Hello, fellow L'Escale NaNoers!
It is the time of the year again. The debut of October is upon us. It lurked around the corner until it finally sprung up and scared us all out of our wits. It is, after all, the time when we realize that the dreaded time of year is here. So, my dearest masochists, are you all ready to live yet another month of awesome literary prowess? Another sleepless thirty days? More write-ins? More “hell-this-was-fun-so-let’s-do-it-again-next-year-once-our-brains-have-returned-to-their-normal-states!”?
Then let’s go, everyone!
Most of you are still in high school, so you’ll have to keep me updated as to when I can lurk around the school at night and “get a flat tire and have to stay in” or something. I’ll have Jazzy ready too, in case someone’s parents get a case of the “I can’t drive you there!” or your Wii decides to be heavy that day...
... That’s pretty much all I had to say actually. Aside from that, I really hope to compete again this year! I also guiltily hope I get beaten when it comes to word count this year; getting ahead last year was way too easy. I’ll be in my post-midterm / pre-exam rush, anyways, so you all have a great chance at it.
Post ahead if you're planning on attacking a novel this year! Yay!
Take care + God bless!
Jue

*High fives*
I've been nursing an idea for a while now (while meaning since last year's NaNo...) and I can't decide whether or not I want to do it.
What do you think? It's a historical novel, so it would be pretty difficult to write... Do you people think I should wait a few years to perfect my English, or go ahead and attack it right now (and revise it later)?
Take care!

Hey Julie (and, um, pumpkin face... whoever you are... because I have absolutely no idea who you are... =P)
You should totally go ahead with your historical novel. Knowing your writing skills, I believe it will be very good. Is it the idea with Christopher Marlowe and Shakespeare? Sorry, I couldn't help but take a look at your profil... I'm still new at this and very curious.
I already have an idea... I was actually inspired by Stratford, surprisingly enough. And the play itself, 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. It's a historical comedy, it takes place in the mid-1800s and it involves faeries. But it might end badly... so that would make it a tragedy? Anyways, I haven't decided the ending yet, I'm not exactly there yet.
Anyways, I'll try my best to succeed in writing the 50 000 words.... but first, I think I will go clean my room...
Sincerely,
Bibi

Hey Bibi!!
Ask around at school; soon the identity of our fellow NaNoer will become clear lol. :P
Tips for NaNo:
Get as much homework as you can on Saturday, cut your nails super short (longer nails scratch the keyboard and actually slows you down!!), clean your room, and go out to buy coffee.
I hope we can do a write-in soon.
----------And Bibi, welcome to NaNo. =) Don`t expect a good novel before the end of the month, just... er... one. Lol.
Take care!

:O as if u dont know who i am :( im like, your best friend and you dont even know what my name is :(
Ima post what my book is about... just an FYI :P
WELLLLLLLL, its about Nathen (my dude) who is "insane" (he has panick attacks, very moody and has hallucinations). And he moves from BC to ONTARIO, ditching his only friend :(
but when he gets to his new school, he disovers that their not panick attacks, hallucinations and he aint being moody. He's actually seeing ghosts, and he's empathic (feels other people's feelings). So him and a group of people at his new school are psychic, each one with their own set of psychic stuff (dunno who or what their gonna be yet), and they band together and stuff.
along the way, their's this other group at (either gonna be in this school or at another school near-by), also have a group, but unlike the group in his school, they use their gifts for bad.
(then add a bunch of conflicts and stuff)... (ohh and btw: their psychic powers wont be exagerated. So no people shooting lightining from there palms, or controling the weather and freaky regeneration and stuff... just psychic gifts people might have)
Numina is the name of the group (and the book), since i did research and Numina is the name of the psychic powers the greek got over time... yay, im a real novelist :D
soooo POST UR IDEAS UP TOO!!! :D i wanna hear all of urs, and if theirs anything i can help with (anything from characters, to conflicts, to blah blah blah...) POST IT UP HERE and i shall help (and im pretty sure everyone else will too).
good luck NaNoing, my fellow NaNoers and HAPPY NEW NANO YEAR!! (hihi)..... (man i love using parenthasease :D)

YO BUDDY!!! :D its about time you joing the internet! :D
i did the exact same thing last night/this morning.i made yesterdays quota (10 003 words) at 11:55.... five minutes later, i had to write another 1667 words T_T FML!!!! lol
you can do it (<---- in a funny voice)!!! :D yay us!!
IMPORTANT!! if you can, try to write at least 300 of 400 more words than the usual 1667 words a day (so 2000-2200 words a day). i know it seems like a lot, but those extra words can mean u can take a off of nano, or finish early WITHOUT the: "OMG its the last day and i still have to write 1667words!!! FML!! *after major freekout, cry and give up*..." imagen NOT doing this, cuz u did a couple extra words a day...thats my plan anways. (so just 400 words mean that on the 27th, ill be done my 50 000 words) :D yay me

