Redmond Panera Write In / Talk Out Group
Hello and welcome my fellow insanely driven writers!
Last year we had a great group meeting at Panera off of Redmond Way in Redmond. There was lots of laughter and some excellent stories were produced. This year we'd like to see some more faces. So if you're looking for a place to do Write-Ins, Talk-Outs, or just to take a break and leave your house for a few minutes with others who understand....please join us!
Where:
Redmond Panera
17262 Redmond Way
Redmond, WA 98052
When:
Right now the dates are TBD. I will say that we are tentatively leaning towards tuesday, thursday and friday evenings. I will decide on a regular schedule no later than one week before kickoff. (Knowing that I don't like to wait until the last minute, you'll probably get a firm answer by the middle of the month)
I'm going set up a meet up before November first so that we can introduce ourselves, at least once a week during November, and then an after celebration the first week in December.
Panera usually has more than enough outlets in a given area but i will be providing at least one outlet strip at each meeting just in case. They also have free internet. So feel free to bring your laptop if you have one. Frequently we do a talk out before we start writing to help each other around various road-blocks.
As always, there will be toy ducks on the table so we should be easy to spot. Mine light up as do several of the previous group's whom I hope to see return.
I look forward to seeing you and good luck in NaNo 2009
Warmest regards,
Anne Florio

I'm excited! This is my second year but I didn't win last year, so I am stoked! Can't decide yet if I should work on one of my new ideas or rewrite last years, which I lost to a computer crash.

Panera is a good place, I hope I can join in when the write in is setup.
I'll have to look into the meetup as well, it would be nice to hang out with other authors.

Redmond Panera
PRE NANO MEET UPs.
Where:
Redmond Panera
17262 Redmond Way
Redmond, WA 98052
When:
Tuesday October 27th at 6:30pm - 8:30pm
and/or
Thursday October 29th at 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Objective:
To meet up with some of the rest of us crazy people who joined or returned to NaNoWriMo this year. Feel free to attend one or both of the meet ups.
These meetings will be social so it's not recommended to bring your laptop. It's a chance for everyone to get to know each other as well as the stories currently percolating in our heads. You may want to bring some scrap paper and a pen so you can write down usernames if you so choose.
Since Panera has graciously allowed us to use their facilities, may I point out that they have a great variety of delicious food, snacks, breads and drinks for sale should you arrive hungry or thirsty. :-)
How will you find us?
Just look for the rubber ducks. I have 4 which light up. And I will be making sure they are visible. Feel free to bring your own as well. If all else fails, I have a bright red trench coat which is rather hard to miss. I will be arriving early and staying late for both meet ups. Please feel free to come say hi to me, I promise I don't bite.
Looking forward to seeing you!

I'll probably be at the Thursday pre Nano meet up at Panera. I'm pretty easy to spot. I usually wear a hat, but if I'm not, I have a shaved head with a bald spot on top (from radiation) and I walk with a bit of a limp. Thanks Anne for setting up the pre party, I'm hoping it will easy my nerves a bit! See you Oct. 29!

Is there an Eastside Writers calendar? I'm new to the area from Austin, TX, and our Austin group had a Yahoo Groups email with calendar. It was really handy!
I hope there will be something similar to my favorite events... the Midnight Write on Oct 31st, and the All Night Write! (NaNoers get mighty interesting at 4 o'clock in the morning!)

Welcome to the Pacific Northwet, Leigh! I can't respond to the question about the calendar for just the eastside, but there is an events calendar linked at the top level of our forums that will be filled out with important dates during Nano and even beyond for the whole region. There will be write-ins a-plenty, and if you've got an idea for holding an all-nighter, just find a place and announce it. We're that formal here.
I'd like to make sure you are invited to the HalloNaNoWeen write-in at Denny's Overlake, midnight on Halloween. We have a great time, lots of prizes for the first thousand words, and an opportunity to meet some of your fellow-writers in the area. There is a thread with that title here on the forum it has a link to maps and details. Hope you'll join us.

I'll keep this link updated. http://groups.google.com/group/nanowrimo-redmond-panera/web/calendar-200...
Please join! it will send you email updates as I update them so you don't have to keep finding the link.
This will show a calendar for when meets are.

Thursday October 29: Pre NaNo Meet Up 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Also, I need some feedback for Redmond Panera
----------What days are you most interested in coming for a weekly write-in during NaNo? I know everyone will be busy writing and doing their normal day-to-day activities, so please give me your top two days you'd like to come so we can get the most people involved as possible.

I don't see these events up on the Seattle Region calendar.
Also I wanted to host an "Eastside Drunken Write-in" this year. Maybe on the 12th.
I would love to have a co-host because I don't really know what to do.
I would have it at Black Raven Brewery in Redmond http://www.blackravenbrewing.com/
They have a large back room (the actual brewery) with a lot of seating and good lighting that could accommodate 20+.
Let me know if you're interested in helping out!

Hi all,
I'm shy and busy so I didn't go to any meetups last year. I'm trying to get over those issues this year and I hope to see some of you soon. :)
I have a class on Wednesday nights, but maybe I'll skip one or two and make it to the Panera meetup. I only live 5 minutes away!

I'll definitely be there on Wednesdays! With my friend (who isn't participating in WriMo, but will hang and write during write-ins). We'll probably be there around 6-ish, since that's when she gets off.
Also, if we get enough people, should we try and see if we could get the private room? That way it'd be easier to find each other?

Redmond Panera has a general rule of only 2 hours in the private room. I'm currently in negotiations with the owner to see if they can bend the rules some for us depending on how many show up. As it is, we may be able to sit in the private room, but need to have the doors open and stay a bit quieter for the rest of the dining area in case they need the space. I will keep everyone updated on that status.
I'm taking Friday's off of work in November. Is anyone interested in doing write ins on Friday evenings?? 6-9? If people are interested...I'll host!

Hey there! This is my first year doing this, and I was surprised not to find the Eastside as its own region. As a result, I'm very glad to see this post.
As a complete ignoramus about what i've signed up for: what are write-ins, and how do fellow NaNovWriMoers help each other??
Hope to make one of the two get-togethers next week!
