And it begins. A good way to begins is finding out who and where we are.

Hi, I'm Sushi. People who don't know me as Sushi often call me Sujin. Call me either; I'll answer to either. I graduated from Agnes Scott in May with math and French majors and am still on the job prowl. (If anyone knows of someone who needs a number cruncher/writer/editor/social media maven/general savvy person in Atlanta, please let me know.) Currently I live in Stone Mountain near the Indian Creek MARTA station. No, I have not been to the park. This needs to change.

NaNo-related, I've participated in and completed every NaNo since 2002. In the Script Frenzy realm, I've completed every one since its inception.

Who are you? Don't be shy; we don't bite.

Howdy All-

I'm Tim, one of this year's co-MLs for Atlanta. I live out in Marietta. We've got some great ideas for this year - so stay tuned!

This is my, er, sixth try, and won every year but the first. I have a habit of setting a ridiculously high word count goal, and I also have a habit of refusing to do any planning whatsoever until one week to go. So I've got no clue what I'm going to write about this year, just as I like it :-D

I'm Ryan but most people just call me Celestial or Cel for short. I'm in East Point / College Park / ATL Airport area. This is my *counts on fingers* 4th year of Nanowrimo. Failed my first year but have won ever since. We'll see if I can keep up the winning streak AND edit a novel at the same time. Should be a hoot!

Amber here. This will be my 7th Nano, and hopefully my 4th win.

I moved to Atlanta (Buckhead/Brookhaven Area) almost 4 years ago, and I'm a webmaster for Turner Sports, with a major launch on Nov 16th, which is slightly terrifying when thinking of doing Nano while that's going on.

Hello all! Sam here, currently in Sandy Springs, but moving to Dawsonville in a couple of weeks. I won on my first try last year, then found all sorts of new ideas popping up and trying to push their way in during revision, so I am dedicating this year's Nano to completely rewriting last year's effort to make it even better. Not a revision, but a rewrite. Hopefully that's not cheating. :-) Should be a hoot!

I'm Hype. In the world I go by Lucy and you can call me either, or Lu, I don't really mind any of those. I graduated from Georgia Southern last December with a BFA in Art, the concentration being Graphic Design. Three days ago I was frustrated with not being able to find work and finally gave in to the decision to start at The Creative Circus in January...except they wanted me to start earlier, so now I'm starting this coming Monday. Eeek!

Right now I live in Lawrenceville, though I may be making the move soon down to Buckhead to be closer to school, if I have the money. This will be my sixth year participating in NaNo, and hopefully my third consecutive win.

HI my name is Diane and I considered myself the queen. I attended Clayton State and Atlanta College of Art. I thoroughly believe in the statement of Maya Angelou "There is nothing worse than a story that is inside you waiting to be told" Last year was my first year of Nano and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was determined to win and I did.

My husband and I are in the middle of house hunting, so this is going to be interesting if November is our closing month. Are there in kickoffs in south of the city?

I will win again.
Please remember to donate!!!

I am blond, English, Scot/Irish, Dutch and German heritage. Dad from Minnnesota, Mom from Alabama. I live in Hiram, GA. This is the 24th place I have lived. No kids with hubby, one 13 year old lab dog. Majored in English, minored in French, almost had 5 minors. I have a master's degree in divinity, and I manage a non-profit. I have been to Stone Mountain, and I love MARTA, except at 11 pm at night by myself when there are shady characters on, and yes, I used to go at night on MARTA. I wrote Murder On The Silver Comet Trail for NANOWRIMO in 2004, and then a murder happened a mile from where I imagined it for the book. The book was geared to prevention, but even now that it is published, people are still going it alone on the trail. I play an autoharp, and if you get a chance Google Marc Gunn on Youtube.

I'm Paul and I live in Marietta, work in Smyrna as tech support and this will be my first ever NaNoWriMo. Trying to spread around the knowledge that I'm involved so that I've got a lot of people aware I'm trying this to keep myself encouraged. Planning to write a Sci-Fi/Fantasy novel in a world I created for my D&D games, we'll see how that goes.

Hi, I'm Celaine, or Tia (I respond to both, but Tia is easier and shorter to spell) and I'm the ML who is not a ninja and holycrap our pictures are up there ._.; The picture is, I confess, from my wild and crazy days of T-shirt ninja-ing in college. I'm currently 26, live at the northern end of the Atlanta sprawl, Gainesville (aka BFE, georgia) and I work in the mortgage business. What a GREAT place to be right now! :D I'm also an unashamed dork, quite possibly evil, flunked out of computer science at Tech (went on to Japanese) and have a horrid sense of humor that you all will be exposed to for an entire month. Mwahaha.

