Edinburg, myself.

It's a shame we don't have an ML here in the Valley, in the PSJA/McAllen area.

At the risk of sounding like a noob, what's an ML?

An ML is the person who plans events for a region and does that kind of stuff. Write ins and pre-NaNo parties.

I think that's the best nutshell explanation I can get out. :)

I just moved away to college, but I'm also from San Benito. It's nice to see so many people from the valley doing nano this year :)

Seventh year for me and third or fourth for my husband--we're both in Harlingen.

Yanno, I'm sure if someone wanted to be ML, we could "apply" to separate out and become our own region.

Well, my studies have me slammed this semester, but even if no one wants to ML, we could still have meetups :). I know I'd love to see how other people's nanos are going - it always makes me want to write when others do.

LOL, is that why it got so quiet?

Meet-ups sound like a great idea. How about a kick-off meet-up on Oct 31st?

Oh, that sounds awesome :). I know I can badger Keiko46 into it, since it's a Saturday. Maybe one of the Barnes & Nobles' in McAllen, or a coffee place somewhere?

Can't meet on the 31st. Sorry. The 4 year-old grand-niece (my sister's granddaughter) made my husband promise to go to their house on Halloween for "twicky-tweet." Since they live in Corpus, that's where we'll be.

Hopefully, the group will meet again and I can join in.

Waving back to chickenlady!

Sorry to miss you, Betty! Hopefully we'll have more opportunities for getting together.

Yes, you probably can figure on my husband joining us--pretty sure he is girding up his loins for another round of Nano.

It's possible we could get the community coordinator at B&N to make our meet-up an actual event and give us support, like free coffee (!), but will need to check on that.

I'm from Harlingen. I'm such a newbie. This isn't the first time I've publicly allowed my writing to be seen but it's definitely the first time I've felt so exposed. I feel kind of dangerous. *\^_^/*

aww, exposed and dangerous what you mean?
I personaly don't plan on anyone seeing my stuff (other than schweinsty, but we've known eachother since junior high) when I upload for the word count I plan on scrambling mine. Though I do love to mull over outlines and plots with anyone who is nuts as I am, which seams to fit anyone who signed up for nano XD

I'm not completely sure of my work schedule, but I'd love to meet up! :D Either B&N is fine with me.

I just moved to this area from Wash. DC, so I'm excited to meet other writers here!

I think the one on Ware has a bit more elbow space, especially in the cafe.

Is sometime in the evening good for all of you - say 6/7?

Is that the one in Palm's Crossing shopping center? 7 is better for me, but 6 is okay too. :)

I've never been to a kickoff meeting before, so is there an agenda other than being able to meet face to face and get excited about NaNo and encourage each other? Do we need to bring laptops this time or anything?

Looking forward to it! <3
