Okay, usually we have this as close to the end of the month as possible. Halloween’s on a Saturday this year, and I know many people make plans for Halloween so unless there’s an overwhelming majority vote we can meet the week before. I’m not opposed to Halloween, by the way, in case you guys did want to do something. Just remember we will have our Midnight Chat on Halloween evening, and Daylight Savings Time happens on November 1st so we’ll even gain an hour!

So. When, where, what time?

Both Kathleen and I would like the Hallowe'en day, since people will be more ramped up to get writing.

Rhonda.

I have no H'ween plans, so I'd be up for having the NaNo party then.

What's the Midnight Chat?

*Re-crawls out of woodwork*

I love the idea of a kickoff on Halloween day. I'll be returning home to dress up the dog and distribute candy (coz that's how I roll!), but afternoon would be great. What are our options for location?

Well seems we do have some interest this year :) I don't know of any 24h places in the city, at least all ages and I'd like to keep our events that way. I like the idea of afternoons also, let's say between 2-5pm? That gives us about three hours of fun, and if anyone does have any evening plans they still want to commit to they can do so. What about William's on the Pier? That seemed to be a popular location last year.

djw and other newbies: our Midnight Chat is a chat we do online the night before NaNo. We have a chatroom everyone can join, we chat and get ramped up to write at the stroke of midnight. I think we'll even do a word war if there's interest!

Any chance we could jump the time back a bit, say, 1-4? The wee-est of the trick-o-treaters tend to come pretty early these days. If not, I'll just stop by for a bit.

1-4pm is also a good time.

If you're taking votes - I'd like to cast one in favor of the Halloween weekend.

Yeah, I think I like the idea of Halloween afternoon this year. 1-4 in the pm sounds good.

I'm not going to be available that day (I'm working... yes big update is I have a job this year) and when I get off at 6pm, I've got to take the kids trick or treating... so my Halloween is blocked. But at midnight I will be online and writing. I'll probably see you all online on the chat board.

Until then, take care...

All Hallows is fine with me . I am voting for 1 to 4 myself though most likely leaving around 3:30 pm so i am home in time to make sure evrything is go to take him out. I will have to be taking my son out trick or treating but I can get everything else ready the day before. And yes I will be online at Midnight to start writing.

A word war is a timed word count competition - you agree on writing for ten minutes, say, and compare counts at the end to see who won. We used to have a tradition of going around the circle before the war began to say what kind of scene we had to write for the war, which I think was a good one.

I'll be there, it'll be great seeing old friend and meeting new nano-ers!

We'll need to take over many tables at Williams, I think.

I shall attend.

Looks like 20-25 people. I'm wondering if Williams can accomodate or if we should be making reservations somewhere.
