Hickory-Morganton Area NaNoers!

Well, I'm still around here. :-)

Hope life's been treating you well.

It is indeed. Got a life sometime during the year and am gonna have an interesting time keeping word goal around my birthday. I've got two dates in two days.

I know we have more people than just us 2.

Whelp, I'm over in Denver. Kinda stuck between you Hickory guys and Charlotte. ):

My mom and I got out of getting a ticket in Denver because we were from out of town.

Oh, come on. Didn't we have like eight or nine people last year?

We did for the first meet-up. Everyone kind of disappeared after that.

This is still only mid-October. People may not start filtering back to the NaNo site for another week or so.

DLDzioba - Yeah, not surprised you got out of the ticket, especially if you got pulled over by Lincoln County. I love those guys and all... but I know them a bit too well. They're so lazy sometimes. Lol. Good dudes though. Seriously. They look out for this li'l ol' gal who works at night by herself. (:

I still have no flippin' clue what I'm going to write about. And this icky yuck weather isn't helping.

Eh, I'm from the Conover-Hickory area and normally I'd be over there but, I'm in my first year of college so I'm all the way in TN. I've only met one other person at my college, a rather small one, that has done NaNo and he probably will not even do it this year.

Yeah, I remember you posting here last year.
It stinks you don't have a college area support group for the insanity.

Hello Everyone. Newbie here from Lenoir/Hudson NC. Good to see others from around me.

Charlotte and Greensboro are the closest “big” area for me too, but I’m in Advance, about half an hour on the other side of Statesville from Hickory and about an hour from either (north) Charlotte or Greensboro. But...what do you think about splitting the difference and doing something someplace in Statesville?

Seems like someone in Hickory said they had no car...could there be some kind of carpool set up?

I’m really having trouble keeping track of all the where’s and when’s. I don’t know Charlotte all that well and I'm not seeing much happening in Greensboro.

I'm a newbie in this area, too. Not sure I can do any meeting up during this. Trying to work, homeschool and write at the same time! I've discovered that it takes a pretty good bit to get that 1700 or so words per day down. Guess it'll vary from day to day depending on time available. I'm doing SciFi. What's everybody else doin?

Well I'm intending to run a few wordwars when we meet up. They can really help boost the word count. And remember, some days will be harder than others. I'm sure you're gonna have a blast though.

I'm not writing a novel, really. I'm a NaNo Rebel and I'm writing a personal Journal for NaNo. Today's wordcount actually includes 1k words of brainstorming a science fiction setting.

Newbie in Hickory/Conover area here, too. I've had a story developing in my head for more than 10 years now. I finally started actively writing about a year ago, but heard about NaNo and thought it just might be the push I need to really make some progress. With a full-time job and raising two kids on my own, making time to write is often my biggest challenge. Any suggestions and additional motivation is welcome!

I'm from the Lincolnton area, and I'm also doing sci-fi.

In addition, My entire class of creative writing high school students are also doing Nanowrimo! They are doing it through young writers project so some have much lower word counts, but a few are trying 50K.

Hope everyone's writing is going well. So, do we want to try to meet up a few times offline, or run this as an online group only? Last year, we met up in Hickory - sometimes at Barnes and Noble, sometimes at the IHOP. Opinions? Suggestions? Give a shout out...

Newbie here ... I'm in the Taylorsville/Hiddenite area. The trees are nice to look at but my laptop is more enticing. :D

I'm good either way. I don't have a car, but there's a couple other nano'ers in the family, so I can get where I need to be if we wanna meet up somewhere... :)