Nanowise, I've been doing this every year since 2004, and I've run a smaller group in January since 2006, and won every one. This year I'm trying to kill myself with a hairy, audacious goal of 200k on four novels at the same time. If I still have a pulse by December 1, I am never doing THAT again.

----------

Goal: 200k 260k. My wordcount was going to be an average, but we need to beat the pants off Denver, right?

Hi I'm in Marietta. I graduated from UGA in May with a fairly useless degree. Now I'm unemployed, living with my parents, and sleeping around 10 hours every night. Luckily this lifestyle goes great with my favorite jammie pants.

Since I'd never heard of Nanowrimo until just now, this will be my first year. I think the longest thing I've ever written was a sticker book about dinosaurs when I was five, so I'm very confident that I will win.

Hi everyone, I’m Selwyn. In real life, I go by Stephanie. I’m currently a senior at Georgia State, but won’t be graduating for at least another year or so (transferred there from Agnes Scott, so the credit thing got all screwy), majoring in International Affairs. I currently live in Decatur (not far from Avondale MARTA station).
NaNowise, this will be my 3rd year and I’ve won every year since I’ve started. I hope to be able to get through it this year with my sanity relatively intact because even though I have just four classes, I’ve got a bunch of reading, online work, tests/quizzes, homework, and two research papers to work on during November (both are due 12/2, one being 10-15 pages, the other is unknown at the moment). Despite all of this, I am really looking forward to NaNo this year!

Hello all!

I'm Erin, a Junior in High School currently living in Lawrenceville. This will be my third year participating in NaNo and hopefully my second win. I'm obsessively in love with the Latin language, and on top of writing my novel this year [though I'm considering doing two simultaneously] I'll be trying to pull up m grade in AP Physics and head up the Certamen [Latin version of Quiz Bowl] team at my school. Oh and my fellow NaNoBuddy Claritastic and I are taking our school by storm and telling as many Language Arts teachers as possible about NaNo in an attempt to get more teens in our school/area writing. Huzzah for challenges!

Hi, Roulette here. I am a suburbanite from Lawrenceville. I participated in Nanowrimo in 2007 and 2008 and won both times. I am ready for my third win. And this one will be the most challenging cause I have no idea what I am writing about yet.

This year, I am considering the real life calamities of the team of women I work with who do faux painting and murals around Atlanta and throughout the southeast. This stuff you just can't make up! Now the challenge will be to see if I can translate it to be paper.

Hoping I actually made one of the write ins downtown cause I've been too panicked about writing to take the time to get down there!

Cheers!

Hi folks, my name is Jeremy, online and in real life. I'm a science/tech writer from the DC area, moved down to Atlanta about a year and a half ago for work. I was a biology/prof writing major in school and wrote a science blog on mostly ecology for about two years. I've recently gotten myself settled into my new home and have picked up the creative works that have been gathering dust for a year or so to rework and try to complete one or two this fall. Nano sounds like a great way to focus my efforts and to meet some new friends with similar interests in the area.

Hey everyone! I'm Stormy, and I live in Buford. I'm currently an unemployed high-school grad, but hopefully not for long. This is only my second year doing NaNo, and hopefully, my first year winning. I have fun writing, but my two main problems are motivation and length. I see NaNo as a way to help improve those faults, as well as have fun! Most of what I write is either sci-fi or fantasy, and fanfiction, but I'm going to do some original work this year. I'm fairly confident about this year, and I hope everyone has a good time!

Hello, I'm Rachael. I live in Alpharetta. I'm a behavior analyst working with kids with autism (when I'm not writing of course). This is my... fourth time attempting NaNo. I won my first year and have not won since! I'm hoping this year will change that since I am not in school and actually have a plot instead of part of one. ^_^ Hopefully I'll be able to make a write-in one day. I have not been very successful in meeting people here in ATL since I got out of grad school and I am hoping to change that.

^_^ Nice to meet you all

Hey everyone. I'm Lauren / Laurie -- call me either! I would tell you to call me Satori too, but I don't feel nearly spiritual or enlightened enough to merit the name. :) I live in Brookwood (a small patch of sanity -- and daily train whistles -- between Buckhead and Midtown) with my husband and our crazy dog.

I've done NaNo every year since 2001 and have won five of those years. This year I'll be here strictly in NaNo Rebel capacity -- I'm doing rewrites and revisions on a novel I hope to send out to agents early next year. It was my '07 NaNo project. I've already rewritten it once, and toward the end of that rewrite I realized it was not strictly a realistic / contemporary novel, but rather a magic realism novel. Oops! It's a YA novel about two girls and a goblin.