Hi C!
<3 I miss you. lol.
You can't give up though buddy! You're my hero, remember? So yeah, a write-in would be love.
If the principal agrees, I'm willing to supervise you guys with Luc Groulx.
So if someone can go see him and ask him if we can have a write-in, how we would proceed for the keys and stuff. Then I'll send Luc to pick up whatever we need. Look, guys; I can probably manage to get the library to open their computer rooms for us while I work, and I'll kick you out at 2pm and join you in the school?
Anyways, it would be awesome. If you guys can arrange everything with the principal, Luc and I will take care of the supervision. (Perhaps ask M. Pelo if he can support our decision?)
You can show him this page if you want. :) To prove I said so!
Take care everyone! I really hope we can make this write-in work!
Jue
Post Scriptum; DO NOT GIVE UP EVERYONE!!!! It's not because I'm dramatically ahead that you guys won't make it... :P
Quote of the day: "“Head up, Chris,” he hissed. “The play’s over, and some might want to meet you. Look, so maybe the acting could have been polished, and it really wasn’t Gregory’s fault that a bird happened to fly right at him in the middle of the monologue. The actual play was still a success.”"

Hey, it`s me again
I just had a write-in with my cousin and a few of her friends. We wrote until about 3 am then my aunt sent us to bed since appenrently, we were making to much noise. Anyway, I almost caught up to what I`m supposed to be at and i passed the 20k mark. It`s great since last year i only reached 20k the day of the write-in at school (The day before the last day of nano for those who weren`t there last year).
I wish all of you the best of luck and don`t give up, we can make it.

Yeah, I'm super glad you made it past the 20k hurdle! Congratulations!
I, at 27k, am officially hitting my downer. Bleh. I feel discouraged and everything. Marlowe's being a jack--- and nothing seems to be going the way I wanted it to.
Yay. All hail NaNo.

Dearest L'Escale Artsies,
Am I the only one out there who's feeling majorly discouraged? Anyone else has a "list of things to do" with more things than your novel word count?
I believe that, this being my third year of intensive NaNoWriMo with the mentality that being under word-par is an utter abomination that cannot happen, I finally have a schedule.
Day 1 - 10: Things are fine. Moral's high. Everything seems to run relatively smooth, perhaps with a bump or two during days 2-4. The homework's done, your room is clean, you take daily showers, and you are well-fed. Life's good.
Day 10-15 (which we have just gotten through): This is when people start getting discouraged. Getting to 25k, the halfway mark, seems like too much of a hurdle to jump. Suddenly, homework becomes non-important. You start throwing clothes on the floor rather than in the hamper. A healthy diet consists of whatever mom and dad will feed you. But noveling's still going fine, even through the discouragement.
Day 15-22: This is always my mental breakdown phase. True to it, this morning, I woke up almost in tears. I opened my agenda, realized that I hadn't even started the Final essay (that's worth 20% of my final grade), and it's due in a week and a half. My Compte rendu is only drafted, and is due thursday. I haven't picked up my Latin book since Nov. 5th, and I'm 10 days behind in learning words, and therefore severly lost in classes. My room's a mess, I live on a "crap crap crap crap crap" mantra, and I generally morph in a general ball of stress ready to explode. This also makes sleep Hell, since you are so stressed that you cannot go to sleep, and wake up the next morning without the beautiful z's, and you're twice as stressed as you previously were.
Day 22-29: That's usually when I get physically ill, lol. Sorry to discourage. Some of you might remember last year, when I had to take an urgent appointment to my doctor and got prescribed a machine to help me breathe better. Two years ago, it was the heavenly influenza that attacked me on the 22nd. So this is why I say: Go get your H1N1 shot. I got mine, so I'm trying to stay relatively healthy.
But I envy you guys. Really. I usually go through the typical mental burnout on the 30th. This year, I can't. NaNo ends on a monday, and that friday, I have a philosophy exam to hand in. And after that, only a mere five days, I have my Latin final exam.
*Sob*
I need hugs.
And I totally just wasted 15 minutes typing this up. Why the hell ain't I doing my homework or some NaNo?
Thanks to those who read through it completely. Take care!
