uncover will threaten the very society that he's paid to uphold.
I should be working more on the outline and character profiles, but unfortunately I came down with the flu right when the NaNo site came back up. I'll have to push forward when I'm no longer having fever-induced hallucinations.

----------Once again, another novel for my on going supernatural/predinatural horror/action/fantasy series, Hunter's Prey. This year an Alternate Universe story, set in a small western town, centering around a pair of best friends, Saffron Azreal, short and tiny extremely feminine looking young man and a death elemental. and Matt 'Graves' Hogan, tall, muscular necromancer with blue hair and drives a hearse. Saffron hates his abilities of being a death elemental, and being able to take a life with just a touch if he so wants, knowing he must take lives, to continue to live himself. A former slave, people scare Saffron. The only person he's close to is, Graves, who's screw the world attitude allows Saffron to hide behind him. Being a necromancer and able to raise the dead, Graves and Saffron have a priceless connection between them. Completely loyal to each other, Graves is also very protective over Saffron. Which is no wonder, since Saffron is the oldest of the Trinity, a set of triplets who keep magic alive. Graves happens to be his guardian. Will go from being best friends to being lovers, despite certain events and characters threatening to tear them apart.

Hi everyone!
24, female, single
November seems pretty far away at this point, but I'm sure it'll be here before we know it and I'll of course be completely underprepared to write 50k... so it goes each year :) I've won the past two years, so I'm hoping this year will be #3.
No idea what I'll be writing yet, but I tend to write mainstream/lit fic....crazy and/or interesting things that happen to everyday people. I might throw in a bit of action/adventure this year and see what happens.
I'm currently working on my second degree in nursing and have two jobs - one in an OR and one in a blood bank...insane amounts of work might have something to do with my single-ness ;)
Looking forward to writing with you all!

I know what you mean. I'm in a not-so-small town, but I feel like an odd-one-out... religiously, and even within the small religious community I still feel odd as my non-religious interests differ so much too. Plus, there are no single men of my religion in my city.
I love your novel idea :)

I think Brian and I are the only two left from the original group. Crazy.
I wasn't supposed to still be single this year, but I got an unexpected and unpleasant surprise over the summer. Still dealing with it. They say these things take time. I think I'm going to make him the villain of this year's novel. If I ever come up with a plot.
So, the stats:
I'm Karen.
I'm 32.
I live in California.
Recently re-singled.
I have yet to decide what to write this November. Whatever it is will be craptastic and I'll enjoy the hell out of writing it.

Hello everybody!
I'm Katheryn. First year at NaNo.
Age:43.
Relationship status: Single, never married, no kids. Attempting to discern a possible vocation to consecrated virginity in the Catholic Church.
My novel-to-be:
In 1934, two ambitious young actors meet in Hollywood and marry 22 days later. She was a 23-year-old British dancer-singer who had come up the hard way through the chorus line; he was a 34-year-old French matinee idol who had attended the Sorbonne. Their friends thought that their marriage might last six months — two years at best. It ended up lasting for 44 years. Yet their happy marriage was to end in tragedy...
It's historical fiction — a biographical novel based on the marriage of Charles Boyer and Pat Paterson. (Do you think I would make up such a plot?) I've started a detailed plot outline, but will not actually start the novel till Nov.1. I intend to write at least 50,001 words of the novel in November, though I think that it will require 60,000-75.000 to complete. But as long as I can drag myself across the finish line with a partially finished draft of 50,001 words, I will be content.
