Hi, I am co-ML with vortexae this year, and I want to say hello and WELCOME to NaNoWriMo 2009! Welcome back to those returning WriMos who loved their NaNoWriMo experiences in previous years so much they are back, and to those WriMos signing up for the first time, welcome to a great new adventure in writing.

This is my 7th NaNoWriMo in a row and I don't know what my novel is about yet this year! I have drafted novels in several generes: sf, mainstream, feminist fantasy, young adult, historical fiction. What shall I write this year? Help!

Feel free to reply to this post and say "hi," and anything else you want to tell us about yourself.

Hi! I'm a high school student doing NaNo this year as a part of my senior project required to graduate--and I'm really excited! All the hours I spend slaving over NaNo I can get high school credit for! Er....otherwise, my first year was last year, and I made the 50,000--so I hope to keep up the trend!

This is officially my fifth year, but unofficially my sixth (I didn't have a computer to sign up that first year, so I went ahead and wrote anyway). I'm a single mother working two jobs, but I did managed to get all of my writing done on weekends last year--all 60k+ words of it--so I'm sure I can do it this year. This year's complication? I was foolish enough to allow my son a World of Warcraft membership and now I have to fight for my computer. I've been story planning for five months now, so the only thing holding me back is the date.

Hello, Kelli and Amber. Sounds like you are two of the veterans of NaNo success! Glad you are participating again this year. Kelli, I admire you for having your novel all planned and ready for Nov 1!

Hi everyone! I'm not new to Nano (though I've never won), but I am new to the Boulder region. I'm a CU student, and super excited for something to do in my spare time! (I have a lot of spare time). I'm also planning to attend at least one write-in this year, if I can find one not too far away and at the right time. I'm looking forward to that as well.

Hi everyone! I'm Kate, a student at CU, and I'm completely new to this. My sister, the other writer of our family, suggested that I participate, and I'm really excited to do so. I'm interested in writing in the fantasy or comedy genres, but as of yet I am completely unsure what I want to write about. Any advice?

Hi all! I'm Niki, your other ML. I want to give Ellen a hearty welcome and a thank you - she's been acting as our unofficial Longmont point-of-contact for years, and I'm so pleased to have her on-board as an official ML with all the superpowers and artillery that comes with. Thanks to her also for officially kicking off the forum party!

I'm based in north-east Boulder, and my favorite neighborhood writing location is the Pekoe Sip House location that used to be Joe's Espresso in Steelyards. You can sometimes find me there. My husband John sometimes participates in NaNoWriMo, and I wouldn't be surprised if he joined us at a write-in or two.

I typically write somewhere in the fantasy/horror spectrum. I usually have several stories in the back of my head waiting to get Nano'd; this year it's looking like I'll finally write that haunted castle story inspired by Tori Amos's song "Toast".

Looking forward to meeting new participants and reuniting with old friends!

Hello All,
I did participate in nanowrimo last year but didn't win. And honestly, I don't know how very far I will get this year. I am an MFA - Creative Writing student at Naropa and in my thesis semester. I own an online editing business at www.editboulder.com. I am also a high school English teacher. I am not new to writing in this length, but the thesis will take precedence and I will *try* to do it all but will not be too hard on myself if this year's novel gets pushed back. It is always wonderful to have the support of other writers. I would love to join a write-in or two during the month, perhaps just as a break from the thesis! I am still thinking of plots and themes and characters (oh my!) but will probably continue the same series of books that I planned out last year. If I stick to that series, I should have a good 10 years of nanowrimo planned! So, in advance, I want to thank everyone for their support and advice during the month.
Oh! I live at 30th & Glenwood in Boulder so if anyone happens to want to meet up at Vic's at any point, I can walk there if I am free!

Hi, I'm Mongoose, glad to be back in Boulder this year. Some of you will remember me from two years ago, for those new people, I look forward to meeting you at the write-ins

This will be my fourth Nano and along with school and a full-time job I shall be attempting to rewrite E.P.I.C., my first nano. I've been doing prep work for about a year and a half now and I'm excited to get started.

Mongoose is back! Woot!

Kelly, we're practically neighbors! Although I tend to prefer to walk down to Steelyards and write at Pekoes-used-to-been-Joe's, I'd totally be up for meeting at Vic's sometime too. Give us a shout-out when you're gonna be there and would welcome company?

i have no plan, or idea, or anything this year, so thats gonna be interesting, usualy i have some idea by now....

but, none the less, i'm REALLY hyped about this year's NaNo, and cant wait to get started!

Hey all, this is actually my first year with NaNo, largely owing to the fact that I'm more of an artist than a writer. My sister's been doing it for two years, which pretty much made me want to as well, having no shortage of ideas to use. I'm still pretty new to Colorado (you'd think by a year I'd know my way around, but sadly I don't get out much...). I'd really like to try attending some write-ins, preferably what Niwot happens to be closest to.

(sorry in advance if what I wrote didn't connect very well... I'm pretty sure my brain's gone into shock hibernation with the weather.)

I'm a CU student also, but partook in NaNo just down the street at Fairview for the past 2 years as well.

I'm looking forward to starting this all. November can't come fast enough!

I realized that I missed this the other day. I'm Alex, and I've been active in the past, though I ended up starting a job on night shift right before NaNo last year and not being active in the community as I participated. Once upon a time, I served as a co-ML, but that was a while ago. I'm looking forward to reconnecting to the other NaNos again, and hopefully making some Boulder Events this year.

However, it'll be interesting, because next week, I end up working second shift, making my evenings non-existent for the foreseeable future.

