Ok, so my previous post keeps telling me I'm not authorized to access it....and I wrote it. :S Go figure.
Anyhoo, in case nobody else could access it either, my question was: Is Monroeville included in with Pittsburgh or is it a part of the "other" category?

I kept trying to read it, but I was also unauthorized to view it! For whatever reason, I'm always glad when things don't work quite right at the beginning of October and November, makes me feel home.
Anyway...Monroeville is in with Pittsburgh. Last year, there were two events every week, and they rotated between (if I remember correctly) Monroeville, South Hills and Cranberry, Oakland and Downtown. We had a small group each time at Borders, I thought it was successful.

Seems as if Fox included Monroeville in, so I am guessing it is good to go for a meet up area, not sure where, but yeah, it is clumped in there.

Oh good! I'm unaccustomed to being a part of an actual section of a state, I'm usually in the "other" category. So that's exciting. Hope I'll get to go to a write in or two, last year I wasn't near anybody or any write ins and I missed them.

There were some meet-ups in monroeville last year, like in the bookstore. They kinda all died (like noone got together due to lack of organization... we fail!) but they did almost exist. I'd be up for monroeville meets this year as long as they don't run too late (gotta catch a bus back to oakland when they're done) if anyone is interested in meeting there.

I'd love a Monroeville meet-up. It would be easier for me to make it out there than Pgh. There's a Panera Bread at Penn Center on Business 22, and it shouldn't be too hard to get the back room for a Write-In/Kick-off on Sunday, November 1.
(In the afternoon/evening and not too late -- between working and going to school I turn into a pumpkin by 10 p.m.)
Are there enough people in the area who are interested?
If so, I'd be happy to see about getting the space reserved.
Ah, and to join the plot-sharing:
I've been in the woman-discovers-inner-strength-after-being-wronged-by-someone-who-is-inherently-evil mode as of late and am getting a bit bored with it. I've been toying with a romantic suspense story as of late but haven't quite figured out much. I know that the protagonist and her love interest work hard to not admit their attraction to each other, I know there's a few homicides involved, and I know that she saves her own life in the end. The only scene that's clear is where the antognist has her in the woods and is mocking her for being so foolish as to think that he was on her side.
That's about it... but, then again, it's only October 16th! :)

Well that's about three people so far for sure that would be willing to meet in Monroeville, that's a "group" :) I know where that Panera is that BethAbernathy is talking about so I won't get lost, also good. You think they would let us start at midnight or would we have to do it later in the day, y'think?
There's always Dennys if we got desperate for an absolute starting-at-midnight kickoff....we probably wouldn't have plugs for laptops but it would be open that late.

I think it's awesome people want to plan this in the monroeville area ... haha me and my friend Tianna (i'm from monroeville and she's from pitcairn) plan to join this year and that would be awesome if people were planning a big kick off session we would love to attend just the small fact of not having a lap top to be mobile :/ but i mean we could always kick it old style and bring notebooks haha but i don't know we would love to attend we just gotta find out how we are going to be writting away from our desktops haha

Ok.....
I'm half considering Fox's offer to be the organizer person for Monroeville....which is crazy cause I've never done it before. :S
But I'd only be able to do weekends since I work the rest of the week. So I wanted to ask here, would weekend write-ins work for everyone? Saturdays and/or Sundays?

Just letting you know, I work at a Panera, and they are not open for business at midnight. Not that I know of anyway. The one I work at closes at 10 on weekends. Make sure to check out their closing time!

For those with the energy to do a midnight kick-off, I bow to your stamina and will be there in spirit! But with a child and trick-or-treating, midnight is pumpkin time for me.
Weekend write-ins are great for me so long as they're daylight!

I would love a Monroeville group as I live nearby in forest hills and hate the pittsburgh/oakland commute. I am also availible daytime on the weekends. Keep me posted.

Hi there are four of us doing Nano this year at our house...with one computer. It's a challenge, but we love going to meetings in the Monroeville area since I hate to even think about driving downtown. Hope we can get together sometime soon!

Count me among those interested in meeting up in Monroeville. I live in Verona/Plum, and Monroeville would be so much easier for me than Oakland. I'm available weeknights, although not too late since I have a job I have to get up for, daylight Saturdays (except on the afternoons when my writing group meets) and Sundays.

If panera on Sunday is happening I can probably get there. Sunday is like my only day off and I'd love to get together with other wrimos! Just let me know, I'm coming from greensburg so a bit of notice would be great

After reading everyone's comments, by golly, Panera sounds good! I'll get up there today and see about snagging the back room. Even if it's only two or three of us, it's a start!
Watch this space for details later today....

Gotta be honest, Panera (with its earlier closing time) probably isn't the best idea on Halloween. I don't know about everyone else, but most people are going to be dealing with younger siblings or partying on Halloween, and for the party crowd, it's just getting started at 10pm (which is when Panera closes). Couldn't a write-in on November 1st work better? Denny's is open 24 hours a day, and even if there aren't a zillion plugs, people could bring notebooks and the like. I probably work on Sunday, but depending on the times we figured out, I'm sure we could get more people together on a Sunday than a Saturday, anyway.

Hello. I'm in the Plum / Holiday Park area and this is my second year participating in Nanowrimo. Last year I did not attend any write-ins but this year, I would like that to change, as I'm interested in getting to know other writing enthusiasts in the area. My availability can be somewhat limited because I have three little ones to care for, but I'm going to try to make an appearance.
I agree with the person who mentioned Denny's. Anywhere that is open 24 hours is probably a better option. Anywhere that doesn't mean people hanging out for extended period is even better.

For those who can make it, I reserved the back room at the Panera in Penn Center (on Bus. 22 across from the long-closed Showcase East) from 1:30 to about 3:30 on Nov 1.

Here at Panera! Look for the girl with dark hair, brown Nanowrimo Author shirt, laptop, and Twizzlers. :)
EDIT: Hmmm....nobody here yet except me....did people forget about setting clocks back?
----------EDIT #2: Scratch that, unfortunately I'm at the wrong Panera. On the upside, did find a fellow nano-er by accident.

Sorry I missed out, guys, I'll try to make another one sometime this month. I was fortunately running late, so I was present for an emergency at home.