By day I am a project manager at an applied linguistics organization. It suits me well. I treat writing as my second job and write and / or revise my fiction nearly every day, November or not. I go to a lot of writing groups, workshops, conferences, and things of that sort -- both in Atlanta and not -- so if anyone's interested in other places for writers to meet once November is over, let me know here on the board or on NaNo Mail.

Hi, all. I'm Will. Last year was my first time doing this. I won, but I still haven't been able to make myself go back and edit/rewrite the damned thing. By day, I'm in product marketing for a corporate travel agency. I live in Midtown, so by night, I'm usually hanging out at the Independent or Smith's. Baseball season's almost over and the Bulldogs aren't having a very good season, so I should be able to focus on this again this year.

I'm Julie ... third time doing NaNoWriMo. Won in '07, fell short in '08, ready for '09.

I live in the Chastain Park area / work in Buckhead. I am in advertising & marketing ... and right now might very well be the perfect time (at least in my industry) to pump out that novel. When life gives you a recession, write a novel.

No no, my topic is not about hard times and how advertisers are cutting marketing dollars ... I am going for the fantastical children's story this time 'round and attempt to live in my "happy place" for the entire month of November.

I'm Janet and I live in Cabbagetown. This is my third NaNoWriMo but I don't really count the first one because I didn't write a single word! Last year, I wrote about 25,000 words, which was quite an accomplishment considering some yucky personal stuff was going on at the same time, and I'm really proud of the quality of last year's writing. I write young adult stories, the boring kind: no vampires, zombies or princesses. I'm really looking forward to this year's NaNoWriMo and meeting you all, especially fellow East Atlantans!

I'm Heather, also known as Klepto. XD I'm not a kleptomaniac, but my online name has been Kleptomaniac Can Opener for 12 years now. I'm 26 and am an animation major at the Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur in downtown Decatur (right next to the Decatur Marta station). I live in the Peachtree Corners/Holcomb Bridge area of Norcross (towards Roswell) and a stone's throw from the Doraville Marta station.

I've participated in NaNo every year since 2006 and I'm proud to say I've hit over 50k each time. :) I haven't a clue what I'm writing this year though. XD
2006 was a fan novel crossing Fullmetal Alchemist with SG-1. (Incomplete)
2007 was an original fan novel, my own Gundam series I call Mobile Suit Gundam: Consequences. (Incomplete)
2008 was an original story called Siren. (Incomplete)

Maybe I'll do another original this year, or maybe I'll tag on another 50k to one of the previously mentioned since it's going to take about that much in the least to finished them. It'll depend what I feel inspired to do by November 1st. XD

Hello, friends!

I'm Dagny. I live in the old 4th ward, and work at an art studio in midtown. I didn't meet any of you last year because i never seemed to be awake during write ins...

Last year was my first year, and i made it to almost 19,000 words before my story fell apart. It was quite a learning experience, and this year i am better prepared to kick 50,000's TEETH IN! YEAH! LET'S DO THIS THING!

I'm Melissa, but my family and close friends call me lali. It's also become a bit of an internet persona, because most places melissahyde is taken but lalihyde is not. :)

I'm a freshman at GA Tech and I love to write... oh, and i'm not even remotely an engineer. :) I'm really really excited about NaNo. it's my first year. A bunch of my friends back home are doing it, so I'll probably be splitting weekends between there and here. :D yay. Can't wait.

Hi everyone! I'm in Dacula--which is between Lawrenceville and Athens. I'm a first time NaNo writer...and I'm trying to finish my first novel by November 1 as a warm up. I plan to write the sequel on here. Before May of this year, I'd never written more than, well, papers for school. And they were technical papers. But an idea took hold of me and wouldn't let go during Memorial Day Weekend and I wrote a third of it before real life interrupted. I'm on Authonomy.com and have learned a lot and I really want to try to do this. I work part time from home, am in the middle of my dissertation, and I'm married with two children under the age of 5. But I still feel this need to write (because, hey, I didn't have *enough* going on in my life). So here I am.

I can't wait for this to start! Add me to your buddies list and keep me honest! *grin*

Hi everyone.
I'm Nikole, though most people call me Nik. Online people just call me Onyx. I've been living here in Lawrenceville for 4 years. My husband and I moved up here after Katrina to be closer to his family. This is my 4th year participating in NaNo, though honestly my first year was a bit of a total bust, still have to count it :-)
Thankfully my job is pretty quiet through November {most of the time}, so I have time to write during my 12 hour shifts. Well, when my boss isn't walking through that is ;-)