Hey everyone, I'm Jason... I'm not sure if I should be in the Boulder group since I live in Thornton, but I went to college at CU, and find that it's about the same distance (if not closer) than most of the meets in Denver and I love the city of Boulder. This will be my second nano in three years, and my first one back in Colorado so I'm looking forward to it. The last one I did in South Korea, and it was fun, but I think it'll be great to meet new people here, the camaraderie of other authors is quite inspiring to me. Good luck everyone :)

This is the first year I've decided to sit down and try NaNo. I'm currently a senior at CU (yay). I'm really just excited to start--because it sounds more fun than writing papers. Also, it's just one of those things I've always wanted to try.

So here's to November.

Oh good! I'm not the only one in suburbia. I'm in Arvada so it was hard to choose between the Denver group and the Boulder group. Traffic is better going to Boulder (oh, let's face it, I take any excuse to go to Boulder).

This is my first NaNo. I wrote my first novel this past year... most of it within a one month period and it was 114,000 words. So I thought I'd see if I could write the sequel this month. Just starting to look for an agent -- fingers crossed.

I write Urban Fantasy, which is almost too hot right now. I've read it for years and now wish that I'd written something sooner. Ah well, better late than never.

Looking forward to meeting other people who are passionate about books, writing and all things literature! Let's inspire each other!

Hey everyone! I'm Meri, a senior as Niwot HS, although 50% of the time I reside in North Boulder. This is my 3rd year of nano and I am pumped! This year, I hope to recruit some of my friends in this event with me and actually see them finish. :) I have had a lot of different ideas for my novel this year, and I've been pondering which to use ever since last December, but I think I will be writing a sci-fi novel once again, this time being a sort of autobiographical account of my high school experience....but much...weirder. I'm aiming for a Kurt Vonnegut type story, if that helps you understand.

I also hope to maybe actually meet some fellow nanoers this year, as I have never gone to a single write in. I guess there's a first time for everything?

This year I will be juggling a part time job, college applications, and working on my portfolio for art school, so I have to work extra hard. Oh well, it'll be more fun that way.

Huzzah for representing NaNo suburbia!

I'm in Broomfield and agree that the drive to Boulder is better than the drive to Denver. Third time with NaNo but only my second year writing in Colorado.

On the forums I'm something of a recluse, but I do enjoy write-ins. Last two novels made word count but didn't actually end. So yes. Cheers to caffeine-fueled inspiration!

Greetings! I'm Dogson.

I've done Nano since 2003, my first time in Boulder, then across the US and Asia as I traveled the world.
Last year I wrote two novels in November, Cockfighter's Ghost, a crazy anti-novel sprawling into the 11th dimension (I'm just finishing up a sequel) and the other was a prototype of the Big Novel I've been putting off writing for almost ten years. I'm finally diving in with it this year, having an enormous amount of free time available to me.

I'm an undergrad writing student at Naropa (I live very close to the Arapahoe campus) and I'll definitely be prowling the write-ins, holding a few of my own and trying to connect to as many writers as possible. My interests range from everything from graphic design to taoism and yoga, and I have a lot of satellite social groups but NONE involving writers! Which is sad! I want some partners in crime who are obsessed with the craft of writing, and who will conspire with me on outlandish plots, fantasy worlds, poetic ways to reinvent reality and people who are just downright horny for words. Rawr. I love Nano ^_^

Hello all~!

This will be my fourth NaNo, and my first in this region. I used to be in the Grand Rapids, Michigan region. Bit of a difference, let me tell you.

Last year was a bust as I, ashamedly, forgot about it in the chaos of new friends, holiday retail work, and a new boyfriend. XD It was the three years previous to that I participated, and I 'won' NaNo in 2007. I have no idea how good I'm going to do this year, considering I barely have an idea, but I figured I needed to kick my muse into action SOMEHOW, and what better way than this?

I actually live in the little town of Erie! The likelihood of me making any write-ins during the month is slim, unless I decide to have my own in the very close local library, but I have a feeling I'd be all on my own. Though, the offer is open to anyone in the area. I have a... very open schedule (read: I am unemployed and not in school) and am most amiable to afternoons/evenings.

I will be turning 24 during the course of this NaNo, as my birthday is the 16th. Yay? XD

So, er, yes! Nice to meet you all~!

Hooray!!! Erie!!! :)

I'll be dividing my time this month pretty equally between Greeley and Erie, so if you want to coordinate at the Erie library sometime, that is a distinct possibility. I'm also unemployed and not in school, but I do have access to a car if you feel like trying to make something in the Boulder/Longmont area, as well. Happy birthday in advance, by the way!

I actually live in Montana, but I'm down in Colorado for the foreseeable future, mooching off relatives while getting some much-needed chiropractic treatment. :P Hoping to make as many random write-ins as possible in different places and meet a good cross section of crazy writers in the area.

That being said, greetings to all, and happy noveling!

Hi everybody!
I just discovered the Nano thing so I am a total newbie. I am thrilled to have some motivation to start and hopefully finish my first novel. I live in Superior, close to Boulder but I do not have a laptop so I guess I will just have to come in a write hard copy!!!
I am looking forward to meeting everyone!

Fairview!! I'm one of those dreaded IB kids....Getting up early to write is definitely not going to work at all....I tried and failed the last year, but I'm *sure* it's a try and succeed this year.

I'm up in Longmont, and I live rather close to what-was-formerly-known-as-Deja-Brew (they changed their name, right? I've never been there). Possibly I'll be able to pop in. :)

Hi!

I'm SlyCrow, and this is my 7th year doing NaNoWriMo. I haven't reached 50,000 words yet, but each year I get more written than I would write without it. I will also be doing a "finish the basement" challenge this month, and the beginning of December, so not quite every waking moment will be spent writing, but I hope to see many of you at whatever write-ins I make it to.
